Hey i am looking to start menoth, and i am want to do a rich purple. i am wondering what i should add to it to lighten it up but still keep it rich. anyone have any suggestions?

What I would do, in your position, is experiment with the opposite order of operations. The fundamental flaw here is that lighter colors do not cover darker colors easily, but darker colors cover lighter colors easily enough. One line of experimentation is therefore more merciful than the other, if that makes any sense.

Try glazing with washes to tint the model to the desired effect. I would paint the area blue, and then apply a red wash liberally over the blue field. The open spaces would then largely be a light, blue-leaning purple, while the edges and nooks would be dyed a deeper, more rouge reddish purple.

If the effect is not to your liking, you can wait till its completely dry and glaze again with either a blue or purple wash, or try it painting red with a blue wash. You want a lot of variance in the transition between colors, and without a great deal of intensive blending, you won't accomplish that just by painting a flat purple onto the model. Paint up through the component colors that make up purple and see how it goes.

in miniatures the scale is quite small. at tabletop level the trick isn't to fool around with the purple but to fool around with the other colours.
