    Default E-ryss better than P-eiryss?

Mastershake commented in the kaelyssa vs strakov topic that E-ryss is better than P, I was wondering if this is a general statement, or just in that matchup, and if it's generalized, why? I've made some people cry with p-eiryss...

Not matchup dependent, she's just better. pEiryss has 3 ammo types that have varying levels of usefulness and thats really all she does.

eEiryss does a laundry list of things every time she hits a model and with the exception of Sniper, does them in melee as well:
    Removes All Upkeeps
    Removes All Animi
    Removes All Focus
    Casues Disruption
Sniper's for an auto-point of damage

Instead of pEiryss sulking for a turn if she ends movment by a non-ret jack, eEiryss prevents all non-ret jacks within 5" from being allocated focus and causes them to lose arc nodes. She also has whiplash.

So the advantage of pEiryss is that sometimes Deadly Bolt is good (but usually against jacks eEiryss' disruption and sniper are better) and in rare cases the difference between an enemy caster losing their focus and the enemy caster losing their focus and not getting it back next turn matters (though usually a caster without focus gets assassinated). And she has Phatom Hunter, but you've got an entire unit of those.

Thank you for the info...E-ryss really should have a strength bonus considering she insists on lugging that gargoyle statue with her everywhere she goes >_>.

If only for animus and upkeep removal epic is better.

But then she also has Arcane Interference which makes her not only harder to kill but more powerful against warmachine forces.

I like them both for varied reasons. I do get a lot of use out of pEryss' Phantom Seeker and Disruptor Bolt options. If you can tap the later on an enemy caster it's typically good game. I prefer her for popping key units over the Mage Hunter Strike force because she has much better rat and good solid movement.

It comparison I rarely find myself needing the ability to strip ongoing spells [my local meta] in a regularly meaningful way.

They are both good, the just carry different advantages; look at what you need/want.

I would gladly sacrifice whiplash and technological interference for assault on the crossbow/bayonet (shooting the crossbow on the charge) and weapon master on the saber.

This or at least give Eiryss (both) a decent strength.

I never said she did. I said I'd rather have it than some of the stuff she has now. Read a little harder next time.

    ....why would you want that?

Assault would be nice, 22 is more then 19, but I wouldn't trade Interference for it, certainly not in a ret list.

    pEiryss can:

Death Bolt for 3dmg and you choose where it goes on jacks/beasts. Combined with snipers you can do auto 9dmg which can start or finish off key system/branches.

Disruptor Bolt to remove focus off a models and against warcasters prefect them from replenishing focus next turn. This gives her a more control feel as one hit gives you two turns were your opponate can't focus camp, upkeep, or cast spells.

Phantom Seeker lets her shoot those support solos like the choir from behind their lines.

    eEiryss

Arcane Interference can let you clear focus from a model and remove upkeeps from the model hit. It does not prevent your opponate from replenishing their focus.

Sniper lets you choose where your dmg goes like death bolt but only can do one dmg.

Technological Interference makes non-ret jacks within 5inches unable to be used as arc nodes and can not be allocated focus. Beware this does not stop them from spending focus gained from other means like the Death Jack.

Whiplash makes using magic attacks against her tricky as they could backfire on the caster.

Because if you are within 5" of a warjack, You can bet that Eiryss will be squashed right soon. Or be tied up in melee for enough turns to be useless. At least with improved melee abilities she can have a better chance of shaking off solos, 'jacks, and beasts. Like I said, she needs to, at least, have a better strength as her S+P are horrible by themselves.

Really, within 5" of a warjack that can't be allocated focus? The highest MAT warjack in the game is an 8, so it'll still need to roll high to hit, more average MAT jacks don't even come close. You'd be suprised how many turns she can stand in the middle of a group of jacks. Of course multiple enemy jacks effectively being disrupted for a turn can be game changing enough even if she dies.

Correct, until you take blasts into consideration. Then there are also aimed shots. Often at a RAT of 7. Then 'jacks in melee only become a last ditch attempt. Also, I'm not only talking about 'jacks. Against another solo, Eiryss is in trouble, but then situations very, depending on the solo.

Wow, aiming up to a 7 only needs a 9 without boosting and an average blast is what POW 6-7 so averaging 1-2points of damagw without boosting. You'd be suprised how hard DEF 16 is to kill when the things that can boost can't recieve focus.

Not saying its the easy to hit 16, but it isn't that difficult either. Even if she is in combat with a 'jack/s and tar pitting it/them. Not being able to deal significant damage means she's stuck doing what she isn't supposed to be doing. Harassing the warcaster/warlock. She could at least have 'Jack Hunter ability.

You do realize this would mean that a jack would be targeting a solo that's doing its job while the jack would not necessarily be doing its job.

If my 3pt solo keeps a pair of 7pts jacks from doing anything meaningful for two turns, she's paid for herself in spades. Of course if there's only one you could just shoot them.

Just a note about local meta, I have used both forms of Eiryss, and in my local group, the epic is just about useless. In my local group, frequent things to see are: pKreoss (knock down galore), Mortenabra, Karchev, and pButcher (auto boost without allocation) and the various jacks that can generate their own focus, as well as the ever-hated Thunderhead and it auto-hit pulse attack. eEiryss doesn't disrupt anything with these as my almost constant opponents. She is a minor nuisance in some situations, and in most is just collateral damage (see Thunderhead). I get a lot more utility out of pEiryss and her ability to strip focus off of casters, which has about the same result as the epic, IMO. Plus, I just love seeing Khador look at 9 points of near-automatic damage and 2 p+s 7 AP shots
