Default Another - "what should I get next?" thread.

    Howdy All,

Many years ago I picked up some Warmachine models for painting. Since then I've moved several times across the continent and as a result kind of have a hodge podge of various models. I picked up the original Cryx starter but...

All I have remaining from that is...

    Classic Deneghra
    Slayer Helljack
1x Deathripper Bonejack (1.5 really, but I'm missing a foot.)

I also have a Seether and the Classic Iron Lich Asphyxious

In addition I also have a horde of Reaper skeletal pirates that would make excellent proxies for the Revenants (and even a canon crew) once they are rebased.

I have no experience with warmachine as a game beyond reading the rule book. I know a local store hosts warmahordes on Monday nights so I do plan on checking them out next week.

For the moment I'm just looking to add to what I have so I can have a playable low point army to determine if I am going to like the game. So what would I need to be able to field "something" that makes some sort of sense?

    Thanks for your help.

    Banes + UA + Tartarus.

Lord Tartarus I comprehend, but UA? And I'm assuming Bane Thralls?

    Thanks.

    Unit attachment.

With those two casters you will probably want to pick up a couple more arc nodes (or repair the one missing a foot so you have two at least).

Usually though, "skill" is used to covertly mean "match the game exactly to my level of competence." Anyone who is at all worse than me should fail utterly (and humorously!) and anyone better is clearly too caught up in the game and their opinions shouldn't count.

Just be advised that proxies won't be allowed in tournaments, and local players may or may not have issue with it. Most metas are pretty fine with appropriate proxy models, though.

    Thanks for the replies guys.

After reading a bit more about the revenants I think I will pass on doing those up as painting time is pretty valuable and I will avoid any annoyances.

Bane Thralls are a bit "eek" price-wise but they are cool looking minis.

I also discovered I have a Stalker as well. Thankfully in the blister so I don't need to go looking for pieces

I think I'll focus on getting back to the starter box's quota of arcnodes as a first step which should be a very minimal $$ cost at least. I think I'll add Tarturus to the list just because he is a pretty enough model to paint even if I don't end up playing much.

    Thanks & Cheers!

Bane thralls do indeed cost a fair chunk of change. At the same time, lurk around a bit, and you'll see the most common advice to any problem Cryx players encounter is "apply more banes." They're pretty much our staple infantry. The officer and standard UA makes them even more atrocious to deal with, and Bane Lord Tartarus (BLT, Tartarus or Tartar-sauce) not only improves their threat range and hitting chance, but can replenish the unit as they're destroyed.

If you're going to be running Asphyxious, you may want to pick up Cankerworm. At 5 points, he's a beast of a bonejack, and his affinity with the Gaspy lets you hit and run with him very effectively.

The cycle we go through with every release:
1st stage - reveal - Wow! Look at the new toys.
2nd stage - spoilers - Booo! They're not as awesome as I imagined!
3rd stage - actual play - Okay, this thing's (usually) not awful.

Can't go wrong with full Mechanithralls + Necrosurgeon, either.

Big meat-shield, and they kill jacks. I tend to use them as an alternative to Banes for armour-killing capability, rather than as an additional unit.

Against infantry, Satyxis, Biles or Bloodgorgers are all good choices.
