Help with EStryker
Hey all, I was wondering if someone could give me any tips on how to defeat epic Stryker. So far, I've yet to win a game against him, and his insane 20" assassination move. Even Butcher at Def 19 has trouble vs his PS 30 attacks & 20inch assassination run. Currently I'm trying to learn the Old Witch, and Striker sure ain't making it easy for me. (not to mention the threat posed by Gun Mages and their thrice cursed UA)
Currently I have available:
Full WG +UA
Spriggan
Ragman (currently useless, have no units that work with him)
3 magnetised heavies with
1x deci
2x juggy
2x destroyer
1x Marauder
Widowmakers
Marksman
Doomies+UA
oh, and a War Dog
Anythign in there that might help me counter this beast? He's always accompanied by Rowdy and some gun mages, usually with Darius. the other stuff changes, but usually a couple of ranged jacks, trenchers etc.

Block LoS with Murder of Crows. Put the wardog a couple inches in front of your caster, so it can counter charge, then either Return in front of your caster or just leave him engaged. If you force him to use Velocity, he won't have a ton of focus to use on you. The more you damage him, the less he can supercharge

He doesn't need any focus left at all if he can 1 hit the OW, and last time he had no LOS, he pulled the assassination off from almost 16" away with one shot. He just walked through the forest to barely within 2" and ker-splat!
Chipping his health to make velocity dangerous sounds viable though, widowmakers might be up to it. I keep neglecting her feat as well, which might make her safe for one turn.
What I'm thinking (though I haven't tried) is using a kodiak as a bodyguard, or maybe doomreavers (sprinting so they can keep up in the forest) to ruin his approach- if there's no clear charge lane he can't do much. Maybe even use the dog, widowmakers, and marksman solo to ensure there are no lanes(hey, the unit themselves are inexpensive)
Or maybe a unit of WG with weald secrets can shepherd her through the forest. His trenchers have a formidable sniper rifle, which my jacks fear, stupid combined arms attack. His gun mages are also good for knocking my guys back, keeping me at bay, same if he has a defender. OW seems to be more of an infantry caster than a Jack one- have I been doing that right? Or should I take more than 2 jacks at 35pts?

Destroyer of Worlds
She is a board control caster, meaning you take whatever you want as long as it's self sufficient.
Also, what's so scary about the Trencher sniper? If he's using the Sniper rules, that's one damage a turn, if he's using the CRA, then he's within ten inches. He can't pop smoke and shoot in the same turn, either. If he's really messing up that one jack that badly, then go ahead and take two, or just make it a Devastator. Are you sure he's playing the Sniper correctly?
EDIT: Self sufficiency is good and all, but I almost always take at least one ranged and one melee jack on my caster. The Destroyer forces your opponent into uncomfortable positions with Arcing Fire :3

I always take a destroyer with OW, but since I got a faction deck, I might proxy a devastator using my spriggan. I think the kodiak is solid though. His trenchers being immune to blast is a pain. I should mention he's won every deployment roll off, so he always positions to counter me. I might just start positioning centre table so everything can go in any particular direction, I suppose. His gun mages keep my infantry at bay, since they have high def and true sight, and he always has his jacks marshalled, so he's on solid focus at all times. I hadn't realised how cumbersome the sniper is, he's only cuaght me with it once, and that was set up perfectly for a full CRA, but now that I think about it, I can take it
I know it's not an impossible battle by any means, but damn, he makes my head hurt. Tht and the OW is not an easy caster at all.

Destroyer of Worlds
damage him early, even a few points will reduce the chances of him overboosting for 3d6.

Victory!
It seems the way to defeat this particular monster is by making him run an impossible gauntlet/obstacle course of jacks and units if he wants to assassinate. Widowmakers can pop him for damage, scrappy can gallows him- all of them conspiring to make his life as difficult as possible. If he can't overboost, his assassination run is much worse, even if he uses Rolling Thunder to gain the extra move. Kodiaks throwing jacks at him doesn't help either. (though my kodiak fails dice rolls with alarming regularity), and venting steam is a great way to get him without having to get into melee range, or rolling against him impressive DEF. It was death of a thousand cuts, but in the end, he used a combination of velocity, blind movement in the forest, pathfinder, and reach to get into melee with the OW. And hit her once. He couldn't overboost, so she took relatively minor damage and quickly eviscerated him next turn.
Rest in pieces, Coleman Stryker.
I'm quite glad to finally see that particular demon laid to rest, he was giving me nightmares.
I also feel I've learned quite a few tricks with the Old Witch, she's definitely a difficult caster to learn but she seems extremely strong with her ability to manipulate circumstances. She doesn't so much kill casters as she does win battles.
