Does a jack attached to a marshal or to a journeyman warcaster still count as part of a warcaster's battlegroup or is it its own battlegroup?

No.A jack must be under the control of the caster to be part of the said caster's battlegroup.

Journeyman Warcaster, Yes. He has the Battlegroup Commander Special Rule so warjacks under his control are part of his battlegroup.
