I was contemplating Warcasters and Warlocks one day when I had a glimpse of inspiration for a fun game mode. I thought I'd jot these down and see what you guys think.
Hero Mode!
Caster Player:
1 Warcaster
Their WJ/WB points plus 6 worth of Jacks/beasts. Character Warnouns may only be fielded with their "bonded" Caster (IE, Megalith with Baldur, Thorn with Haley etc...). The Big 4 Apotheosis jacks may not be fielded.
OpFor Player:
25 Points of anything, without a Warcaster.
Special Rules:
Hero Mode! Warcasters are always assumed to have their maximum Focus for the purposes of Overboosted Power Fields. Warlocks gain the ability to transfer one attack per round to nothing, negating the attack without dealing damage to their beasts.
Entrenched Position! The OpFor player may place 3/4 of the terrain to be used on the table in their advantage. Terrain must be placed in such a way that there are at least 2 gaps available to the objective large enough for a large base to pass through comfortably. (IE 3" spacing in two places on a solid wall, forests etc...) In addition, all units fielded by the OpFor gain Advance Move if they do not have it or Advance Deployment already.
Game Rules!
Type 1: Smash and Grab!
14" Hero deployment area. 10" OpFor deployment area.
Both Players designate an objective marker. The OpFor players objective is to protect the objective marker from the WarNouns for d3+2 turns.
The Hero Player must move either a Warjack/beast or his caster into b2b contact with the marker for one entire round. If the Hero is successful, they win. If the game ends before one round elapses, but the Hero Player has a model in contact with the objective it is a draw.
If the OpFor player successfully keeps the Hero character from making contact with the marker, OpFor is victorious.
What do you guys think? I've got a few more ideas I'm mulling around as well.
