Default How do we expand from starter?

I got my son the 2 player starter set for his birthday and we love the game(Cthul & Guardians were in the box). We are unclear on how we expand the game from the starter set...in terms of which boosters, etc., are compatible. Any guidance for a noob would be appreciated.

You'll want to order a DMZ box for each faction you like. They're the absolute best value out there, and will do a lot to help you round out your forces.

That is a very good deal to flesh things out pretty well from the second and third series. You many still want to find some singles. There's always evil Bay and some singles sites like Team Covenant and Troll and Toad for the odds and ends.

If you decide to expand your armies to Series 4 and 5, you can look over the forums here and other places and you'll see which Monsters suit your playstyle or which units will fill in nicely with the armies you are fleshing out then either go looking for a handful of singles or pick up some boosters if you know you want a variety of monsters and units from various factions.

I know from personal experience that the Fire Kami Earth Kami and the Tornadus character unit add a lot to the Protector Agenda (Which GUARD are a part of). Yes, Tornadus is a little pricey on the secondary market. But if you really want to go with Protectors and want to play in organized events you'll enjoy having one. The Towers of Corruption you'll get from DMZ will give the Cthul player a pretty big edge in a LoC vs GUARD match. Some of the Elemental Champions units help balance the scales a bit.

    Hey,

Since my question is pretty much the same, I've decided not to clutter the forums with a new thread.

I got myself a 2-player starter (Armordax & Zor-Maxim inside), and bought a few boosters, which included a few useful additions: Gorghandratron, green fury van elite, a raptix, and a flying gizmo for the ninjas (sun bomber?), amongst a couple of Cthul units and a lot of GUARD; the building, three or four tanks and a fighter. Overall, I'm rather happy with what I got, since it's one great and one ok agenda, and I've got a spare monster for the latter. Moerover, I got a decent number of units that fit my forces, and a pretty good start for any protector list I might want to put together in the future, right?

Right. So where do I go now? I really like the monkeys, and have a feeling that my radical wing is rather slow and low on blasts. Which monster/units should I get for them? Similarly, I'm pretty sure I'll be hunting for mega Zor-Maxim (the normal version seems to be the worst monster of the three so far), and a repair truck for Ghorghandratron, but what else can I get for the collaborators? I think I'll pass on any new monsters for now, just try to optimize my list for these two.

Lastly, how do I use the shadow gate? This unit seems to have a ton of great potential, but I just can't figure out what to do with it, other than to help with first turn securing of buildings. Might be because the stealth isn't that useful due to my radicals' low blasts, but the teleport seems to be too difficult to pull off, it needing another sg and all. It can't transport monsters, right?

Thanks for the pointers. Trading minis probably wouldn't have worked between us anyway, I live some 7000 miles from the U.S. :P.

I'll be playing a guy with Cthul & PE on Thursday, will report on how it goes. So far the number of special abilities just confuses me, I guess it's gonna be that way until I get some more experience playing. Any pointers vs. starter Cthul/Eaters?
