In Imperial Khador, Winter Guards YOU!
... I'll start by saying that I didn't come up with the title.
Anyway, back in July I was minding my own business as WarGamesCon, playing my ill-fated Farrow army when a friend I'd just made asked (jokingly) if I'd paint his Khador army. I laughed it off at the time and we went our separate ways. I found myself itching to start a new army, being that my Farrow are fully painted, and realized that perhaps the answer was to get in touch with my buddy and use his Khador as a project to really force myself into a higher tier of painting. He seemed pretty excited and sent me a huge Huggies box (explaining why I've got a gigantic huggies box in my apartment at age 20 is weird.) full of minis. Here's what I got:

In Huggies Box / In Progress / Finished
14 Winterguard, UA, 3 WA's, Konvik Joe
10 Winterguard Rifle Corps
4 Widowmakers, Marksman
Great Bears
2 Field Guns
2 Mortars
10 Assault Kommandos, 1 WA
2 ManhuntersMan o War Konvik
Yuri the Axe
EEiryss
Plastic Jack kit
Kodiak
Gun Carriage
Strakhov
EVlad
PIrusk
PButcher
Harkevich
It's gonna be a long haul, but I'm definitely improving really quickly through this project. I'll try and keep this pretty up-to-date, but I update my blog in my signature a little more regularly with WIP's and stuff.

Reason: made yellows less eye-burning.

Hah! That's amazing. Kovnik Joe looks particularly impressive. Is his coat a dark blue, or black? It looks brighter on the top picture, but I'm not sure if that's flash or something.

Your banner is genius. And I like the paint job, too!

And time for the Kodiak!
**Same disclaimer from above about the pictures being crappy. Sorry, guys.**

I'll fess up immediately and say that the Kodiak is probably one of my least favorite of Khador's Warjacks. The sculpt as-is, is really static and sort of looks like he's taking a dump. Up in my ivory tower, I sawed off one leg at the hip and angled it up so that he was stepping up on a rock, which seemed to help alleviate the problem some, allowing me to make him more "mid-stride" rather than "mid-dump." The writing on his shoulders, predictably, reads "Motherland"
I'm really happy with the way he came out, but he's certainly not without flaws. The weathering on the arm-shields could probably have been done a little bit neater (which is sort of a weird thing to write), and the matte varnish seemed to come out sort of glossy (maybe too thick a coat?). It's not bad in person, but with a big light shining right on it, it's really noticeable.
Let me know what you guys think, thanks for looking!

Love the WGI! Very bright, must look great on a table.

This is a phenomenal scheme I think. I really like it and the writing on the banner.

Destroyer of Worlds
Very vibrant colors indeed. I love the conrast between the dark and the red colors. Are they also as bright in real life?

This is so sweet! I usually hate the WGI models, but i actually like these ones!

Thanks for the replies everybody! It's really encouraging to see people are enjoying these (most of all, my client!)
@Jerkstore: Joe's coat is grey, but I gave him a Zenithal Priming***, which made his coat come out a little lighter than his comrades. The pictures are all wonky though.
As for the questions about how they look in real life, here's a picture of the first batch of WGI from a little while back (at about 90% completion, need basing, etc.):

Reposting old content as new content, like a boss.
That's a closer representation of how they actually look, except now there's more of them and there's a flag and stuff. Hoping to get a couple pictures like this tomorrow at a local tourney, fingers crossed!
Thanks for reading, let me know what you think!
