Thread: L&L Rahn List

    Default L&L Rahn List

Hey guys, trying out my Retribution for L&L Hardcore and was hoping to get some thoughts on the list.

    Rahn
    Magister
    Magister
    MHA
    MHA
    Narn
Dragoon...elf names are hard to spell of memory
    Discordia
    Phoenix
    Chimera
    Sentinels w/UA and Soulless
    Mechanic
    Mechanic

Ive play tested this about seven times and have done well, so far only change Ive made and stuck with was replacing Battle Mage unit with the Dragoon. It cut down on the model count for activation purposes and gives me a cruise missile with Rahn for casterkill runs. At this point Im concerned with facing casters/locks that shut down arcs and spell casting (another reason for the dragoon replacement). Right now the models Ive considered swapping in are a Manticore and a Cav solo. Both would help me with the ranged attack aspect my list currently lacks.
Any suggestions or thoughts would be great. Thanks in advance.

Interesting that you dropped the battle mages for the fane knight, and while there is certainly no doubting his hitting power I can't help thinking you are cutting off your nose to spite your face a little in regards to Rahn's feat. At the very least my suggestions would be:

Drop the Fane Knight for the battle mages, even a POW13 weapon master with two attacks loses out to 6 RNG12 POW10 crit KD shots with boosted attack and damage rolls (straight swap no points increase)
Drop one arcanist and one MHA for an artificer, again his spells bring a lot of pure power and Rahn can help him keep up with the jacks boosting them to DEF14 on the advance. Also his magno blast spell combined with chain blast or the the Phoenix's gun make for some nasty nasty combos (straight swap no points increase)

I do think that Sentinels are great with Rahn, but I would be tempted to drop them for full houseguard with UA, they can advance under shield guard only one inch less per turn than the Sentinels can run due to reform and generally have 3 more ARM and 3 more DEF against charges, meaning you can generally leave Polarity field to stop one of your jacks getting charged. Also MAT10 POW14 on the charge under mini feat will generally be more than enough to deal with most units on the mini feat turn.

Thanks for the quick response. Im totally on board with the houseguard over the Sentinels in this format, my only issue is them getting painted prior to the event probably isnt going to happen. Ill try out the MHA/Arcanist swap this weekend and see how it fits my play style, I like the idea. So far, I haven't had to much of an issue with knocking things down between Rahn and the 2 Magisters, the times I did have them in the list 2 of 4 games were up against stealth heavy lists. I was able to maneuver around the issue but noticed the effectiveness of the Dragoon immediately after the swap. For my style he also gives me another option on top of the MHA/Narn to take advantage of Rahns huge threat range.

Thanks again for the comments, keep em coming. Im a Cygnarian at heart but these crazy a$$ elves are fun to play.
