Hey I grew up around your area, Well if you make it over this way like abaddon said we play every other sunday. Come visit us.
There are a lot of people that play in C.R. at Tempest Games on Friday nights, It might be a little slow right now since they are in between leagues, but when leagues start there are anywhere from 15-25 players of Warmachine and Hordes
I'm actually a CR native who goes to Tempest on a regular basis, and if you head up on a friday there's usually a fairly decent group of players there. I know I'm there with my friends just about every Friday I can looking for a pickup game, and lord knows I need 'em to get used to MK II.
OMG i found people I know on the forums! I'm Aaron and I live in Iowa City during the school year, but my brother and I go to Tempest.
Weird. I come back to CR every other weekend to get a game in with my brother; I will be stopping by Tempest on Saturday to get a game in.
Wow, I hope to play all of you someday.
We also play every thursday night at Battlezone Games in Hiawatha(basicly Cedar Rapids). I dont know of any stores in the Quad Cites area that have any regular play. Otherwise I know its a pretty good drive to get to any of the mentioned places regularly.
Man am I surprised to find so many Iowans on these forums, now I'm wondering who each of you are.
Im in Ames and haven't found anyone who plays WM but might trip out to Des moines some time. Not too many people at the Ames mayhem play WM.

I live 5 minutes from Battlezone, but I am not in Cedar Rapids during the week.
I don't think a single person besides me has even heard of Warmachine in Iowa City, but whenever my friends get drunk (it is a college town), we can roll some dice with my multitude of factions.
Critical Hit Games (in Iowa City/Coralville) has a dedicated Warmachine and Hordes group. We usually get together on Tuesday Nights right now. We just had our Resurgence Tournament this last weekend, but we are planning another one for February.
Hey, I should stop in some time then.
Well then... I guess we have a crap load of players in Iowa. I think we should have a Con, lol.

I live in Maquoketa. Sunday I'm going to go to Comic World in dubuque and try to find some games. The person working last time I was in said that there alot of people that have armies, but they were playing warhammer right now. Sundays are thier miniature game days, and they ussually show up around 2-3 or so.
You should a have a Con, and have it toward the Nebraska side of Iowa. There are a bunch of us in Omaha/Council Bluffs.
Next month is Gamicon here in Iowa City at the IMU Ballroom. I don't think there are any events scheduled though. Maybe we should try to organize something.
its prolly 2 hours from me but if a lot of ppl are going then i might go

My recommendations would be:
1. Hang out on the Cryx Tactics forum and start learning about the other models.
2. Play some proxy games with the ones that sound interesting to you
3. Buy the ones that you end up liking.
Generally though, along with whatever else you may want I would highly suggest picking up one or more alternate warcasters as some of your early purchases as these will give you the maximum amount of new play options for a modest price.
If you're ready to expand to bigger games, then you'll probably mostly be looking at getting some troops and solos to complement your jacks. Think about what sort of playstyle you like and which warcasters are your favorite, and then seek the models that will work with that kind of strategy. I'd suggest picking out a melee unit to start with and go from there and several of them have an attachment or related solo that goes along with them like Mechanithralls + Necrosurgeon or Banes + Tartarus. This could be the start of a themed force if you like, or merely stuff that happens to work well together.
Currently playing: Farrow & Skorne
Sheeplauncher, we just had 22 people join a slow grow league last night. Check out the Mayhem comics forums. We have a few people who come down from Ames.

Lol another Iowan warmachine gamer here. I just was playing around on the forums tonight and noticed this post. Power to the Iowa gamers!!! (throws confetti and dances). Btw hi Dewey!
I'll have to save this forum so that when up coming events come up we can let everyone know.
I am in Des Moines. I really should add that to my profile infoI have started playing warmachine at a game shop here in town. I love Skarre!
Man, its awesome to see so many people in Iowa. Hopefully we can get some big bada$$ tourneys going and have a calendar or something we can all use. (this is Steve from BZ, in Cedar Rapids)
Well damn i wish i could find people that played here at iowa state university -.-. I havent ventured much into the gaming club though maybe there are a few. But i might travel down to des moines when people play and as for a big tourny.... that would be awesome.

Hey all, Originally from Ottumwa I was living there when Spuds started up.... Some of you may know good friends Eric Storm and Tom Johnson. I am In Cedar Rapids have been playing War machine for awhile now at Tempest Games. I play mostly Cygnar but have a decent sized Merc Army as well, I have found that the area has some really good and friendly gamers that have no problem playing at a moments notice as long as they have there minis with them... I do believe there should be an Iowa Con but that woudl be a b* setting up...
Remember- Meat Shields need not volunteer
Hmm, we should get a calendar up Steve. Also are you going to the Resurgence?
