I was incredibly excited when the new Horde's rules came out a day before I was playing two Searforge lists in a local tourney. My Gorten list had Gudrun in it for back-field assassinations and to capture points and my Durgen list had Brun and Lug to add some extra power.
I was incredibly skeptical of Gudrun as he had yet to perform for me during any of my playtest games. I had only fielded Brun and Lug once because of their original playtest cost of 11, and the game was over before they could do much.
I am pleased to say all the models performed beautifully in both caster kill and scenario play all day Saturday. During the third round game, Gudrun alone killed a Manhunter, Yuri the Axe, 2/3rds of the Greylord Ternion, 3 Widowmakers, and took a shot at EVlad. His proximity to the flag at the end of time also won me the round since neither of us had any control points. He got slapped around during my game with a Retribution player, but it was both my first time playing against Ret and against the eventual tourney winner.
In a later game, Brun and Lug were responsible for eating several attacks, all the while staying on their feet, and then devouring the MOW Drakun and beating a Juggernaut within an inch of its pseudo-life.
I guess what I'm trying to say to my fellow Searforge players and any doomsayers is that our minion models in their current and more-or-less final incarnation have what it takes to keep up with our other models. Not only that, but both easily paid for their costs and then some.
