    Default Mk2 Mercenaries: Who works for which Contract

    This is a list of the Contracts currently available, and then a list of all known mercenary units and who they will work for. You can thus use this list to create any contract force. Color coding is used to mark the factions/types.

    I marked the Rhulic units with the word Rhulic, and the Privateer stuff with Privateer. Please be aware that Rhulic jacks can only be used with a Rhulic Warcaster or Rhulic Jack Marshall (Thor), while non Rhulic jacks can be used with anyone other then a Rhulic caster.

    First up, the Contracts with their special benefits if any:

    Four Star Syndicate: Models that work for Cryx, Khador, and the following: Sam MacHorne & the Devil Dogs, and Rhupert Carvolo

    The Highborn Convenant: Models that work for Cygnar. Can also include one Arcane Tempest Gun Mage unit or Long Gunner unit. This unit is considered to be a friendly Mercenary unit instead of a Cygnar unit and can include attachments.
    - Benefit: Solos in this army gain Advance Deployment.
    The Searforge Commission: Models marked Rhulic or Ogrun in this list. Rhulic and Ogrun units/models
    - Benefit: Field Allowance of all non character models and units are increased by 1.
    Special Rule: Your deployment zone is extended 4˝ forward.
    Magnus' Agenda: This is now a THEME ARMY and will be discussed below.

    The Talion Charter: Can include Capt Phinneus Shae, any Privateer Models/Units, and any Mercenary Warjacks.
    - Benefit: +1 to Starting Roll.
    You can redeploy any solo after both players have finished deployment but before the first players turn.
    Next up the full list of Mercenaries and who they work for. You can use this list, coupled with the contracts above, to create any Mercenaries force that you wish! If I missed something please let me know so I can add it later. I will also update this post once Forces of Warmachine: Mercenaries is out if I am allowed to do so with the new stuff.

    I also don't have the information for the new mercs like Harlan Versh, Dannon and the Bull ect. If you can post that I will add it. Please make sure to mark (Rhulic) or (Privateer) as needed.

    I am gonna color code the factions for ease of locating: Cygnar (CG), Khador (KH), PoM (Protectorate), Cryx (CX), Retribution (RET), Rhulic (RH), Privateer (PR). I have now ABBREVIATED the Faction Names. You will find the abbreviations above next to the faction names. Color still applies. Eventually I will color code it by contract rather then faction.

    Magnus the Traitor THEME ARMY.

    In order to play Magnus as his own force, you must play him as a Theme Army with tiers. You can find all this information here: http://privateerpress.com/files/MercContracts-1_0.pdf

    But for those who do not wish to look:

    Base Requirements:

    Warjacks: Any mercenary non character warjacks
    Units: Irdrian Skirmishers, Steelhead Units, Boomhowler and Co, Croe's Cutthroats
    Solos: Gorman, Kell, Orin Midwinter, Saxon Orrik, Steelhead Solos

    Tier 1: Can only include the above models.
    Benefit: Cost of Renegade Warjacks reduced by 1. Also, can include 1 Cygnar Trencher or Long Gunner unit with attachments.

    Tier 2: Must include at least 2 or more Steelhead Units
    Benefit: Small Based Steelhead Units gain Advance Move.

    Tier 3: Must have 3 or more Warjacks
    Benefit: Place one Wreck Marker for each Jack in Magnus Battlegroup within 20 inches of the Back Edge of Magnus deployment zone after terrain is placed but before deployment. Cannot be placed within 3 inchs of a terrain feature.

    Tier 4: Must have 2 Renegade Warjacks
    Benefit: Models in Magnus Battlegroup may start with one of his upkeep spells already in effect. You must declare the upkeeps and models they effect BEFORE either player sets up his models.

    Next up, Magnus the Warlord THEME ARMY (Epic Magnus)

    Base Requirements:

    Warjacks: Any mercenary non character warjacks

    Benefit: Your deployment zones is extended 2 inchs forward.

    They... they got it backwards! WHY MUST PMAGNUS BE TORMENTED SO?!

    Well, I really like the tiers. Really, the first benefits and fourth requirements should be traded, but looks good otherwise.
    Note that whatever I say here is but my opinion; if you disagree with anything I have to say, feel free to hit me up for a game on Vassal (which isn't real Warmachine :)). I'm always up for new challenges or to see the game in a different light.

    Magnus's tiers look awesome and I cannot WAIT to see what other merc casters get as tiers.

    So, do you guys think I should stick with showing which FACTIONS each model will work for, or should I switch to which CONTRACT?

    I would prefer to group by contracts since I don't play any faction. If your only listing them by factions you might as well add Dahlia & Skarath (a RET only choice) and cephalyx (allies that can only be used by CX).

    I like the way you have it set up currently. Not too hard to look at the color code, and then you only have to add new models to one place (the lists) rather then potentially 4+ places.

    Also, would it be of any use to list any Merc/Minions Horde Factions?

    Great work on the thread. This will help a lot of people! The format is done well; I think you should leave it as is.

    Also... Is anyone else excited about the wording for the Magnus Theme forces? "Steelhead Solo's" are listed instead of just Stannis Brocker, who is currently the only Steelhead solo that I know of. Maybe I'm just dreaming, but it seems like there was a purpose for leaving it so open ended/group oriented.

    It's a catch all for if they ever make another at some future time.

    I have preordered my Merc Deck so I will be able to "hopefully" get this completely up to date and make SURE its valid.

    I am working off the Final Field Test stuff right now.

    And then in May/June I will of course be getting Forces of Warmachine: Mercs

    this looks like it needs to be updated. unless something has changed since the mk2 decks came out. with the exception of dirty meg it looks like all the privateer solo's will now work for cryx.

    I've compiled everything (I hope) into a handy .pdf located here. It's likely very wrong, out of date, and just mistaken, but it includes all the Hordes factions, all the Minions, all the Mercenary contracts, it's updated to the Hordes release last month, and color coded.

    ...I hope you like a great big ol' chart.

    Pretty cool - at a quick glance, needs the UA/WAs for the various Cygnar units, and Saxon will work for Magnus. Nice work though

    one thing, you can redeploy all solos not one solo in talion charter

    You can redeploy solos after both players have deployed but before the first player’s first
    turn. The redeployed models must be placed on the table in a location they could have
    been deployed initially.

    We need to add "Farrow" and "Gatorman" as model types, so that when the beasts come out, we'll know that that's all Rorsh or Wrong Eye can use.
