quick bit of clarification: i've spoken to a couple of people who plan on going to the Highlander, and there seems to be some confusion: do UA's count as solos? for example, could one bring both kovnik joe AND a WGI UA?

    thanks!

I didn't think so at first but then I saw the sign under the trophies for the highlander and it says warcaster or warlock, one light warjack or beast, one heavy warjack or beast, one solo, and one ua. Don't take my word as the final one as I'm not running the tournaments.

On a side note, I read the bonus points wrong for the league and will be fixing point totals. Derp. I'll be emailing out the corrected ones.

Hmm, I didn't think there were too many gator players at CK. Then again, I'm not usually there on Tuesdays or Wednesdays.

Yes, yes... But how much of my army had actually fallen to reptilian jaws? I'm going to say half. Well, maybe "halves", since so many fine Nyss fighters got snipped in twain!

Me and a bunch of my co-workers are all heading up tomorrow (an hour drive for most of us, but totally worth it) for the new league! This will be my first league, so I'm amped to get my minis down on the table and start earning patches!
Hope to see many of you there!

    Best,

Sweet! I'll be there early to try to get a game or two in before I work! Be aware guys, we will be running four Magic prereleases this weekend so the store should be extra busy.

I'm gonna try to be in the store at 10 AM to 4 PM on Saturday and Sunday for games. I need two more team games and practice with my Highlander list.

I just moved to Issaquah from Portland. What nights are happening around here? Any active community/club sites to visit? I saw someone mention Tues-Fri, which shops and what time?

Well, this here thread is for Card Kingdom in Ballard (north Seattle). Our regular nights are Tuesday and Wednesday, 6pm to close. You'll also often find folks coming in on the weekends, but that's a little less reliable.

Check out www.removedfromplay.com - it's a forum for the Puget Sound area WM/H community, and check the Casual Play forum for people looking to get in games on non-standard days!

Reminder: this is the last week of the Olgunholt League. It also means I get to sleep in after this! Still not too late to try to get last minute games in and show me your completed Jacks/Beasts and Casters/Warlocks for the hobby patch! A lot of people are a game or two away from getting their Alliance patches too.

Also, prereg for the Highlander this Saturday in open at CK!

Hmmm... don't think I'm going to be able to squeeze 2 alliance/team games as well as a 25 pointer into my 4 hours this week. I can at least get my Combat badge reqs knocked out!

Just want to say I had a blast playing in the league, and am a little sad I wasn't able to get more games in.

Either way, I think I qualified for a couple more patches, but still need to pick them up, which I might try to do this week.

I'd be willing to pay $5 more per league ticket to fund a bunch of basic 25-point armies the PGs can run to help people get their Alliance badges. Or to truck in a Skorne player from time to time. >_>

But yeah, that was hella fun!

Hey, any of you seattle players feel free to friend me. I'm from yelm/Oly and didn't even know a lot of this stuff existed until recently. I'm currently stationed in Japan, so I probably won't be able to stop by, but if I get a chance, I definately will.

Well, unfortunately the PGs that usually come to CK have been busy with other things lately. That's also part of the reason why I run the league instead. It sounds like the alliance badge is the most problematic of all of the badges. People do not want to play team games, they take too long, no alliance faction. That's partially why I made it so if you played four team games with anyone, you could get the badge. And Skorne/Ret are probably the least played. I know three people with Skorne and only one regularly comes in and he likes his Cygnar better. Anyway, I'm still open for comments/concerns so we can make the next league better.

Now to just figure out the five warcaster painting issue...

On the five warcaster painting issue, I saw your other thread in general discussion about that, but I think I'd rather post my thoughts here so it's less like to become "ZOMG Infernal rule" crap.

(To be clear, the following is NOT an official response, endorsement, etc.)

For factions which have fewer than five Warcasters/Warlocks, which mainly hits if someone is wanting to stick with just a particular contract or pact (stupid Blindwater only has three warlocks currently), I kind of liked your suggestion of allowing a solo in place for the painting requirement for the Hobby badge. Another option would be to include lesser warlocks or jack marshals, for those factions who have one that will work for them. for the Combat badge, bare minimum of playing one game with every available warcaster/warlock for that contract or pact, then, and only then, allowing one additional game to count towards the five for each. So, for example, Blindwater would have to play a game with each of their warlocks (3) before any additional games with a warlock already played would count. Not sure, really, but that seems the closest to fair that I can come up with.

Obviously, for factions or contracts which have five or more available warlocks/warcaster's, no special arrangements.

And fwiw, I plan on going back to Cryx for this league, so unless there are other merc or minion pact players, you don't need to worry about my Blindwater this time.

I know my coworker who plays Searforge would really like to be able to get the hobby badge without having to use non-rhulic models. He's stubborn, like—well, you know... a dwarf.

Also, I'd be happy to play team games this time around... (PoM + Cryx? Circle + Legion? Either way I go, MADNESS!)

Hey, so I'm getting ready to move to Seattle in June (Capitol Hill/Madison area) and I'm guessing CK is going to be ground zero of gaming for me. Anything I should know as far as the best game days/nights?

Tuesdays/Wedesdays are the 'official' nights. As you make friends and get people's phone numbers you could realistically plan ahead for any night of the week.

I myself am usually up for Monday night combat.

Good to see everyone during Lock and Load! I dunno about you guys but I need a break after all the games I played. 22 opponents... I almost filled out the lock and load iron arena sheet. I picked up the bodgers games if anyone wants to play.

  37. #517

Wow... 22 opponents? That would take me... about 66 hours! (That's if I hurry!)

When does league officially start? I'm going to need to pick up some 'casters tomorrow and get painting.

Spent some quality time with Ol' Rowdy this week and he's 95% painted. Looking forward to trying him against something other than a Mountain King.
