So now that I see her stats and abilities, she just seems to fit so well with a highborne force that is using either dwarf caster. The range assasination potential is just sick.
Be more scared of her with ATGM and Mules. "Ok, I shadow fire that jack, shadow fire the guy behind him. Now my Mule can see your caster."
Lightning doesn't strike twice. It strikes 10 times, and beats the snot out of you with a giant two handed sword.
Not that this isn't a viable tactic, but you could already do basically the same thing with Fiona and Nonokrian Brand, who despite being an evil thing, will happily work for Highborn. Also the Mariner has the exact same gun as the Avalancher, with the exception that it needs a loader.
Nice with Gunners sure, but Blasters don't really need it. Frankly though, it's great with any kind of accurate, dangerous attack. Like say... CRAs.
So she can cause targets to cease to be intervening models? That's certainly good, but ATGM Mules already have 16" arcing fire. It's great for direct fire weapons though.
Fiona may already be able to do it, but this opens the tactic to a lot of people not named Fiona.

I own three Mules, and if you asked me if I would buy a fourth, I could not honestly say that I would not ever do so. Do I need to see a doctor?
Such as 10-man CRAs from Highshields, or, God forbid, double tapping 10-man CRAs from long-gunners. Ugh.
Edit: Anybody notice, however, that she's -1 SPD from regular ATGMs? Seems like she's a bit beefier and slower than the average.

Not needing a loader is pretty huge, and the Avalanceher has much more armor.
These comparisons are no small comparisons. Same effect... much wider or better application on the new stuff.
Well I can't disagree that she does give other casters options.
Seems to me like the real winners will be Cygnar, who have always had access to Long Gunners, and have casters who have snipe or can let them take another shot.
But she fills a really nice hole in merc armies, being able to shoot incorporeals when we have no arc nodes and poor access to magic weapons. Though I guess the addition of the ATGMs already helped a little. Still 2 points is a lot less to dedicate to incorporeal insurance than 6 (or did it drop to 5?). I'm fairly terrified of Machine Wraiths, and rightly so given how effective marshalling is, and how vulnerable marshalled 'jacks are to them.

Man, could you imagine 3 avalanchers on Durgen's feat turn and Taryn opening a LOS path? Casters will need to stand way the heck back.
Also, another thing I'm finding with gunmages and Taryn and other ranged heroes like Versh is that I'm really liking the ranked attacks on forgeguard and highshields. Being able to have them up front, providing a nice screen for the squishy solos is quite nice. Now with black Penny, Taryn can even pick off those who run into combat with them without penalty. I'm diggin her rules! (Not so much the model though...kinda wish PP sculpted more slender faces on their ladies, or at least gave them more dynamic hair)

looks like alot of fun in an ashlynn list. but as to gunbunnies, the avalancher or even 2 of them shooting through something at that range marshalled under thor will be sweet

I think that her, shaw and a Nomad could act as a really solid flank 10pt flank in a Cygnar force.
Or you could swap the Nomad out for a freebooter, same points and then shaw and Taryn won't get knocked down from tough when in B2B,

I personally think Rutger with a Bucaneer could be the best combo with Taryn.
Taryn clears a LOS to the caster, Bucaneer uses a boosted roll for his net to KD the caster, and then everything else in your army is firing off shots at a caster on his butt.

I can't help thinking a Sniped net would make this easier... Shaw seems to be the weak link in that set up, though giving doodge to Taryn is good.
