Assault happens whenever a beast charges. I see nothing wrong with this O_o
Assaults may occur anytime you charge.
Unless frenzy says otherwise.
And here I am without rulebooks.

Does the flamethrower have ROF 1? I dunno if Assault ignores that, but it says to me that he can only use it once per turn (short of Targ's Ancillary Attack). Although that does mean that if he Frenzies before he activates during Arkadius's Feat turn in order to boost his potential charge range, he could get to use the Flamethrower before he activates, which could be advantageous depending on the position he ends up in.
Azahul just ruined my day with his logic.

ROF is during a model's activation only. A model can fire any number of times per turn, as long as ROF is not exceeded during its activation.
Activation assault, feat assault, and ancillary attack can all be used in a turn.

Rydiafan just made my day with his grasp on the game's rules.
Seriously, I need to keep rulebooks near me before I decide to post.

The way Ancillary Attack is phrased made me think ROF was for the whole turn (I've never had a need to check if it applies in any other way). Still, I'm not going to complain if I can get away with Assaulting twice with Arkadius![]()
ROF means haw many times a model can shoot during his activation, and don't count out of activation shoots.
If frenzy makes a warbeast activates (and I understand it does) then he can shoot once in each of his activations (if he's allowed to shoot). If Frenzy don't count as activate a model it will be an out of activation shoot, so ignores ROF.
I've learned english reading Warmachine and Hordes books (I mean sorry... ¬¬')
What else did the pigs get? just one new beast (and Targ and the slaughterhousers)?
Real talk.. I'm seriously considering suicide running right off the bat for that huge threat on the spray. Then having my Max FA of bonegrinders spam lightning strike. Road hog is a Huge buff to Bone grinders as odd as that sounds.
I wish I felt the same way many of you did. Road Hog is doing almost nothing for me. Too expensive for what he brings IMO. No new Lights for us?
Feeling let down compared to Gator releases.
well mabe i can change your mind a little bit.
Just cross referenced all rules that apply during the Road Hogs Frenzy (or via Arkadius Feat)
1 you MAY assault. Nothing prevents this in any rule.
2 and I Quote from Frenzy "All attack and damage rolls are boosted".
It does not say the frenzy attacks. It says very clearly all. Which means under the good Dr.'s feat It charges with a Boosted ps14 on top of a rng 10 pow 12 boosted spray. Thats freaking horrifying.
Time for me to be Dream Killer. There is no assault when frenzying (which would include Arcadius's feat).

Dr A is one caster.
I'm certainly not being a DoooM monger at all. I'm not sure what I was looking for but the Road Hod isn't it. I'm also not feeling S&D after playing them about a dozen times. Maybe it's something with the Farrow playstyle not clicking for me.
Love the models still.

Highborn Ashlynn list with Rosh running a Road Hog. He gets quicken and Roulette.
Shame we can't take Targ as well.![]()
Working on being able to field every merc teir 4 list.
love that S&D get the price reduction on the Road Hog. I also love full boar. What this guy does, and the reason why he's worth his points, is provide the mobility that the pigs have been needing in their war beasts.
But seriously, I'll take an 9" walk under carver. I find nothing wrong with that.
edit: a 9" walk, 10" spray, and then walk 9" back under carver's control. Ya, I'm liking this even more.

Eh, I expected as much. I'm still looking forward to the Road Hog though. Planning on getting two (for Sturm and Drang's Tier list), and then running an army of three War Hogs and two Road Hogs with Targ under Arkadius at 35 pointsShould be fun. And I love the fact that we have this heavily armoured, super-fast infantry killer. I've been struggling against Cygnar in every game I've played against them, and a Speed 9 Road Hog with a Spray 10 flamethrower seems like just the kind of monstrosity I need to clear out all those pesky ranged infantry.
I feel let down compared to Gator and other armyes releases 2, since 1 animus can change the game stuck ,after months from release , on 1 light totaly suck, same for the solo, or the lack of multy wound units make me feel frustrated.
Still i need to understand if the new Hog is 8 or 9 point , anyway i dunno how much it can worth in front of War Hog, as long as farrow totaly lack of any way to dispell the enemyes bonus, pow 12 rat 5 won't change almost nothing, hit units like , fast exemple, Winter Guard whit def 15-17, would be a nightmare, no hit = no CeF, may be whit Arkadius via crippling grasp they could show us something good.

