    Default Kallus 50 pts

    Here is my next take on Kallus at 50 pts. obviously this can change as we get new releases from domination. i am hoping for a souless unit.

    kallus
    ravagore
    scythean
    sngelius
    shredder
    grotesques max
    legionaires max
    spawning vessel max
    deathstalker x 2
    sheperd
    forsaken

    this leaves 3 pts. i can upgrade the scythean to typhon if need be. idea is to use cheap infantry as buffer for my beasts. ignite on grotesques so if and when they get there they will be able to hit decently well. dark guidance on the army is amazing. downside is that if you upkeep and cast DG youll only ever sit on 1 fury.

    this is only a test run and like i said, this can change based on whats coming out. who knows, after playing the above he might want warmongers and raptors. only testing will tell.

    I like my units with Kallus to either be "Staggered", so some with AD some without, and moving at different speeds, or alternately, at least one of the units being elite. This will help avoid getting stuck in my own list due to too many models to move...

    If you really want elite, you can just take my pThagrosh list:
    Thagrosh, Prophet of Everblight (*5pts)
    * Shredder (2pts)
    * Carnivean (11pts)
    * Ravagore (10pts)
    * Scythean (9pts)
    Blighted Nyss Striders (Leader and 5 Grunts) (6pts)
    * Blighted Nyss Striders Officer & Musician (3pts)
    Gatormen Posse (Leader and 4 Grunts) (9pts)
    1 Spell Martyr (1pts)
    The Forsaken (2pts)
    The Forsaken (2pts)

    Now, Kallus probably needs the Carnivean less than pThagrosh, so could make the Carnivean into another Scythean (or an Angelius in your case), and also switch the Striders into Raptors, if you truly want an elite, smaller model count army.

    Hex Hunters with Bayal are also a good option, giving you both staggered and a form of elite, and more bodies..

    If you want some more infantry, I'd probably keep either the legionnaires or the grotesques, and with the other unit plus the Deathstalkers grab myself a hardier unit, preferably with a ranged aspect, so either Raptors, or Striders. Or if I'm feeling risky, stagger, and get the Hex Hunters.

    your list doesnt need 2 forsakens. ravagores max out fast and a sheperd there can help him a lot. the heavies all make good use out of dark guidance.

    i think he will have a few possible builds that would work well and are all based on difference units you take and beast combinations.

    Well, that's more the pThagrosh list, who has 7 Fury to help his beasts... and until things clash, it's just Carnivean 2 and Ravagore however much, or something. I guess shepherds would also work well.

    And yah, the Angelius helps with getting stuck, but with Dark Guidance, and Ignite, so hard to justify him.

    And yeah, I think a lot will depend on what unit configuration you want to take, there are a lot of options.
    I just shy away from nearly all melee; even with Rhyas people seem to understand now it's not the best choice, and Kallus does more for the ranged options than Rhyas does.

    Have you considered spell martyrs? Channeled eruption might be pretty viable tactic against infantry and they are souless too

    I am finding I like to take at least one or two ranged models to balance out my lists. Striders, Ravagore, and Raptors (especially Raptors) are finding their way into more and more of my lists.
    Legion is about grabbing the other guy's throat and pulling real hard, after more or less telegraphing that 'this is my hand, this is your throat. They will meet. Pulling will be involved.' - raptor1313

    deathstalkers are the ranged option in my list backed by ravagore and typhon. i guess it could be raptors but when you make hte change you lose bodies for hte feat.

    I have the worst luck with Deathstalkers. Whenever I put them in any list, they shoot and miss (usually when needing a 6 or so), then they get killed by an AOE deviation or some other lucky crap. How do you guys use them to make them effective and keep them alive?

    To make the best use of my deathstalkers I leave my 'hard' shot for my second shot. I'll pick off a grunt with my first shot then shoot a tough model or someone in combat/cover that I'd actually like to hit, rather than the other way round. That way if I miss the hard shot it's not a total waste. That said, missing the 'easy' shot hurts even more.

    As far as keeping them alive, if basically ANY AOE is targeting them and hoping to kill them with a drift I feel OK that they're at least acting as a distraction. That said, taking your easy shots first lets you swift hunter into the best position for your second to avoid retaliation.
