Secondly the Unit attachment-think of him as the step between kossite and manhunter.

    Kossite Bearhunter
SPD STR MAT RAT DEF ARM CMD

    Ranged Attack (Ranged)
    RNG ROF AOE POW

    Hand Weapon (Melee)
    POW P+S

    Damage 5
    Field Allowance 1
    Point Cost 2
    Small Base

    Kossite Bearhunter
    Pathfinder
    Officer
    Ambush
    Camouflage
    Granted: Backstab
    Infiltrate -
Once per game during its unit?s activation, this model can use Infiltrate. Models in this unit gain +2 SPD and Prowl. Infiltrate lasts for one round.

    And finally, the puppies!

    Handler
SPD STR MAT RAT DEF ARM CMD
    7 5 5 4 13 10 7

    Whip (Melee)
    POW P+S
    2 7

    Warhound
SPD STR MAT RAT DEF ARM CMD
    7 6 5 1 13 10 6

    Bite (Melee)
    POW P+S
    4 10

    Field Allowance 2
    Handler & 5 Warhounds 3
    Handler & 9 Warhounds 5
    Small Base

    Handler
    Officer

    Warhounds
    Gang

Slip the Leash - If there is no officer present in this unit and no member of this unit is engaged in melee at the beginning of it?s activation, this unit must charge the nearest enemy model/unit within LOS. If this unit is unable to charge, it makes a full advance towards the model or unit instead.

    Handler & Warhounds
    Relentless Charge

    Whip
    Reach

    Input Welcome!

Hi! Glad to see someone else is as into homebrew as I am. I actually did my own writeup of a kossite UA, WA, and hound unit a couple of days ago. Here is the link, and as a fellow homebrewer I would love to get your opinion.

    http://privateerpressforums.com/show...I-felt-like-it

As for what you have here, I will comment on each individually:

    Kossite Hunting Dog
I think that what you have here is just right if what you are looking for is to make the unit harder hitting in melee and better at taking out hard targets. The problem is, I am not convinced that is what they should be doing. Buffing the melee ability of a MAT 5, P+S 8 unit is odd to me. It seems that the battlefield role they are meant to fulfill has little to do with killing things in melee and everything to do with harassing flanks and tying down ranged units like Long Gunners. While 3 P+S 10 flankers charging from the rear would be enough to put a serious dent in something heavy, the rest of the unit would proceed to flail uselessly. If they had something like return or an ability that let the kossites fire past them into melee they would be groovy in their current role. So if you are set on the idea of making Kossites good in melee, that would be my suggestion for these models (though that risks pushing their cost above one point).

    Kossite Bearhunter
I like Infiltrate as a mini-feat. I think that prowl+treewalker give them some cool options for protecting themselves from direct fire, and that +2 SPD could get them into their harassment role faster on the turn they show up on the board. I am not a fan of Backstab, however for 3 reasons. 1) I think it takes them out of their intended battlefield role 2) I think that it is too good on an ambushing unit of any kind and 3) It means that the weapon attachment you have written is averaging rolls of around 27 damage with little chance of missing when the dogs charge a jack from the rear (which is just silly in terms of damage). The fact that he is a weaponmaster is fine, but again I don't think it actually helps the unit that much in the way a UA should.

    Warhound Pack
My favorite of your 3 homebrews. I think I wee what you were trying to do here: create a unit of cheap, fast, expendible troops that can munch on infantry. I like the rule Slip the Leash too, though it probably needs some cleaning up to function properly. I have a few concerns about the unit though. It seems like they are a poor man's Kayazy in terms of their battlefield role as swarmy, P+S 10 infantry killers with Gang. It feels weird to have a SPD 7 human, as that has previously been the purview of elves and Cryx. The handler has a giant "kill me" sign on his head and little way of avoiding death (sacrifical pawn might help). The unit will die a thousand deaths from AoEs or covering fire due to paper thin armor and low CMD, but I suppose that is intentional on your part. Finally, I would probably just give the poor guy a spear and and gang to make him the same P+S as his doggy buddies for simplicity.

I hope that did not come across as too harsh, and I honestly mean it when I say to keep up the good work!
Anyone can amass a fortune if he struggles for only that. It is he who struggles to be poor and ends up wealthy with whom we should be annoyed.
