Default Gaming Around New Haven, CT

I'm going to be moving up to New Haven shortly, and Clockwork Comics is the closest store to where I'm moving registered with PP, although there is also DJ's Comics about as far from me as Clockwork Comics. And not too much farther from me than either one of those is Gaming Etc Tournament Center, which is also registered with PP. Then there's also Alternate Universe in New Haven itself, though it also is not registered with PP.

Anyway, I was wondering how active the WarmaHordes communities are at these stores. I'm guessing the most activity is at Clockwork and Gaming Etc, as DJ's and Alternate Universe aren't registered with PP. Are there any other shops where people play that I'm missing? Also of note is that at first I likely won't have a car, so being accessibly by public transportation is kinda a must.

I live in Connecticut myself, and I'm not exactly sure how far Southington, CT is for you. But there is a fairly large WarmaHordes crowd a Flagship Gaming there. Also there is Sarges Comics in New London, and while I haven't been personally, I know there is Warmahordes going on there too.

I've never heard of Gaming Etc (though that doesn't mean very much), but I know that Clockwork has just 1 table so I hear it can be a problem to get a game if there are multiple people there.

    Hope that helps

I used to live right down the street from Clockwork Comics a few years ago (about... 4 years ago now, I think) and when I was going there they were just barely starting to get into Warmahordes. 40k was their game of choice at the time. The owner was really friendly though and said that people were getting interested in the game, so you might have some luck with it. I remember Clockwork having 3 tables, but Centum might have been there much more recently than myself and would know better.

Thanks for the info. As for Flagship, that's about 40 minutes from where I'm going to be, and Sarge's is about an hour. Clockwork and DJ's are about 15 minutes away, though again DJ's isn't registered with PP so I don't know if they carry any PP stuff. Gaming Etc is about 20 minutes away, they claim to have the largest gaming space in CT. I think Alternate Universe might be closest to me, and most easily accessible by the New Haven buses, as it's in New Haven proper, but again, it's not listed with PP, and from what I've read of it, it seems to really only carry comics, not much in the way of miniatures.

When/if you get your own transportation, there's a group of us up in Danbury/Brookfield. We meet twice a week, with frequent weekend events.

Another option (not a retail spot) is to check out the yahoogroup for The CT.U.W.C.(Connectcut Ultimate Wargaming Group). They are one of the oldest Warmachine focused groups in CT and have members from various areas some of which are close to you.

Some of them play at the stores mentioned here, and they also hold their own monthly gaming nights at members houses or various game stores.

As for their own game nights: They have more tables and terrain then most stores and a solid playerbase including a PG.

Even if you don't have any desire to game with them they could be a good source of what the various scenes are like at the stores mentioned here.

    Good luck.

here is the url to their yahoogroup:

There is a group of us who are from the CTUWC who play in the Woodbury/Naugatuck area at our houses so if you are looking for a game you can always join the CTUWC just to pop around and ask questions

One of our guys plays at Clockwork regularly and they play on Wednesday nights? Not exactly sure on the night but I know they play there like once a week.

DJ's is anti-PP. He bought a bunch of stuff but his guys are GW fanboi's and PP isn't really welcome there.

Alternate is a really good store but I don't think they have ever carried more then a couple battle boxes and they don't really have game space.

Gaming Etc. is a huge store. Very nice tables. I've never played a game there but PG13-Dan (one of three CT PG's) has eluded to running some events there in the near future.

Hope that helps and if you ever want to set up a game in Woodbury or I can travel down your way (it's roughly 45 mins but only like 20 miles) I am always looking for a game

    Shane/Jestor

P.S. - Bob - Does the store stay open later on nights yall game? I know Pat (one of the CTUWC guys) goes down and likes your group in Brookfield. I wouldn't mind heading down there once or twice a week but I have to head back to Woodbury after work to feed the pup and walk him which means I can't get down there till 7ish.

Hey there! I live in New Haven myself. I used to head to Flagship comics a lot. Wednesday nights has a hell of a warmachine crowd. I used to play 4 - 5 games a week for close to 6 months straight with MKII was released.

Other good news for you. A store is openning in the next 2 months in Branford. It's going to be a gaming only store and will have 6 - 10 full tables. Each night will have a game associated with it and I'm sure warmachine and hordes will get some serious attention. The owner has over 250 points of Legion of Everblight. You can PM me if you want more info.

    Col Festus is Right!!

I am opening a store on Main st. Branford. We will have a really big Warmachine/Hordes following and I will have the full line of product depending on distributor stock levels.

I will be posting on here when we open.

You can also search "CT Gamers Association" on facebook and like our fan page for more information as we progress.

QFT - I showed up there last night and they have a great crowd to play with and possibly the best stock of any store in CT. I was amazed when they had the models I was looking for

I will be opening a store in the Branford Area within the next month or so (i hope, still waiting on the loan process). WarmaHordes will be very popular there. The branford train station is 1/4 mile from the proposed store location, and i believe their is also a public bus system.

Hey Shane, I'm one of the members of Bob's group. The store recently moved back to New Milford, but they let us use one of their extra rooms just for our gaming almost any night we want. While the store doesn't stay open later for us to game, a lot of the members have begun playing on Saturdays all day. Stop on by when you get the chance!

It's going to be a bit before I get there as I am going away this Saturday and Foodmachine is next Saturday in Orange. I will definately try and get there some Saturday in January though. I'm like 15-20 minutes from there so it's an easy jump for me

Sarge's does support Warmachine and Hordes, and the best day for play would be Saturdays (12Noon-8PM) for anyone in the area.

Another New Haven resident here. New player, just joined the league at Clockwork Comics in Orange as a member of the boys 'n girls in blue. PM me if you want to organize a trip out to Clockwork for a league game, or play one in town.

Unfortunately, my first game ended badly for Strkyer after Morghoul was through with him, so it wasn't a particularly auspicious start...

BergerFett, any news on your shop? I'll be moving down that way in April (living just near the east haven/Branford line) so your store sounds like it would be my closest stop, if all your planning went well.

Hey everybody. I live in New Haven and I'm looking to find some people to play with. I currently play 40k and Fantasy but would also like to get into Warmachine too. Really, just want people to play with. Which game is less important but I do love fantasy. Anybody play a little of everything and want to get some games in?

We play Warmachien at Clockwork Comics in Orange (about 10 minutes or less from you) on Monday nights and some times on the weekends. I know some of the guys also play the GW games. Stop on down some Monday and check us out!

I stopped in today to pick up a few things I needed as a new player starting out. Looks like a great store, Monday nights don't really work for me, but if there's going to be future weekend games, please let me know!

I'm just in New Haven and I'm also a new player and I'm going to be looking to get some games in too. I haven't yet purchased anything yet but will be soon. Would love to play some time in the near future. What faction did you settle on? I'm looking at Menoth.

I'm currently a strictly Searforge Merc player. Eventaully I'll branch out and snag a few other units to be able to play 4* or Highborn effectively. But for now, its all Rhul all the time!
