So, Card Kingdom has more terrain than they can use now. A few forests to keep the circle player happy, perhaps, but an absolutely HUGE amount of terrain 'appeared' in the shop thanks to an awesome Warmahordes player.

Yeah, he does. It was from an old Necromunda campaign he did and the terrain is fantastic! There were some 40K players who were enjoying it as well. I love the propaganda posters on some of the terrain.

Another great wargaming night at Card Kingdom! I got a great game in—it was intense right down to the final roll of the dice, and it looks like we're getting a good spread of different factions showing up! If I caught everyone, I think we're up to potentially two Protectorate players, a Khadorian or two, a Circle player, a Cryx/Legion player, and a Cygnar/Legion/Protectorate player. A nice spread! Lots of people checking things out, so be sure to show up with your army next week to throw some dice. Hope to make it, but maybe someone will be up for a game or two on Saturday as well? We shall see...

That's my count too. If the redditors show up again next week, we should have a few more people on Tuesday nights. (Also, CKKris is a Skorne player, right?) A good friend of mine is just getting into trolls, and his army is being shipped up from his family's home.

At that point we'll have everything but a Retribution player! Boom. And I'd play on the occasional Saturday. I can't commit to every Saturday, but from time to time for sure.

Sounds like the community is growing steadily. I'll swing out probably in about two weekends, since this weekend is Lock & Load. Actually, I will be swinging by today/tonight to grab a copy of Wrath (assuming it's not all gone by the time I get off work).

I don't think they have any. I asked about it last night. I think now that they are actually getting players playing Warmahordes, they'll start keeping their stocks more closely aligned with demand. (They are a new shop, and I don't think they had any Warmahordes players on their staff when they started. Now they do.)

Well, officially, Wrath is released today. So it's possible that they were holding for release day, which is what they should be doing. If they really didn't get any in, then, well, that's a pretty big mistake if they're going to carry any Warmachine stuff at all, honestly.

Like I said, they are a brand new shop. Have they been open for 1 month yet, CKKris? Now that they have a PP community developing, I expect they'll be more on top of things from here out.

Well, just got off the phone, and they apparently don't have any in. Disappointing.

I know they're a new shop, but basic retail practice says you should probably order the new releases for anything you carry. I don't want to be too negative, but given how much other Warmachine/Hordes stock they had, it's a little surprising they didn't get any.

I made sure they had some ordered when I came in last time. (As well as some staples for the faction I'm familiar with, Menoth.) I noticed they didn't have any choir, for example (maybe I missed them) as well as a bunch of things I plan on buying in the near future: Vassal of Menoth, Daughters, KEE, etc.

CKKris/Darq, would it be helpful to you to have a list of minis that pretty much every Menoth player should have? (Like the choir).

You know, I've got to give you props for taking my comment the way it was meant: as constructive criticism. Glad you didn't get ultra defensive and so on. I think this is definitely a "growing pain" of a new store, so I'm glad that you are aware of it and recognize it as something to fix. It's always a hard call on what to stock, too, because it's easy to over-order or under-order, and typically either one gets you annoyed customers. And you don't want a bunch of stuff sitting on your shelves; you want it turning.

I'd be happy to help give you a list of "must haves" for Cryx after this week, too, if you'd like. There are definitely a few common choices that almost every Cryx player uses (I'm looking at you, Skarlock). Some of them might be hard to get in, though, since PP has had some distribution issues on older stuff for a little while.

Cool, I can totally chat with you about what I've seen as "usual takes" for Cryx at L&L, perhaps over a beer break from Iron Arena. Just look for the penguin icon on a button on my badge...

I've been remiss in keeping this thread up to date! I blame the Fremont fair. I was out watching the naked bicyclists rather than posting here. Anyhow, come on down to Card Kingdom this Tuesday, 6/21, and we'll play us some Warmahordes!

Hey nikkeironin (I'm pretty sure that was you), you left your newly purchased wet erase markers at the counter. I put a note on them and they're waiting behind the register.

