    Default Siege vs PoM

I will be playing a game or two against my friend over Thanksgiving and I need to finalize a list. He has PoM and runs mainly Sevvy, eSevvy, Kreoss, Feora, eFeora and exemplars.

I was thinking of starting with:

    Siege
    Defender
    Ironclad
    Squire
    Longgunners Full +UA
    Sword Knights Full +US
    Lancer
    Archduke Runewood
    eEiryss
    Reinholdt

That brings it to 46 points. I'm not sure if I should pick up a pair of solos with the last 4 as a flanking/distracting force, or if I should buy 2 utility solos. What are thoughts?

I'm thinking that the ironclad can take point, and the sword knights with the lancer can crack a few nuts as well. eEiryss, reinholdt, and squire are pretty basic Siege staples. Longgunners give me a decent fire base, and UA helps keep the knights clear. Pretty decent under Siege's feat. I know precision strike doesn't mesh well with Breach, but overall enough melee hits should help out.
    Maybe.

Take a Journeyman warcaster. Drop the Lancer for a firefly and put it on him, and take Rhupert. Swordknights are now Arm 19 w/tough. With Runewood, you can stand them up the following turn before you want them to charge in.

    Just my 2 cents.

Thats some pretty solid list advise right there.

On another note, this is a siege list that I used to quite good effect against all sorts of different menoth lists.

    Siege
    -Defender
    -Defender
    -Squire
    ATGM
    -UA
    --Cyclone
    Rangers
    Precursors (full)
    -UA
    Gorman
    Reinholdt

    Just food for thought.

You think the firefly would be better on Jr? I was weighing between a lancer and firefly, and went with the lancer because of the shield and survivability. I really wanted to try to use the reach and pronto to help out the sword knights with flank.

I'd agree that the Firefly (our most niche Warjack) does fit into the SK's realm of use, with its Reach weapon and slightly higher POW & lower cost. One thing that's nice with it, is to use Pronto to advance out of activation, then it can aim and Jack-Marshal boost to hit pesky Widowmakers, or high DEF troops, usually 2 of them while he's at it, due to Electroleap. Alternatively, it can advance 6" fire its 10" ranged weapon with boosting to hit, and then the SKs can use Pronto to move it out of threat range.

... of course, the temptation for Stormsmiths then becomes stronger than ever...

    Best,

It's true that putting the Firefly on the Swordknights has it's definite advantages. That will come down to personal play style.

By the way, Dark Fledglings army is pretty top notch when it comes to fighting Menoth. Exposivo on Defenders can be nasty.

I've used lists similar to Dark Fledglings. I just got my sword knights painted up and have runewood though, so I wanted to try them out. So you don't miss the extra arm from the lancer shield?

I guess I will add in a firefly, rhupert, and jr, and drop the lancer.

    LankyOgre,

I'd highly recommend trying out both! If the Lancer ends up working for you, then great, and keep using it. If you need an extra point, and you want a slightly higher POW & Ranged weapon, then use the Firefly. One's more offensive, and one's more defensive. So wait... you're going to be running the following?

Sword Knights (max?) & UA (8)
    -Firefly (5)
    Runewood (3)
    The Piper (2)
    Journeyman Warcaster (3)

That's 11 "Tough" MAT 8/9 "Flank-Weapon Masters," 2 Handcannons (1 fully boosted), that can stand up instantly as well as getting Pathfinder and +2 to hit/fearless on the charge? And a Firefly with Pronto Drive on the side? Sounds like fun.

Good luck, and let us know how it goes!

    Best,

p.s. The Firefly is really good a frying the Choir btw.

I think the Firefly is a decent jack to run with SKs, but not really better than a lancer with them. It's really what do you need. You save a point on the firefly but lose 2 armor, and the cortex shield (which works equally well marshalled). Or, you save a point and get a slightly better weapon and a gun.

/shrug : if you are looking just for a support jack for SKs they are equal imo, it just depends on what you plan to do with your SKs in a game to really determine which serves best. The firefly is more offense, the lancer for defense.

I'm saddened by the Firefly on one significant issue: his spear SHOULD have electro leap too. If it did, he would be a great jack at 5 points and I would actually run him in more lists than a niche enemo one. So sad too because I really want to like this little guy.
