Easter Egg Menites: Wracks

I've had these since my daughter first started painting my Menoth army when she was 3, but we're just now getting to paint them. She also just recently painted min Deliverers, Amon and the Harbinger.

If you haven't seen the Easter Egg Menites before (and since my previous threads either disappeared in our recent forum hiccup, or have the links broken on the old forum site), the brief story:

When my daughter was 3 turning 4 she became really interested in the "little guys" I was painting. I had about 950pts painted Protectorate, but I thought it would be fun to let her do them, so I traded them all off for blank models and let her paint all of them! However, end of that year, I sorta stopped playing.

However, I'm back and last August before she turned 7, she started painting again. She's done Deliverers, Amon, Harbinger and these Wracks now. With the new releases coming out and the need for me to update my army with the stuff I missed (Vassals, Reznik, etc) -- she'll be painting a ton more soon.

We sit together and paint models (or she paints on paper) on the weekends. Since I have no more Menoth at the moment, she's been painting an array of random models I had for D&D and such. But she is really excited for me to start playing with my "Rainbow Guys" again, and is eager for me to buy new stuff. Templar, Crusader and Vanquisher will be coming as soon as I can get my hands on the new kits. I've already showed her the pics and she can't wait.

I do wish you would post in the painting sticky. I have shown your stuff to several people since I first found it. Unfortunatly I have had to warm up the old serch-fu to get it every time.

I think these are really beautiful! I am curious, do you give her colored washes and just let her go to town?

They are strangely, strangely, fantastic! It's definitely a completely different approach to painting figs than normal, but they're just GREAT! Tell her weird people on the internet think the paintjobs are really pretty!

Washes. I take normal acrylic paints and just pre-water them down for her. She sometimes takes the time to try and make stuff one color (gloves red, hat green) but due to the nature of the wash the areas blend together at the edges and they turn out very awesome because of that.

She's very happy when I put the pics online and she asks me if people like her army. I would LOVE to see them get into NQ -- my daughter would totally flip out.

Really, they look great. If you hadn't told us it's your doughters paintjob, i would have thought you are one of those worldclass painters trying out new things.

You should get some pics of them on a table. Tell your daughter that her paint job is awesome and people from all over the world are commenting/seeing them and showing them to their friends that dont even play the game.

I took them to GenCon in 2006. Several PPSers and a couple BrushThralls came over to comment on them. And later Matt Wilson said something to me about them when I was at the booth. Pretty damn cool.

I had some in action shots from when I played with them last (2006), but I lost them in a backup disaster.

I'll be playing again as soon as the new cards come out, so I'll post some shots then.
