Default silly question #1 and #2

Where can I find the rules on how to cast a spell using a model that does not have focus? The model in question is a greylord ternion, using the ice cage spell, but in general, I was ussuming it used RAT to hit the target. Is this correct, and at the very least could someone site a page in the prime mk2 book that explains this?

I've purchased the prime mk2, and forces of khador books, but outside of these two, what are the other books such as wrath, minions, etc etc adding to the game? I don't have access to them at the local shop but I honestly didn't know they existed until this afternoon durring my lunch break. I am imagining they are for lore/storyline and different game types or alternate rules on current game types (along the lines of the bonding options for warjacks) but if anyone could throw me a bone that would be excellent and appreciated.

Moreso as an addendem than an official silly question, is it frowned upon to quote rulings verbatum from source material? I only ask because I have been bumping into curious wording in the rules that aren't very intuitive to new readers such as myself. I would like to avoid making waves in further threads or post, so if i should paraphrase instead of dictate, I figured now is the time to ask.

Thank you in advance for responses, and please excuse my grammatic bumblings as this is posted using my cellphone so its quite time consuming and limited in function.

Models with a Magic Ability will also have a number following it, such as Magic Ability [7]. Treat the number in the brackets as their "Focus" in this manner (or RAT, or anything else used to add to the dice roll to see if you hit.) Can't site a page as I don't have Prime with me, but I'm sure someone will be by to do so.

Also, there's nothing wrong with verbatim when trying to confirm how a rule works. The words are all you have, so keeping things as specific as possible is best.

It's kind of encouraged in the rules forum, too. It helps people give answers if they don't have the cards or book in hand. Check the rules forum sticky at the top of the first page for a couple other guidelines, too.

Ah, thank you. The most confusing rule I've been stuck on is for the warcaster vladimir tzepesci's transference spell.

    Cost: 2. Rng: self.
"While in this model's conrol area, friendly faction non-warcaster warrior models can spend 1 focus point on this model to boost a melee attack or melee damage roll during their activations."

As I interpret the rule, " spend 1 focus point on this model" means that the non warcaster needs to have focus, and is spending it on vladimir to boost vladimir's attack or damage. Since the range is self, and "this model" was used to determine vladimir's control area, I can only assume further uses of "this model" are continuing reference to vladimir. I am also assuming that I am wrong in my understanding of tis rule, so I was hoping someone could clear that up, if it's not too much trouble.

Also in regards to the books the others are very similar to the forces of Khador book, they include background, stories, and rules for all the models in that force. If your playing Khador the other army force books don't add anything, but the Mercenaries book could be useful as there are a number of mercenary solos and units that work for Khador and you can read the rules and background for those units.

What that means is that Vladimir casts the spell for 2 focus, and it can only be cast on himself (Rng: Self). Affected models can spend focus off of Vladimir to boost their own rolls during their activation.

Also, new questions should get new threads unless they're closely related (this one is pretty close).

Sorry about that. After posting my third question (which I did t avoid flooding the front page) I realized I should have just started a new thread. Thank you for that clerification. I can think of about three ways to better word that spell description to aleviate misunderstandings, but alas, I am not an editor.

Is there a way to identify mk2 extended content, such as Wrath, from the mk1 extended content? I'm interested in learning more about the mercenary contingents you mentioned, as we'll as additional khador troops, like the mechanic that can repair man-o-war units.

Not directly but for Mk2 the number of books is very limites as the Mk2 Prime and Primal rulebooks, the 'Faction; "Forces of" books which there were none of in Mk1 and then Wrath and now Domination released just this past week.

This would be better asked in either the New Comers' or General Discussion forums. Generally, though, for Mk II we have Prime Mk II, the Forces of Warmachine books, and now Wrath. Note that all of the models that existed in the first version (Mk I) have been brought into the second version (Mk II); you won't "lose" any existing entries at all, and in fact the Forces books added a few new ones, and Wrath is all new to Mk II.
