    Default contemplating Cryx

I have been playing Wm for a long time and have a pretty extensive collection of Menites, and a lesser force of Legion. However, having gotten a game in against Cryx for the first time in a long while I am curious about what would need to go into a list. Not sure I am going to do it, am interested enough to want a list and put a dollar value on it.

Here is what I am thinking, I like both Denegra and Gaspy in Prime. I am thinking about building a 35 point list that would be competitive (dosn't have to be killer). I am looking for something that attempts to win by arc node assassination, though a backup victory method is always nice. I was hoping you guys might suggest some list for this.

This will be something of an expeditionary force, meaning I am not looking to start collecting the whole faction only have a fairly effective list that can swap casters. I might add some small and specific variations later.

Also as a general rule what do you guys use to clear out a lane for an arc node assassination run?

The good news is that Deneghra and Asphyxious can be swapped out in most lists with almost no changes. Both casters do well with the same types of models. For a well-rounded army, I'd recommend the following as a start:

    2-4 arc nodes (probably Nightwretches)
    a Skarlock
    full unit of Bile Thralls
full unit of Mechanithralls with 1-3 Brutes
a helljack if you want one

You can add from there as you like. In MK I, I used to field a pair of Pistol Wraiths for the assassination run but in MK II, I find Stalkers seem to fill that role now. I'd consider Gorman for his general usefulness and Bane Thralls to give you something with Stealth.

As for clearing a path, I never used anything specific. Usually, I could get a node around the flanks of the enemy's army rather than having to go through it. But Biles can clear a path through anything but heavy armor.

If you want arcnode I would go with the corrupter potentially, it keeps to your theme and allows you to (maybe) get the surprise arc node while still being able to hit. Plus, arc nodes - range, and it has a ranged attack.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but an enemy model that is turned into an arc node by Psycho Venom still uses the standard arc node and channeling rules - namely the LOS of a channeled spell is determined using the facing of the enemy model. Except for certain situations, I don't think it will be very useful.

You're not wrong, WMPlayer I think that the AoE shot and the healing shot are way better choices in most cases, but the possibility for making an arc node anywhere, more or less, where you need it (even if it's based on the LoS of the boxed enemy model) is very powerful.

I like the corruptor for 1 reason:

it's a heavy (large base mixed with possible arc node creation).

Sometimes you want a heavy and you want one more node. Most likely you'll never need that one more node... But it's handy to have. The corruptor will be able to slam large based model, throw large based model, trample etc... And in the worst case create an arc node...

I'll agree that it could be powerful in the right situations. But I wouldn't count on it for a node assassination army.

Agreed, if you are going run an Arc node assassination army, you should stick to your guns (so long as the deathripper is still a "gun")
The only downside I see is the Corrupter needing some heavy damage support, I just don't see him taking down heavy Jacks.
