    Default Black Spot Thought(s)

Black spot grants you an additional ranged or melee attack after you kill a model that is marked. You do not need to directly hit the model to get the free attack so lobbing cannoneer AOEs into stealth models still gets you an extra attack if you kill one.

Here is the main thought I had: If you kill a model with a melee attack Black spot gives you a free melee OR ranged attack. Now picture this, a your target unit has black spot on it. You give rush the the Cannoneer for speed and you have it charge. You kill the model with black spot with a melee attack and now you get a free attack and you choose the range option and fire and a new target.

This is a great threat range the people will not see coming. You can get the cannon shot deeper in their lines than they thought was possible and kill off some key support pieces that they thought were out of range.

Base 4+ charge 3+ rush 2+ cannon 12= 21 inch max cannon reach

This could also be done with the other ranged models we have and even include snipe and/or eyeless sight.

    Additional thought:

Models that have multiple attacks and gunfighter like abilities would benefit even more using this tactic.

Our battle engine would do very well wading into melee with as many models as possible who have black spot on them. It has 3 melee attacks, after each model killed (most likely it will hit and kill a black-spotted single wound infantry) choose to fire an extra range attack. That would be 3 more shots to add onto its base of possible 4 more shots (these base attacks could create more shots at well).

3 melee attacks and up to 11 ranged shots (If you have 3 black spotted models in melee and 4 in range to shoot).

Pouring all of those extra pow 13 shots into troops or a light beast would be awesome.

Pretty sure its been ruled it generates an extra attack of the same type I.e. Melee generates melee, ranged generates ranged. Can't be bothered finding the infernal ruling though, but someone will...

    Link Fu

Basically, whatever you make as your initials nets you more of the same with Black Spot. The thread is specifically for Black Spot + Drag shenanigans, but the answer is the same (i.e. dependent on your initial attacks).

Can't wait till something gets Virtuoso in a faction with Black Spot, just to toss a spanner in the works

Thanks for the link. I was going off the strict wording of the card that you may make, 'a range or melee attack' and then the cogs in my head started whirling. Nowhere in the spell description does it say a melee attack get you a melee attack. So I expect a speed errata coming to fix this wording to be in line with the added rule from the infernals.

I should have known better that something that would make the siege engine pretty cool and help other ranged skorne models could not be so.

Wow, glad I read this thread. I was going on the assumption the spell worked as written too. Certainly changes a few things...
