Count me in... assuming there are going to be people. Can't rely on Landry or Swift as I don't find out about them until last minute. Marshall? Martyr/Pigeon?

Randomly saw Landry yesterday, he's meeting some people down there after, so he's going to show up for some WM first.

He'll be playing Skorne until GenCon's over, then he'll probably be back on Khador. Unless the rumors are true and he starts playing Cryx.

Also, does this Krea 2-shotting Butcher have any of the following effects on it:

    • Drake for Flank
    • Enrage
    • Abuse
    • Zaal's Feat
    • eMakeda's Feat
    • Xerxis' Feat
    • Fury

Edit: Oh wait, I forgot to add Chuck's dice.

Not a good day for Retribution, huh?

I had to get Ravyn into the fray early because Houseguard decided Void Spirits were creepy, even with a Standard. They technically made 4 command checks (including Standard rerolls), and only succeeded one. (10-8-11-12 for both Void Spirits) Took way too many resources just to kill the titan (having a melee unit not in the way would've helped for this) and eventually got Karn'd. (Though to be fair, Karn only needed to do the last point of damage; Haakar got Ravyn to 7 and Nihilators got her to 1 from there.)

    ouch!

matilda took kaelyssa, mage hunters, riflemen, sentinels a phoenix and some other jazz against ashlynn, forgeguard, gunmage/ua/mule, A&H and some stuff. her assassination attempt was going to be stationarying ashlynns vanguard, shooting it twice with kaelyssa to backlash two damage to ashlynn, followed up by 10 riflemen and a few other shots to kill off ashlynn. unfortunately she misread the rules for houseguard, thinking they did an additional dmg die w/in 8" so that they would hurt the vanguard. Rolling triple ones followed by double ones didnt help either.

also, if a rifleman unit is CRAing against ashlynn, and ashylnn quick draws and hits the dude leading the CRA, does that cancel the entire CRA?

Yeah I figured that too, since if the guy leading the CRA would auto-miss for some reason (stealth, out of range, etc.) that cancels the whole CRA.

How are the Riflemen working out for her? Of the stuff that's out it's the one thing I don't own and am not sure about, mostly because long-range gun lines aren't really my style. Invictors and MHSF both can do melee decently with the proper conditions (flank and enemy 'jacks, respectively) and as a result I can play with their versatility. Archers are a decent support unit I can throw on a flank so they don't bug me. All Riflemen do is shoot from far away, which bores me, so yeah.

I'm leery on WG Riflemen just like I am with Houseguard. Long range without precision. WG Rifles don't even have CRA. Suppressing Fire is good but can be worked around. Dunno. Just not my style.

i think she was pretty dissapointed when she figured out they were just boosted atk rolls for whites of their eyes. I'm none too impressed by them. I guess i don't see where they shine for the same cost as a unit that can do much more, like the invictors or MHSF. The rifle corps i use from time to time, but almost never over regular WGI, usually in addition too. gun lines are lame, playing against gun lines are lame, and they probably suck anyway.

Which is exactly why I don't play Cygnar. While I like some of their models and especially the gun mages, I can't bring myself to use them because I prefer to use range as support at best, not my battle plan.

What to bring next week... I need to get painting that Circle but I think I'll bring that 35 to test out next week anyways.

Everybody knows im a huge melee guy (7" baby) but WG riflecorps are really good guys. RNG 14 pow 10 with auto boosts from Joey. they crack anything under arm 17 on average rolls. this kills a good majority of single wound troops. Now if you add pvlad, butcher, esorcha etc...they become way more dangerous. only 8pts too, not bad

i do have to say i've always wanted to run butcher with some winter guard just to see what a bunch of boosted blunderbusses and rockets can do to a warjack. theoretically, yes, pow 10s with 3d6 dmg die will even put the hurt on most warbeasts and jacks, killing outright many of the former and crippling most of the latter if the whole squad is firing.

1 the ravagore doesnt hit it on average and running something to get engaged and blight bringer wont kill that many of them in all seriousness. rat 5 vs defense 17 with IF is hard for us.

Guess you haven't played against my Cygnar enough then, Dan. Cygnar is not IMO a ranged gunline faction anymore - it's a combined arms faction in Mk2 esp - at least if you hope to win/compete. Running a gun line only works against people that don't know how to respond to it. Hell, I see more Ret gunlines than Cygnar these days. And they usually do it better.

That said, I tend to run melee heavy Cygnar when I actually get a chance to play. eStryker FTW!!! Ranged models usually make up less than 30% of my army, and that includes melee models with ranged options (like Stormnouns).

one of these days i have to test out my estryker defense strategies. my favorite though was of course when he rolled triple 1s for his boost thing against karchev and took like 14 dmg back. He just couldn't bring himself to attack Karchev!

But i think vlad could probably handle him with martial prowess up, or a drakhun nearby for most casters, if for nothing else to put some dmg on him so he can't boost so hard. Casters with admonition would work too, right?

Jake: Rifle Corps are only 15 with IF... remember WG only have good defense if they're WG Infantry AND have the officer. Speaking of which, I loves me some boosted grapeshots on Butcher's feat: I've killed an entire line of Stormblades with AS that way.

But if I'm plucking single-wound troops I'm more partial to Widowmakers. Aiming they can hit 16's on average and don't need to roll damage. Sure it's 6 points for 5 (4 plus Marksman), but they're more precise in my book which is what I play for. Ranged is precision.

winterguard unit would have that ua added to it. there is no way they would play it otherwise. sprays to get through engagement and a full unit could kill a armor 18 heavy.
