Question Who do you prefer to run your basher(s)

So, who do you run your basher(s) with. Heres my general review on how each one could play out. Keep in mind, I'm no relasine

Gorten - can stack them with focus, SOG, and thor can still tune damage rolls. So that gives you a free slam at p+s 19 boosted, followed by 3 p+s 19 auto hit attacks boosted, followed by a free boom.

Thor - you can still tune damage rolls, and give one attack after the slam and follow up. Plus, you can reposition your basher(s) before the slam to get them in a good lined up spot. But... you lose SOG and the numerous attacks after the slam / follow up.

high shields - I've honestly never even thought of doing this, it just doesn't seem like a good idea... or does it. They are a ranged unit right, so them getting in melee weakens thier effectiveness. So, as soon as something gets near them (something they can't handle with a 10 man CRA) the basher says "I'll take care of this pals!" and slams it away. Now the quiestion of the moment, does the basher follow up? I would say, if your relativeley sure he could take the target out with an extra attack and a boom, then follow up and do so. But... if your not sure, simply have the high shileds walk up and do a full CRA, it will all but auto hit and assuming your using a 10 man, it'll be a POW 20.

Dont forget Durgen. Redline + 3 Focus = 10" Slam at POW17, plus follow up attacks. Durgen's feat also cranks up Flak Field to 12+3d6 (and 6+3d6). Furthermore, in the early turns of the game, Flak Field is basically +1FOC for Durgen each turn (the Basher pretty much pays for its run action).

Basically, though, I like them anywhere. I've got 2, and have found myself running one on my 'caster and one on Thor.

Don't forget with Madhammer's Redline you can Trample with him to get in the middle of a unit for Flak field. The +2" gives him a nice 10" trample. Thor can even use Tune up to give him boosted to hits to insure he gets some hits on the tramples.

I've only run one with my casters. In every case so far 3 FOC + Tune-Up + either Redline or SoG has equaled one very dead 'jack.

I haven't been blown away by running Thor with jacks outside the spray bunnies in any list.

Remember that a slam results in a knockdown, a knockdown model does not have a melee range therefore their not in the Bashers melee range if he uses Follow Up,in MK I(not sure about MK II). The High Shields could still do a CRA on the knocked down model.

#1 They are best on a warcaster, Gorten or Madhammers upkeep's + focus are far to useful.
#2 Thor Pronto is very useful and tune-up can make up for not having access to Battlegroup spells. if your Warcaster is already running a Heavy then Thor is a good back up.
#3 High Shields, I see the Basher as the only Jack they should marshal, but only in 50+ point games, but they could always take one over if Thor gets taken out.

If Thor was marshalling it will be autonomous when he dies.
