Default Cygnar - now really mercenaries in Blue and bone.

Well I thought I had a Cygnar thread set up here, but seemingly not. My Cygnar now largely have a halves scheme of blue and bone, but really since all the tier lists came along I'll let you into a secret. My Cygnar are really Mercenaries. I think I have a few casters who hold out, but even our new girl has embraced being a Merc proudly and is off to join the Resistance. So this thread is going to end up covering both my Mercs and my Cygnar. With the exception of one Cyclone most of the Cygnar stuff I have to paint is largely for Merc armies now.

Last night I finished Constance. Bear in mind these are closer shots so pick up stuff which is excentuated on a model like this.

Now I could go mad tidying every speck up, but as a figure to look at and use on the table she's really good. I may yet come back and do more on her, but I'm pretty happy with how she's turned out.

As I said my Cygnar scheme is actually blue and bone inspired by Simon Millership who plays on the UK circuit.

Kraye who I was very happy with so I went and got him a Cyclone. The Rangers he'll be getting he's getting because Magnus wants them as well.

And Nemo who with Kraye and Caine seem now to be my main caster focuses for Cygnar.

I'll post up some mercs later, but I'll finish on the Trenchers who have yet to be fielded for Cygnar as they now spend their time working for a true Patriot.

    Looking nice

I'm thinking of doing something the same with some of mine, but a light grey instead of the bone.

Ive been working on an eMagnus list, and so any Cyg units i can use in both need to be painted accordingly!

Love the colors you used on Constance, and the split Blue/Bone on the other casters is awesome. I'm also the same way with Cygnar/Mercenaries. I always get a bit of a laugh when I buy something Cygnar with no intention of ever fielding it as such. The only reason I have a Cygnar caster who isn't Constance is that the local store sells the battleboxes discounted to where they're only a few bucks more than the plastic jack kits, and I wanted the Charger for Bad Seeds, and the Ironclad chassis for Gallant.

Barn - thanks. My Magnus scheme is the darker blue, but these guys are still too scared to go properly join him.

Fateweaver - thanks. Apart from my Cyclone everything bought recently was for my mercs. Though at some point I need to figure what to do with 4 Lancers plus Thorn.

    Mdiscala - thanks.

Some shots of my Mercs stuff.

Ashlynn conversion. I figured that given she got a lovely Tier list I'd do up a new model to use with it.

Managed to finish my Precursor Knights to go with Constance who I painted the other week.

I've got a unit attachment to paint for Sword Knights, then I need to get parts to paint Gallant for Constance. That'll get her army ready to play with. Might pick up another UA for Precursors or some more Precursors at some point.

I decided to try and get some jacks painted, but then quickly realised why I play Khador a lot more.

The Cygnar jacks are slowly coming together. The blue is pretty much finished, but the gold and definitely bone need work on.

Probably get their bases done tonight as I need to get the Kayazy ones done as well and that'll be one thing finished on all the models so I can get on with finishing the rest.

Whilst I'm painting Trolls and Kayazy most merc activity has been on Ragman.

There's little bits I need to tidy up now I've taken the photo, but he's pretty much done.

I'm looking at repainting one of my Vanguards, but that'll go over in the Khador plog as it'll be for Zerkova as much as Ashlynn. Next up for this lot will be Rangers I think for Kraye and E Magnus' new tier.

Well my plans for next to paint got derailed as I sold some stuff and picked up the bits for Gallant.

Doing him in white to mirror Constance. Need to figure what to do for his shoulders as I think white might be too much.

Well been managing to clear things off my desk as I slowly work on my Daemonhost.

Started the Sword Knight Unit attachment on the basis it should be a quick paint as the scheme is mostly metal. It'll also get me to think about reworking the sword knights who are a little basic. These will go with Constance as well as the Precursors.

Finished the Highshields Unit attachment, though typically the shield decided to fall off as I took the photo. Just noticed as well I have two more buckles to paint.

    And then I finished Gallant.

With the Sword Knight UA done I'll just have one model to paint from scratch for Constance's army, though I'm likely to repaint or touch up some more. Generally pleased with him. Still not sure on the shoulder pads.

    Well finished off these guys.

And then alongside the other one done from the unit.

Going to spruce up the rest of the unit and just need to get Archduke Runewood to finish off Constance's army.

    Again behind in here.

The archduke has been done for a bit. Not had chance to try him out yet though.

Another model to get done recently as he was pretty quick was the new Gunmage officer really for use with Ashlynn.

Fairly simple, but he's done. Though just noticed his hat has chipped so need to redo that.

For Gallant I went with battlefield brown base, shining gold top coat, devlan mud wash, shining gold gold highlight, burnished gold extreme highlight.

Been working on a new Nomad who will predominantly be used by Magnus and Shae so I went with a blue scheme.

Still need to finish the buckler as I need an icon to put there. Going to look at the books for inspiration as I don't want to do that standard merc icon.

Maybe design some sort of "evil swan" or anti-cygnar icon to use for Magnus's troops?

Gone with a bird image (which could be a swan) plus the chequer pattern to link it in with other merc jacks I've done.

Not progressed a lot apart from finally finishing the Nomad.

I've also separated the bits out to allow me to convert Rocinante, a Mule and a Rover from a plastic merc warjack kit, and a metal nomad and mule kits. Those parts may not divvy up exactly as you might expect.

    Thanks Elteyr.

I recently picked up a metal Nomad and Mule plus Rocinante's bits and a plastic Merc warjack kit to start converting. I wanted a mostly metal Rocinante and then to use the spare bits to make up other jacks. So last night I started cutting up and assembling.

    First up

Mainly Nomad body with Mule left arm which will form my Rover. Arm gap to be filled shortly.

Plastic kit which is being made into a mule using the metal parts. I've pinned the arms so far and need to go over the gaps before adding on the hose and club.

And the body I wanted that started all of this. It's been assembled so it marries up with the plastic jack body. I'm now working on pinning the cannon arm and then adding in the chains. I'll be using the plastic sword arm to make it look different to my nomads.

Still a fair bit to do on all of them, but I'm hoping to start painting them with this extended weekend I have.

Finished the conversions on the Merc jacks and they are now being primed.

Probably the easiest of the conversions as it was made from the leftovers. Rover is also the one I haven't quite decided what colour scheme to do.

I'm really happy with how the Mule came out. The last issue to sort was where the hose was going to go, but quite happy with the solution.

Then Rocinante. Big issue was how to line up the chains and get them to fit where the arm was. In the end I cut off the chains, stuck the two ends of each to their relevant points and used other chains in their place. The back chain is actually what was the front chain. Really happy with how he's come out.

These guys are all getting primed now so hoping to start work on them later.

Rover. Hate how the metals turned out on him but for now he can sit on the shelf. The reason for the different merc schemes is that the purple and black will primarily be used by Ashlynn as part of Llael resistance whilst the blue works for Magnus and the pirates.

Rocinante. Really pleased with the conversion and he's performed great so far on the table. I'm going to look at painting Damiano to go with him soon.
