Default Wood Burner on Plastic models?

As the title says has anyone tried one of those wood burning tools on plastic models to melt runes and symbols on them? I was just curious if anyoe has tried this and if it would work?

I assume it would work, and don't see why it wouldn't.
What I'd be concerned about is the toxic fumes released when you do melt the plastic.
Definitely try it in a very well ventilated area.
Oh, and wear a mask, and eyewear....

Like Ghool said, be careful about the fumes...really nasty stuff. It'll burn the inside of your nose and smell likes to stick around. You'll also need to watch out for your mini's combusting as well; plastic is incredibly flammable.

Could work, I guess the only problem is the ridge it creates around the carvings.
I've been experimenting with somthign like this in my youth, usingdifferent sizes of hot-hot needles and using thoose. Slices through it like butter, but around where you carve you'll leave a ridge. Nothing that can't be sanded down, I guess, but I thought you should know

    Cheers ^^

Another way you could do it would be to copy Rob Hawkins idea for creating runes in wood here. If you scroll down the Insider you'll see he drills holes in the wood, which he then fills with putty and carves runes into the putty. I'm sure you could do something similar with plastic. Personally i think this would be easier and definitely less toxic.