We had 3 out of 4 tables filled with Warmahordes last night! I really wish I could play with you guys. And for anyone who can't make it on Tuesday (I know I've spoken to a few), we could set up a secondary Warmahordes day. I'll harass CKKris about it... the more minis the better.

Last night saw 9 players, from my count. 3 Menoth, 2 Khador, 2 Cygnar, 1 Rhulic, 1 Circle. We had players playing at every skill level, and paintedness. Even had a PP employee drop in for a while. A good time was had by all. Also, they have Wrath in stock now.

Darq/CKKris -- instead of having two tabletop nights, maybe make tuesdays Warmahordes (not that I want to exclude people, but we are more or less making it a defacto warmahordes day.) Plus, having Warmachine on a calander might prompt people to check out the game.

As Darq has mentioned, people can bring in their minis and play any day of the week as long as we're open. The tables are always free and tend to be open 7 days a week. Tuesdays was just the day that I set aside because that's a day that I have off that I can come in and play.

With that being said, I can't make Tuesdays a Warmachine/Hordes night for a few reasons.

1.) It shows favouritism, which I've mentioned before I don't do. I love all of my miniatures and it would be unfair for the rest of the miniatures community at Card Kingdom to make Tuesdays open for only one system.

What happens if someone drives all the way up from the Tacoma/Lakewood area to play Warhammer Fantasy with a friend because they heard Card Kingdom was a great shop to play in and they're immediately turned away because their game isn't allowed on Tuesdays.

2.) It's one of my days off and I'd like to feel welcome to play also. Sure, I love my Skorne army (and I'm slowly adopting a Cygnar force) but there are days when I'd rather play Warhammer Fantasy or WH40k, or even bring in my space mat and play Battlefleet Gothic.

I hope you guys are understanding. I wouldn't make Tuesdays a Warhammer 40k only night if the 40k community asked, because it would be unfair for you guys. This works both ways.

Yup, I fully understand not making an exclusive night for any system.

Darq: I think I saw you at L&L, but didn't get a chance to say hi or give you a list of Cryx "must haves." I'm sure you saw quite a bit of Cryx at L&L, but if you'd still like a list of typical purchases, just let me know and I'll shoot you a PM.

I came by last night with my friend, and got a game in with my Cygnar. Very nice store you have there, a lot nicer than where I play during school.

The terrain you have is nice, but it seems to be more sci-fi themed. Some walls/hedgerows, hills and forests would go a long way for both WM/H and both GW systems. I am looking to build some terrain to build up a personal collection, and I could either lend it to you guys for the summer, or just make enough for both myself and the store. Probably some walls and buildings/ruins, I'll let you know what I can do.

Also, this might just be me, as I have bad eyes, but the lighting over the gaming tables was a bit dim.

That said, I think I've found my weekly gaming spot for the summer. See you next week.

I can bring in some low stone walls next week. I'm certainly not running any miniatures games in my basement any time soon, so we might as well get some use out of what little terrain I've got sitting around. Pity that all of my geohex terrain is hex-marked (I bought it for Battletech way back in the day).

(Oh, for those who don't already know, I'm the Circle player)

I know, I know. It totally makes sense, I just like to give you guys a hard time. Doesn't stop me from wanting them to be warmachine Tuesdays! I'm pretty excited to see so many people showing up, although I'm going to have to start throwing elbows around if I want any Vassals of Menoth. So many Menites! (Rad!)

We still need forests! Most of the donated terrain was 40k/Necromunda that can be worked into service for WM. We still need walls/forests. (And maybe rough terrain bits? Mud/water/ice?)

Nah, it's not just you. My friends Rob and Geof and I were playing a 9k Warhammer Fantasy game down there a couple weeks ago and Rob was complaining about the lack of light making things hard to see, as well as making it seem very gloomy and depressing to be in the minis room.

I'm going to let someone know if we can light it up in there ASAP.
