If you could use any model with Khador...

I posted the same topic over in another forum, but its faction specific, so here we go.

We have a Foodmachine tournament this weekend and one of the house rules is that you can trade cans to use 1 model/unit from any faction. The stipulation is that it cant cost more than 5 points and it counts as friendly but not faction.

What would you take with Khador?

My first thoughts are to take Carvolo or the journeyman warcaster.

technically the journeyman would be a bit useless. Since it is not a fraction model it would not be able to take Khador jacks. best to check it with them though, they might be flexible, and it would be awesome. Most of our good spells and feats are fraction only, so there is not too much to benefit from taking, but Rupert would be very cool. I might be tempted to take Black 13th, thus getting 2 of the best units in one army.

If Hordes Factions count, I'd go for Blackfrost Shard or a minimum sized unit of Hex Hunters. Magical death is ALWAYS funny.

Hordes count, but the tourney is this weekend and those models aren't out yet. It would be fun.

What caster are you planning on playing?

Some generic answers that come to mind are:

-any of the "attached" warcaster solos (Squire, Hierophant, Skarlock)
-a model with an arcnode (one of the bone chickens perhaps)
-a Choir or Vassal
-Shifting Stones

if we are talking an arc node, i would prefer it to be a guardian type to keep with the heavy only theme.

I don't think arc nodes would work since any jacks couldn't be part of the casters battlegroup.

Hmm tough question. I'd love the Tyrant and standard for the MOW for sure. A Journeyman would turn our casters into even bigger tanks. Imagine Karchev or Butcher with Arcane Shield. muah ha ha ha.. Ahem, another great choice would be a bonejack with an arcnode. A couple of our casters would suddenly become much more viable.

Commodore. How did this not come up in conversation? Anyway, take that plus Lord rockbottom (who is a merc we can take) and enjoy power 20, rng 20 slam shots, rng 16 fire shots and 10 inch sprays that're all accurate thanks to money shot.

Thorn with Sorscha would be hilarious. Run it up, arc tempest, 12 pow kd all around, reactive drive kicks in and thorn is behind the lines again.

Just an arc node would be nice. But what about one built into the body of a devastator to keep this tech safe - and it doesn't have to open to arc...

Failing that a MoW kovnik that boosts speed to MoW unit nearby.

I'd also run the Totem Hunter in an Old Witch Army with 3 Manhunters and Yuri. OR Lord of the Feast.
Other than that stuff I'd probably like to run Kraye the most.

I'd definitely go with Choir or the Squire. I'm all about using the three Character jacks, and anything I can do for extra focus or buffing them is good.

Sadly, I didn't get to play in this tourney. The big stipulation was that the "borrowed" model still had all of its rules intact as written on the card. So, fury remained fury, focus remained focus. The big catch was that the model counted as "friendly" but still was considered part of its original faction. So, any "friendly faction" stuff from it would fail.

My first thought was the Withershadow Combine. Stick Fury or Battle Lust on them and BAM -- they will produce a free Seether for you, guaranteed.


Rhupert would've been funny, though. I can just imagine it now:

Rhupert: "Waaaaah, those evil Khadorans killed my family! I'm going to sob and play my bagpipes!"

Technically, warcasters aren't worth any points, so if I could choose one of those (in a big enough game for two casters), I'd totally pick Siege. Siege + eSorscha = HOLYSHI-----!!!!

I would take some circle stuff that can make forests. Run it with pButcher and a bunch of manhunters with Yuri. Maybe a Kodiak or too for good measure.

I wouldn't think twice about fielding a Vassal. Ancillary Attack for an extra bombard shot! Enliven to prevent multiple attacks against our jacks. Include Mechaniks in this equation and our jacks would never go down.
