Default How to deal with breath of corruption?

So I play a lot of games against my friend who plays cryx, and he almost always plays Asphyxious. He runs two deathrippers to serve as arc nodes, and I'm really getting tired of him dropping BoC on my units of IFP and WG. It's not really the pow 12 that i care about, but the auto point of dmg that they take next turn. He basically takes out half my unit with one AoE, saying he doesn't cast it twice. Is there anyway you know to deal with this, other than screening with units like MoW? And no, running AK for the immune to corrosion is not an option.

So far, the only solution i found is to run eVlad and cast wind blast on the AoE to "blow away" the cloud that he made.
We do have Arc Nodes. Our primary spell is called "Axe to the Face". All our Juggernauts, Destroyers, Berserkers, and even some character jacks can serve as arc nodes for "Axe to the Face."

I'm assuming that he is engaging your units as well, otherwise you can just walk out and take no damage I believe.

Yeah, you only take damage from entering it or ending activation in it. (Or from the initial pow 12, which ought to be enough to kill all the winterguard and half the pikemen caught under the template.)

Spreading out is less of an option with pikemen, if you want shieldwall. But they could cluster in 2s or 3s, which would limit the amount hit. And he definitely shouldn't be able to hit half a unit of winterguard with one 3" template.

Oh wow. we've just been reading the rule wrong. He thought that it meant as soon as i begin my activation, i take the damage. Thank you very much for that.

EDIT- but wouldn't starting my activation in the AOE count as entering it? Or am i missing something

Nope, you take the POW 12 when he puts the cloud up. After that, you only take damage if you move into the cloud, or if you end your activation in the cloud. If you start in the cloud, but move out of the cloud, you don't take the damage.

Any game you walk away from knowing why it ended, and how to repeat or avoid that conclusion in the future, is a victory.

Best defence is a good offence! As was mentioned, nobble the Arc Nodes. Widowmakers are excellent for this, and WGRC with Joe mince bonejacks.

Apart from the eVlad spell, I don't know of any way to get rid of it when it's in play.

If you know that's going to be an issue, try using your light infantry as a second wave. Start with your jacks a good 10" or so in front of your infantry, kill their nodes, and then send in your 1HP models.

If you're not in a position to kill the arc nodes, running your IFP to engage them works as well, since arc nodes can't channel spells if they're engaged in melee. Your opponent might risk the free strike anyway to free up his arc node, so if you do engage, try to do it with multiple models on each arc node.
