    Default pVlad Gunline 50pts

I played a successful game at 35 points with Vlad and Winter Guard Rifle Corps and Infantry.
I thought I would expand it a bit more.

    Vlad
    *Behemoth
    *Kodiak
Winter Guard Infantry, 3 Rockets, UA
    Winter Guard Rifles
    Steelhead Riflemen
    *Valechev
    Aiyana & Holt
    Kovnik Joe

The idea is that I would use the various ranges available by the three units to control threat ranges, and use Vlad's feat to charge anything too heavy for the guns to take out.

I would cut a rocketeer and upgrade the kodiak to a destroyer. I haven't tried the steelhead riflemen with valachev. With valachev and S&P I think they could do a decent job. Just watch out for heavy infantry (MOW/Champions/Cetrati) because they could cause you some trouble.

Heavy infantry shouldn't be too big of an issue for that list.

Ayana can harm it for +2 damage rolls, S&P is effectively +2, and heavy infantry is a larger base so the whole WGI/RC can shoot at them. At POW 16... Even Shock Troopers in shield wall are going to be taking 2 wounds per shot from guys at MAT 5 (effectively 7 with S&P) hitting on 4's. Aim for models that chain the shield wall and you'll be doing 6 wounds on average to the remaining guys.

Ranged Stealth would be a bigger concern IMO, Bloodhunters with Prey on the WGIDS is not going to be good for you. Eiryss will draw AoEs away from the enemy line. But it has a decent number of tools to it. I'd say give it a go.

Any game you walk away from knowing why it ended, and how to repeat or avoid that conclusion in the future, is a victory.

I'm surprised to not see a Gun Carriage in any gunline army. The ability to lay down two huge difficult terrain pie plates would be golden I'd think to such an army

That gun carriage is mighty tempting... I haven't had a reason to field it. Though you make a good case for it now.

With Vlad1 it's about as good as you can get too; Signs and Portents turn those pie plates into killers.

This is why I usually refrain from posting lists online! I get so many ideas and I want to do them all!
So, you have all given interesting and excellent feedback. I now have some decisions to make.
Here is the core of my list:

    Vlad +5
    *Behemoth 13
    A&H 4
    WGFC 8
    WGI + UA 8
    Joe 2

which comes out to 30 points
I now have 20 points to play around with. Current options:
    Steelheads + Valechev 11
    max Bombardiers 11
    gun carriage 9
other jacks worth 9 or 11 points (Beast, Dev, Demolisher, Destroyer, etc)

my purpose for taking the Steelheads initially was having a medium range unit for CRA. The Bombardiers may not have that ability, but the ability to lay down AOEs could be very useful. Same with the Gun Carriage...
I think I will play a bit with the bombardiers and gun carriage. I love those figs, and haven't had a reason to take them yet. And this way, I can reserve my extra focus solely for the Behemoth.

I have to say, I played some pVlad gun carriage at 35 points today and it was very effective, would have been more so if some deviations had gone better. I don't see how at 50 points you don't fit it in. In a 50 point game I might use both the two I have.

Managed to get a caster kill with it, remember that you can trample and attack with the guns, or if it's in combat sac movement, attack with the mount and still get the aiming bonus.

The only problem with running 2 ranged units is you have no tarpit. WGI can't really do the job because of the lack of Iron Flesh. Anything that can engage you quickly and get around your ranged ability is going to give you a lot of trouble. At that point, you are really on your jacks only to deal with melee threats. Fast, hard-hitting infantry will be bad news.

Generally, I think mortars (and Bombardiers) are a trap with S&P. The range of the Bombardiers is too short so it's difficult to get the aiming bonus so S&P really only makes them around RAT 7. Mortars are effective RAT 3 - even S&P isn't going to help them hit. I can see the viability of the Gun Carriage but I've never tried it since I don't like the model. Still, I think I'd still rather have a unit of Doom Reavers or something.
