Strakhov's 501st: Urban Assault Division (with detailed photos of my Gun Tank)

I like to end up painting my Khador in a lot of different paintschemes, because

a) I get bored easily
b) it makes sense that Khador would have different colours for different purposes

For example, I've got my Winter Camo Scheme, and my Autumnfall division.

So while I do paint the basic red scheme for my Khador, I recently made some tweaks to it to turn it into my Urban Assault Division. And hence the 501st was born.



It's still mainly the usual red Khador scheme, but I added some urban terrain, battle damage and suchnot to the mix. Hope you guys like it, and hopefully I'll get off my arse, start magnetizing Torch, and add him to the battlegroup!

And more photos. I've had my Gun Tank described as both 'a really scary fire truck' and 'like that metal slug tank', which I take as compliments.

And yes, a lot of this was inspired by Scud. His conversion was AWESOME.

Dude! I heart the hell out of that. Even if people say it's crap on the board I'd play it. Winterguard and assault kommandos almost make me want to start a khador force. Almost (I'm too poor for a new faction).

Your battle tank is a huge improvement on the PP battle engine. IMO the horses ruin it (barely fits on a base for a start), your alternative works much better as a whole and looks great with Straka and the WG. Nice colours and clean work on the whole force too, well done.

That middle horizontal plate above the dozerblade would be the perfect place to put a name for your tank perhaps scribed/stenciled on by the crew. "Sacha" perhaps...

That's one gorgeous conversion! If I hadn't known it originally has horses I would have never guessed it was a conversion.

Thanks for the props guys! I love me some strakhov; I just need to figure out how to use him properly (haven't been able to get the hang of him yet).

And nik: that's the weird thing! I actually hated the AK sculpt, but while painting I soon grew to love them (well hate them less). They're surprisingly easy to paint up and look good. These guys were literally basecoat and Devlan mud. Finished 6 in less than a week (1-2 hrs painting per session).

You know, if you really don't like the ponies but don't want to make a tank you could have a warjack pull it instead.

Like some of the Khadoran fanatics, I think that some people chafe at Khador being stuck in the horse and carriage age when Cygnar is walking around in war of the worlds type lightning shooters. I like my post-industrialized Khadoran War Machines thankyouverymuch

Somehow missed this thread the first time round, but saw your tank in the recently bumped BEs thread. And god damn that thing is amazing. First thing that came to mind was that it was a Metal Slug, funny to see how many other people picked up on this.

Same here. Missed this the first time around. I'm surprised it didn't get more responses. This is a really cool idea. You come up with some really neat ideas and execute them very well. This is my favorite one yet.
