I added a question mark in the title because I'm looking for a way to make trenches which can play the role of the 5'' x 3'' trench templates. The conventional method would be to make a rectangle with or without some extra space on each side for walls and sloping terrain fr easier model placement.
However, someone suggested adding angeled ends, giving the base a trapezoid outline. While keeping a 5 '' centre line, this makes for angeled trench runs, as opposed to the straight ones you get by using rectangles (as 3d terrain can't be placed on top of each other like paper templates).
So what do you say, terrainfolks? Would angular ends, say 22,5 degees on each side, be acceptable? Im asking here, because this is more of a question of visual representation than of rules. In the drawing below, the stipled lines mark the 3'' x 5'' base, while the slopes outside the wall are considered to be outside the area covered by the trench rules.

Ya, I'm from El Paso.

Consider this idea stolen and modified to accommodate deeper trenches.
