    Default Tabletop Commander MK II

Any word on the status of this project?

I'm hoping to hear something on that, too.

I assume Wayvern is on it. He's a regular guy like the rest of us (well, except Devilsquid and Polar_Bear, they're a cross between seraphim and Chuck Norris), so he could have things on his plate. He's a PG, so....that's all I got.

I checked yesterday, too. I want Table Top Commander MKII also.

Even though you like Tabletop Commander better then Forward Kommander. You can use it for now, because it already has MK2 support (http://www.forwardkommander.com)

The ability to use Forward Kommander at work or on the move makes it very cool. Tabletop Commander is great as well, I love 'em both.

It would be super useful for Field Testing if pretty much everyone would use this program and just make a ton of armies for different factions. People often claim "X is too expensive, or I'll never find a place for this" in cases where they would be under no such illusion, if they actually went and experienced how the army fits together and what you can afford to take along with what else.

It's like the whole "play it before you knock it" saw, only for force creation. You can learn invaluable amounts of insight to points costs by doing this.

Amen to that Zenassassin, I'm using Forward Kommand for now, just because it's the best option for MKII, but Tabletop Commander is solid, I can more easily save it and move things around to my hearts content, I've made radical changes to armies based on what I can see on getting to fill holes with Tabletop Commander.

On that note; any offical word on it's MKII update? We'll all give you hugs if you tell us!

I sent the author an email a few weeks back and here is what he had to say (in reference to when MKii rules will be usable):

"I'm shooting for a mid to late December release date for an alpha version. Most, but not all of the functionality will be present, but it will get rounded in through the following weeks."

Good to hear, still twitching to use it. Forward Kommander is fine and all, but spelling errors that bug me and just wanna be able to use it if my net is down and have a better visual list ><

    Guess I need to wait a few more weeks . . .

It's progressing but slower than I had hoped. My family and I have been passing the flu back and forth so a bulk of my free time has been spent recovering.

I think I speak for many in saying I anxiously await a MKII version of TT Commander. However, I also hope I speak for everyone in saying I hope you and yours are feeling better and have a wonderful Christmas.

It is still progressing. I didn't have nearly as much time over the holidays as I wanted, with being sick an all. But I'm getting pretty close to the alpha release.

cant wait to have a peek at the alpha mate - will you leave the option of MKI in the new version?
    Cenobyte - he forgot hookers.

Hello all. I promise that I am working on the next version. A few major things are changing in the next Tabletop Commander which will make it more versatile.

The main problem I have had is the flu over the holidays and getting slammed at work since. I am close to the alpha release though. For real.

If you finish TT:MKII, I'll move back to Ohio, man.

As I understand it, he can't. The minute he starts taking money for TTC, legal issues crop up. He would have get an official license from Privateer and it would get all complicated.

If you wish to support him, your best bet is to let him know how much you appreciate his work. Or if you live closer to him, buy him a pizza, mow his lawn, or something similar.

I would totally mow his lawn, this program is worth it. Pizza only if I can hang with him when he's feeling better

    Question

As I was working magnets into my new plastic kit, I started to wonder if Wyvern has a plan to accommodate the kits. You know, some way to show all 3 'jacks as available but to allow only one of the three 'jacks per kit. Is that possible?

My guess is that is probably too far out of scope for most use cases. Since that's an aspect of the collection piece, it would probably require more work in there than he planned on--I'd bet the collection code wouldn't really need any adjustment otherwise for Mk II, just the army building code.

That said, I'm hoping to see an update soon.

Yeah, I was just thinking of possibilities. I'm still hoping all 'jacks start coming in kit form.

I would much rather have the update sooner than have special kit code added.

The design for the new collections aspect will actually take this into account, though the alpha release will not contain the collection functionality. That will get added in after the army building parts are mostly finalized.

And as an update, I have gotten some time as of late and have been making progress. As long as things continue as they are, I should have the alpha ready in a couple of weeks. Really this time. So just hold on a bit longer.

After the alpha, the plan is to have a semi regular updates to get the rest of the functionality ironed out through the alpha and beta releases.

lol Things are shaping up nicely and it is looking like the alpha release will be sometime this coming weekend. To be clear an alpha release is an incomplete version and likely to contain bugs. So don't expect a complete and polished product.

Well, now I've found this link I'm happy. I've had to resort to using a pen since switching over to MKII...

Seriously though, I do love this program, it'll save me a ton of screwed up and thrown away paper.

This is my biggest problem, I just don't like being limited to having to be online, I also really liked the general format of Tabletop Commander.
