Thumbs up -update 11/28- High five for the Highborn! WIP With Pics!

So this is a thread I started like two weeks ago, and got deleted with the move. I won't bore you with the beginning stage pictures I had of them, and will pick up where I left off here. Enjoy.

So back in August, I went to Gen Con in Indy with my friend Jeremy (dv8guy), and he offered to sell me his Ashlynn army, which I jumped at. I finally got around to start painting them about three weeks ago, and here are some pics. It's only part of her battle group so far, but there are a bunch more waiting to be painted and photographed. I remember seeing a gray and pink Cygnar scheme on the old forum, so I stole...I mean, stole the idea

    Ashlynn

    Ashlyn's Back

Ashlynn's head is really Viktoria the Bounty Hunter from Malifaux. I didn't like her pumpkin head, and thought the actual Viktoria model looked like Ashlynn if she wasn't wearing armor, so...I used her head. I never really painted eyes before, so this is my second or so attempt, so it isn't really as good as I would like. (I play Cryx, lots of dead people who don't need to look real)

    Nomad

    The other Nomad

since these pictures were taken last Thursday, I've painted most of the armor of the second Nomad and cleaned up a lot of lines so it looks less sloppy. They aren't done, obviously. I have more highlights and shading to do. I'll post more soon! Comments and (constructive) criticisms welcome.

I like the reposes you've done. The Nomads are bit less clunky than the original sculpt has the potential to be if its upper body isn't lined up right, and the new head suits Ashlynn rather well.

Thanks Von Quixote! I will say they look better in person than blown up in size like this.

So, I have been painting models, I've just not been posting them. Here are some more! Ashlynn I've mostly been just tightening up the lines on the highlights and doing this and that, so I won't post pics that look basically the same as the ones above.

The standard pose Nomad with the Talon peeking in the back. The emblem on their shields (the top of the chassis for the Talon) is a fleur-de-lis with a raven on top of each side petal...thing. I did it freehand, a first for me, so they didn't turn out as great as I would have liked.

My favorite of the two Nomads. He basically looks the same, I just wanted to include him.

The Talon has no eyes!!! I'm going to take away some of his "bling," I feel there is too much gold on him.

Everyone's favorite Gobber! I painted his knapsack to look like my Fossil messenger bag. Unless you've seen me on my way to work, you wouldn't know that's what it is. I like how he's turning out, he's my first Gobber.

Jonne is turning out awesome imo. I'm proud of him. Herne is still sitting in primer with only a skin base coat. I will work on him tonight, though. Jonne is my first Ogrun, and was excited to blend the skin tones (which are not done)

This guy is the least done of all of them. All I have done is drybrushing. I'm going to be doing some OSL for his grenades. I copied the pose from someone on the forum (whose name I forget, sorry!).

    C&C welcome!

Tremendously easy. If a monkey like me can do it, anyone can. I used a fine x-acto saw and cut Ashlynn's head off just below the chin and filed it smooth when I was done. For Viktora, I wanted to make sure I didn't damage her head whatsover, so I cut her off at the shoulders and snipped and filed until it was just neck and head. Test fit, did some more filing, pinned it and she was good to go. It really came out amazing, there is no indication it is not the actual head.

I'm waiting on my Bokur and spare parts to come in the mail (yeah, I didn't own a Bokur, weird, I know) and I'm going to do some fancy footwork...well saw work really for him. Monday is the soonest I'll get it, so maybe Tuesday I'll have something to show.

I really love the conversion, which I think is much better than the original. Whatever monkey you may be, you're a talented one, especially as I don't know as I could have pulled it off.

    Here's some new pics!

I added Jonne's axe up top, painted and did one highlight to his pants. "Why is the axe there???" you may be asking. Well, this whole army I got from my friend Jeremy, and that is where the axe was glued. I can't get the glue off of the crate, so! I kept the axe there. It doesn't bother me at all, it adds to the look that he's just loaded up with crap, which he basically is.

I did this fellow last night and today. I like how he's turning out.

Well, thank you, too. I is a lot easier than it seems. It just takes the nerve to hack apart models. I planned it for a week, looking at angles and the like, but once I got over the jitters of "Am I really going to lop her head off??" I did it. You can, too.

So I've been trying to post that last message for ten minutes. It kept telling me I had five images when the limit is four, which was not true. I figured out what it was, it was Reven's SMILEY FACE!! Weird that it counts as an image.
