Fixing Chipped Paint

I just started Legion and I already have some chipped paint on my Carnie. I've tried using foundation paint as a base over the bare metal then repainting and sealing but the models keeps chipping in the same place. Any suggestions out there on how to help fix this?

What are you using to seal the model? I find a couple coats of gloss varnish + a coat or two of Dullcote keeps things from getting chipped easily.

Repairing chipped paint is a little difficult, but it's one of the strongest arguments for keeping some brush-on primer handy there is. If you don't prime it and just try to repair it with plain old paint, it typically won't adhere to the bare metal all that well, and will likely rub off again.

Best thing you can do to avoid chipping/wear in the first place is make sure you have a good primer undercoat, and give it a couple of coats of gloss varnish, then a coat of flat. Some parts are just going to be particularly wear-sensitive, though, and this is especially true if you pack and unpack your models or handle them a lot in general.

Brush on varnish is also a good tool. You can use it to fill an area a little that may have had damage and just paint over it. Then reseal of course. Good luck.

I seal it with Army Painter matte varnish. I haven't tried the gloss + matte, might try that out. Where's a good place to pick up paint on primer as the hobby store I game at doesn't carry it. Thanks for the help guys.

Reaper makes a good brush-on primer, in both black and white, in their Master Series line. If your game store doesn't carry that line, you can get it at Miniature Market or The War Store online.

Thing about matte versus gloss varnish is that matte typically does not cure as hard and doesn't offer as much protection as gloss does. You'll probably find a lot of gamers will recommend the gloss coat followed by a matte coat because of the extra protection it offers. Plus, when you can start to see a shine, you know the matte is wearing off, and can hit it with another coat right then.
