Lightbulb Running the Gauntlet Tournament Series

    Running the Gauntlet Tournament Packet
    50pt SR Series NJ/PA

Welcome All! The following 4 game Steam Roller series is geared toward gathering Warmachine/Hordes Players from a multitude of states and groups to support the hobby and the stores that are carrying Privateer Press products. We want to keep this game going strong!
Running the Gauntlet is a tournament series of four games. Each game will be held in a specified location under the Standard SR rules that can be found on the Privateer Press web site under organized play. Each Tournament will be 50 point with up to 2 lists, and the last two will be conducted under accelerated times. The rules for each SR will be exactly as posted in the packet will the following exceptions:
(1.-Accelerated Time Limits – Use the base game, turn, and extension length of the next-lower event point size. For example, use 80-minute games with 10-minute turns and a 5-minute extension for a 50-point event.
(2.-Baseline Final Standings – If there is no clear winner at the end of the tournament; use the Strength of Schedule tiebreaker followed by Control Points tiebreaker.
(3.-4 Round Event-each SR is 4 round event.
(4.-Baseline Painting – Painted armies are not required. There will be a separate painting score that will not influence the overall standings in the SR’s.
(5.-Baseline Army List Variants – Second list optional. The same warcaster or warlock cannot be included in both lists. Both lists are subject to the same point constraints and must be from the same faction.

*Remember-“Players secretly choose one of their two lists after the pairings and scenarios for the match have been announced. Before deploying any models, players should conceal the card for their selected warcaster or warlock on the table. Players cannot change their lists after making this selection. Both players reveal their lists simultaneously, and then setup continues normally (From the SR Tournament Packet, p.7).”*

    Locations for the Tournament Series:
    Maplewood Hobbies (34 slots) 1970 Springfield Ave Maplewood, NJ 07040 (973) 378-3839

The Game Room at Woodbridge Mall (26) Woodbridge Mall Rt 1, Woodbridge, NJ. 07095Phone: (732) 636-1111

Each tournament will have the following awards:
    1st Overall
    2nd Overall
    3rd Overall
    Best Painted
    Gunny’s Award-(Tacticians award)
Iron Man-(Player who submitted one list and finished with the most points available for single list played faction)
Best Painted Minatures- 1,2,3- We will have a single miniature challenge before the beginning of round 4. Each player can submit one model. This model can be a warcaster, warjack/Beast/Solo/unit model. Players not participating in the tournament can submit models for this competition; they must pay $5.00 to do so. This money goes in the pot with the entry fees from the event players.
Smoking Boots-A fun award given out to the player who finishes last in the event.

A sword will be given out for the overall winner of the event, as well as the appropriate SR kit to the top 3. The prizes will be given out in store credit, and both of the locations will be running a 15% off sale on all Privateer Press products for event players only!

    Tournament Dates, Locations, and times:
1-The Game Room 5/21/2011 10:00 Check in; 10:30 Roll Dice!
    2-Maplewood Hobby 6/18/2011 10:00 Check in; 10:30 Roll Dice!
3-The Game Room 7/16/2011 10:00 Check in; 10:30 Roll Dice!
    4-Maplewood Hobby 8/20/2011 10:00 Check in; 10:30 Roll Dice!

    Extreme Points:
During the 4 games in this series, players will accumulate Extreme Points based upon how they place in each SR, their attendance, painting, and other hobbyist awards. We believe that you should follow the 3 P’s; Play hard, Play fair, and Paint well. At the end of the fourth game the player that accumulates the most Extreme Points will be the most Extreme player, and will win an Extreme Model of their choice! We will either ship it to your home, or deliver it to the store for you to pick up and call you when it arrives. To determine your extreme points by placement, we will take your top 3 scores and add them together. The other categories, such as Iron Man or Best Painted, will be calculated by your actual point earnings.
Here is the points break down per event:
    1st Place-6pts
    2nd Place-5pts
    3rd Place-4pts
    4th Place-3pts
    5th place-2pts
    6th Place+-1pt
    Iron Man-2pts
    Best Painted-2pts
    Gunny’s Award-2pts
    Best Painted Miniature 1,2,3-1pt

    Players Responsibility’s:
Each player should review the sportsmanship section of the SR2011 Rules Packet and will be expected to follow to them. Any bad sportsmanship, cheating, name calling, fighting or arguing will have you excused from any of the events with no refund. You will also be removed from continuing to participate in the Running of the Gauntlet.
The tournament fee is $10.00. You may contact the TO in order to reserve your slot if you can’t make it to the perspective site to prepay for your slots. Yes, you may prepay for the event to reserve your slot. First come, first serve. The Master List will be held by the TO. This is to avoid any confusion with who may play.
Before the event, go to the Tournament Record Sheet on the SR packet and fill it out before the event, and hand it to the TO on game day. This is to ensure that the event starts on a timely fashion. It’s a good idea to print copies out for yourself!
It’s a good idea to also remember your gaming items, dice, glue, templates, cards, faction books, and Core Rule Book. The locations may have some of these things for sale, but don’t count on it. Just give your stuff a one over before you come to any of the events.
Remember that you may not agree with the TO, or any Judges for these events on their rulings, keep your agitation to a minimum. Arguing with Judges can have you excused.

I look forward to seeing you at this series!

Sounds like a great series of events!

I'll try to make them all; especially since I tend to be available on the thrid Saturday of each month

I'll see if I can get my Mercs up and ready on time for this. That way I can give my pButcher and 'jack heavy army a break.

It's a toss up between Trollbloods or Cryx. Either way it looks to be a good time.

I thought you went for Best Painted, or Best Painted Mini? I think Schmidty is going for Smoking Boots, he might beat you to it.

Schmidt (AKA Gobbles) and I are changing places. He'll take best painted and I'll take stinky feet!

TBH, I'm updating 3 of my metal Khador 'jacks to the plastic ones and am adding in 2 Demo Korp for this. Hopefully, I'll be done in time for the first Tourney and they'll look good. I'm also working, feverishly, on getting Mercs done and am shooting to have them ready by the June or July events. My Mercs are taking forever due to the level of conversion work on the 'jacks alone; all 5 of them!!!

    Default Switching awards!

I would love to see Schmidty win a painted award, he has been putting in some extra effort in his painting and I would love to see the work pay off. I think he is trying a new list for the event and faction....

It would be nice to see your Mercs up and running. I have always love Magnus and his story line.

Either or, the goal is that all players have the list filled out so we don't have to wait for everybody to fill out army sheets on game day.

Correction to what I'm playing. My Cryx aren't at 50 points so I'm gonna bring Legion of Everblight. Probably gonna bring Lylyth.

Well, looks like I won't win Best Painted, Smoking Botts or the Sword. My wife's family reunion, in wonderful City Island, was moved up to the same day as the first event...

But, looks like I'm clear and available for most or all of the other ones; vacation and emergency depending.

Thats the beauty of this series....there are 3 more in case you miss the first one. If your goal is to get the extreme model, you can. That means there are 3 more swords, Painted Awards, and in Scmidty's case, 3 more Smoking Boots!

Had a good time despite snagging Smoking Boots (bleh) & Best Painted Single Mini (yay). Reminder to self that I have to read up on other factions so I don't get blindsided with stuff I don't know about.

And think about another Caster since pHourlok is either pants or I'm not using him correctly.

Your Totem Hunter was fantastic. I would advise checking out Callandra or eDoomshaper. When I was playing with trolls I was not a big fan of pDoomie.
