great games, missing a couple regulars and still had 7 people hah.
No worries brant, its just one weekend. Also i think Mike and Cam are actually gonna paint all the rocks haha
Yeah, so Cam said he's going to paint all the stuff I brought in today (so 3 sets of mountains, and all the rocks on the large bases) I just didn't know what happened to the mountain ranges you cut up last weekend.
If they're not all done, it won't be the end of the world.
PS. 2000 Replies!!!!!!!!
LnL schedual is up! just one masters prelim, top 8 get to play on sunday. Cant wait till registration starts.. gonna have to get into the masters prelim.. hardcore.. and maybe blood sweat and tiers.
lots of seminars this time it seems too.
I think the staff realized how tiring it is running one of each tournament over two days.
Either way, it'll make the wins more significant, and glorious, as there's only one tournament of each. The Masters went way over time on both days last year.
They're also fitting a lot more seminars in this year, which puts a strain on the number of folks that can run the tournies.
But, what's cool is that Iron Arena is open until 1am every day. Get a lot of those games in, as there's a lot of really nice prizes available. It's also about just getting in a lot of games, and not if you win. You'll get 'Skulls' for prize redemption by participating in the tournies too.
I'm probably not going to sign up for much this time around, as far as seminars go. I'll play one day in the Iron Arena, and the rest of the time just take my kids around town. There's a kids museum, and the aquarium just down the road from the hotel, and we have free zoo tickets too. The extra day of the invitational will help me get my gaming fix in anyways.
I highly recommend taking the painting and sculpting seminars. They'll help you improve a ton, and give you loads of ideas for basing, and conversions.
yah, by the looks of it, i will be Iron Arenaing a good chunk i think. Definately do the Masters prelim and probably the hardcore. I'll also try to get into the modeling and painting seminars for sure.
Still looking forward to it, just one masters qualifier is confusing haha.
Hells yeah.......i'm stoked for this......the gears are rolling......not sure all what i'm gonna do, but i'm gonna be balls to the walls busy......that much i know
All of the painting seminars are a must. I sat in that seminar room for like 6 hours on the first day.
Take whatever you feel it is you need the most improvement in. I figure you can never learn too much.
The flesh one will be good, and I know the Army Painting Foundry is awesome. Meg's colour theory looks pretty good, as is the Studio painting with DiPietro....which is all of them I think.
Sean Bullough is the f-ing 'Man' when it comes to sculpting, so get in anything that he's running.
Yeah, I'm thinking I'll make sure to hit up a few seminars......realistically......most of them will be on the sunday......because I'm not going to try and kid anyone.....I probably won't be in the finals.
Don't sell yourself short. We have a pretty competitive meta, and a bunch of you guys are better than you might think.
Here's some food for thought; I didn't get trounced at all in hardcore last year. I went 1-3, but not a single loss was due to a 'caster kill. Everyone beat me by army points because my units were worth so much, and die to a stiff breeze.
So, make of that what you will. I have faith that you guys will do pretty well.
You could also sit in the seminar room all day. Whatever tickles your fancy.![]()
don't get me wrong......i'll do my damndest to place in the tourney........but i'm not going to hold my breath......if i lose....i lose and that's that....
So, the barn is modeled, carved, glued to it's base, and the base is sanded (although giving me some difficulty as it's wanting to warp the base i'm using.......have it in a "Press" and have laminated the back side with craft paper to try and flatten it out........the roof is in my spray booth primed on the inside.....sunday is going to be awesome!
Here's what I'm thinking looks good.
Painting:
Studio Painting Academy, Intro to Miniature Sculpting, Sculpting Scenic Bases, Customizing Miniatures, Painting Flesh and Colour Theory pretty much all of them
Fluff/ Info:
State of the Factions Address, Concept to Table: Level 7, Concept to Book and Maybe Life in the Iron Kingdoms.
Gaming:
Iron Arena
What day dose registration start, anyone know?
Cool to hear that a bunch of you guys from Calgary are going to Lock and Load as well. I think 6-8 of us already have the trip planned from the Red Deer area.
We should set up an Alberta Masters tournament before the big show![]()
We have one April 1st, but I might run one mid-May. I'm not sure though, as it's only two weeks from the end of the league to L&L, and I know a lot of us will be wanting practice with the tournament lists.
However, I could run a tournie about the same as L&L Master's; 4 lists, character restrictions, etc.
Yeah.....we'll have to try and get something going......unfortunately with our current sched, we're going to be tight to not only get some masters practice in, let alone a preview tourney.......although all the games after our april 1 tourney will be 50 points......I think I have 1 list at that size that I like.....the other 2 I haven't the foggiest idea......
Since so many of you guys are signing up for Masters....I might just do it too. One of the top guys who wins a lot of Masters is griping about the format at L&L this year, and he thinks he's going to face too many 'schlubs' due to the format, and get eliminated early.
I may have to sign up, just to increase the schlub factor of Masters. If for nothing else, then to piss some people off.![]()
Lol......maybe we should get a bunch of t-shirts made to wear that say "Calgary Team Schlub"
We would need 3.