I'm looking at the Roadster from the perspective of what I holes I can fill with him as opposed to what I was hoping to get. He is not my idea of a premier model in a fully fleshed out faction, I'll admit. But adding him to my typical pig list means I'm more likely to win more games through the expanded options he gives me. I like that, so I'll get him.
See that's the spirit! I was never expecting faction lv releases from minions. The Road Hog fills in a much needed gap in our arsenal.
Lightning strike means more mileage out of our casters, Carver and Drang can make better use of their impressive melee stats then sprint back to relative safety rather than hanging around in the danger zone, using Arkadius's needle gun is no longer a death sentence. (just likely death)
Fully boosted spray under Sturm's watcher. Making Sturm all but immune to assassination from infantry.
As already mentioned 9" walks followed by 10" sprays with carver are sweet. It'll be fairly easy to get a good angle with that much movement and with a template that big even unboosted rat 5's will hit something eventually. Not to mention key model sniping (kazay under boss I'm looking at you)
"There he goes, one of god's own prototypes. Too strange to live, too rare to die." -Fear and loathing in Las Vegas.
Along a similar vein, I think the reason I am so in love with this model was that I wasn't expecting anything much from it. We knew we were getting a ranged heavy fairly early on, and I just went with the assumption that it'd be fairly boring (Farrow not having anything bar Targ to provide any meanginful bonus to ranged warbeasts). Sure, I was hoping for a decent melee light with a good animus, but now this has turned out to be an excellent ranged and melee heavy that adds blistering speed to a faction thus far known to be typically slow-footed. I'd still love a melee light with another good animus, but as it is I'm extremely pleased with this beastie.
I sure as heck didn't expect the spray to by 10", or auto-fire. Nor did I expect SPD 7.
I am very happy.

You don't have to take my word for it:
Each pact gets 1warlock ,1solo that combine with units or beasts perfectly (doctor with posse, Targ with renged) ,crocs get 1 light and 1 heavy ,farrows get one awesome unit and a heavy spray pig. I think it's fair to both pacts. But I am also one of the "Give Me More Beasts!
" group, the biggest charming point of hordes is the fight of huge monsters, only 2 (will be 3 after domination) beasts can be chosen is a serious problem to me. Personally don't like a list that have three or more the same beast in it. What can I do is wish Dr. Arkadius work harder and harder.

Lightning strike only triggers from melee strikes, so nbo move spray retreat.
Yeah, but he has assault, so he can charge, spray, punch, gore, retreat.
Or as I like to call it, be freaking awesome.
I really like this thing on Rorsh.... in a carver list... way better than the Gun boar for him, this can be the model that Rorsh can use as the sacrificial one before brine gets into position, except that with Sprint, he doesn't even really need to be sacrificed.
Of course the R.Hog does come in at 3 points more than the gunboar... I still think I like it.

I am very pleased. I think that the new Farrow choices in Domination are excellent. Only Targ is what I wanted, but when I got S&D, Slaughterhousers and the Road Hog I quickly realised they where what I needed. I still have dreams about a beast with shield guard or arc node, but I do love me some Road Hog. He actually makes all our three casters better. Silly threatrange on all. He stacks nicely with Carver's mobility and batten, also works well with Arkadius' feat (charge 10" and assault shoot 10", boost with 4 fury to hit or damage. Then feat and charge another 10" and drop all of those fury. walk up with Arkadius, and the Road Hog is still within control to cast Primal Shocks from for instance. A nice assassination tool.) With Sturm and Drang I think he works nicely with Watcher (Oh, so you move within 6" of my caster. Either I chose to intercept your attack. Or I could advance 5" and shoot 10" with PS 12 fire vs your caster for instance) but can also get some mileage from Telekinesis and Vision (When he is in melee with something. cast Vision on him, then assault charge something else, ignoring the free strike).
Edited beacuse of my stupidity.

I think it is going to be tough to get good use out of this beast with Rorsh due to his really small control area. This beast has a ton of speed and is going to end up either out-ranging Rorsh's control area which means you lose access to forcing for anything, or putting Rorsh in too vulnerable a position to support/control it. Its worth a shot, but with only a 6" control range I am a bit skeptical about this combo.
Can Targ increase Rorsh's control area?
Working on being able to field every merc teir 4 list.
No. Targ is attached to a warlock. Rorsch is a solo.
Another thought. Another nice synergy between Sturm & Drang and the Road Hog. If you feat and manage to get your opponents beasts full of fury. To then light the warlock on fire is very good since the continious fire effect resolves before leaching fury. So first you would do a boostable PS 12 attack and then in his turn he will most likely take another PS 12 attack. Neither of which he would be able to transfer...
I think the Road Hog is a great warbeast! It offers some utility which Farrows were lacking before. Sure, it isn´t as straight forward as the Gator releases, but now I´m seriously considering starting some Farrow army led by Dr. Arkadius.
HTG
The Road Hog looks pretty cool to me and I'll definitely need a pair of them. So much infantry-killing power when you have lots of speed followed up by two 10" auto-Fire sprays (using Targ to assist). Plus it's awesome that he keeps crit-knockdown on the Gore attack. He's really the perfect beast for Watcher and provides a good animus that we can really use too. S&D's stock goes way up with this guy but everyone can get good benefits out of him.
Currently playing: Farrow & Skorne
Although he doesn't seem to get the War Hog discount in Arkadius's theme force, I think he's still going to be pretty good with him due to the animus. Being able to walk Arkadius up, cast Crippling Grasp, and then walk back to safety is going to help us get a lot more out of that spell without risking his life.
