Default A Tale of Warmahordes 2012: Sign-up Thread

    Evening all,

I was a late entry to the 2010 Tale of Warmahordes that PG_amphoterik set up and ran, until it petered out in around August. However, in the time it was running, I found that it helped motive me and focus me on getting through the rather large pile of unpainted PP stuff I've go around my flat.

Having been a little disappointed by the lack of such an event in 2011, I figured I'd step up to the plate and set one up for 2012. I'm sure I'm not the only person having motivation issues when it comes to painting, even with the Wrath and Domination releases cascading down upon us.

This thread will set out the ground rules, store a FAQ, and maintain a list of those signing up. I'll set up the first WIP thread on January 1st, and the first completions thread on January 30th.

For those interested in joining - the ground rules

    What can I paint?

The aim of this Tale is to paint 50pts of miniatures for Hordes and/or Warmachine. Unlike the 2010 Tale, this doesn't have to be for one faction or army, just so long as you paint 50pts over the course of the year. each month, your goal will be to paint a massive 5 points of models for Hordes or Warmachine.

Hang on - that doesn't quite add up

Indeed. I'm fully aware that we all have lives outside of gaming, which may interfere in our abilities to complete a painting project. As a result, each entrant will have two "Get out of painting free" cards, which will be used in any month where you don't complete five points. However, if you have less than two of these cards and you paint ten points or more in a given month, then you'll earn one back.

    Time for the FAQ

I'm starting with the FAQ from the 2010 thread, with a couple of tweaks for 2012. IF you've got other questions, please raise them in this thread, and I'll answer them when I get chance.

    Q : Can I paint more than 5 points in a month?
A : Yes - we are not here to tell you how and when to paint your stuff, it is great to get ahead. As noted above, posting 10 points or more when you've used a "Get out of painting free" card will earn you one back.

Q - Are we going to be allowed to carry over excess points from the month before into the next month? I.E, if I paint a 9 point model in January, can I carry the 4 points over into February and just paint a 3 point model then?
A - No - the book-keeping starts to get a bit too messy if I need to keep track of that. 'Tis a lot easier for me to say "Player X has posted 6 points in the Month Y Completed thread, therefore they're fine. Player A has only posted 2 points in said thread, so they're using one of their "Get out of painting free" cards.

    Q : Can I paint less than 5 points in a month?
A : Yes, but note that not completing five points in a month will trigger the use of one of your "Get out of painting free" cards. You're better off either posting five completed points or nothing in a month - and putting the stuff you've completed towards the following month, to earn the card back.

Q : What happens when I paint an expensive Unit/Jack?
A : This happens a lot. If your Jack/Beast was over 10 points you would simply paint it over two months, the sort of time such an engine of destruction deserves! So you start posting it one month and post no completed figures the first month (unless you want to post WIP), triggering the use of one of your "Get out of painting free" cards, then the second month you post the finished model and all the points get added on - earning back the card you used if the model(s) are worth ten points or more.

    Q : What about Warcasters/Warlocks?
A : Consensus so far has been that they should be 'free'. So casters can be built and painted at any point during the year - allowing extra time and detail being spent - as befits such an important focal point of the army. Equally, their 'Jack or Beast points won't count against you, so you won't have to paint more stuff to make up for them.

As Casters/Locks are free, players can feel 'free' to paint multiple casters throughout the year - so long as you have at least one to lead your army of course.

Q - Is it considered cheating to prepare the models for painting before the Tale begins?
A - Not at all. In fact, if you've got models that are already WIP, then finishing them off as part of this Tale is perfectly acceptable.

Q - How will this be organised? Will there be different threads for different factions? Where do I post my progress month-by-month?
A - Each month I'll be posting a WIP thread on the 1st, and a Completed Models thread on the last Monday of the month. The Completed Models thread will accept entries for a predetermined period of time (probably two weeks - I'll also have a provision in place in case people won't be able to post pictures during that time). There will be a stickied Directory thread with links to each individual thread, and a public Google Docs spreadsheet showing how people are getting on.

I'm also looking into the possibility of setting up a factionised "A Tale of Warmahordes 2012 Gallery" on one of the image-hosting websites, so there is a permanent (and filterable) record of what has been achieved.

Q - How are min. units and max. units counted? If I finish three Shocktroopers in January, and the other two in February, does this count as 6 points in January and 3 in February, 9 in February only, or something else?
A - My preference on this is that you count the minimum unit and the expansion to maximum unit as two separate bits. To use your MoW example above, the first outcome would be correct (6 points in Jan, 3 in Feb).

Q - How is a multijack kit counted? The Khador multijack kit makes two 7-point models and two 9-point models. Is a finished one 7 points, 9 points, 8 points (for the average), or something else? Do the extra arms have any point value?
A - I hadn't thought about magnetised plastic 'jacks when I was putting this together, but it is a good question. I'm going to say that if you're building a fully swappable kit, it counts for the most expensive non-character build. So the Khador 'jack would be 9 points, for example.

Q - Do the models have to be based to count? I'm not asking a purist question here, just envisaging a scenario in which I might not want to commit to a particular base right away.
A - I'd prefer to see based models. However, if you're clear that you're not basing as you want to base everything together - or you've not decided on a basing scheme yet - then that will be OK. It would be good to see the based versions before the end of the year, though.

    Q : Can I join after January 2012?
A : Certainly - send me a PM, and I'll add you to the list. Anyone joining after the end of June will start with one "Get out of painting free" card, rather than two, but can earn back to two as normal. Equally, I'd only be expecting them to aim for 25 points painted in half a year.

OK, I want to sign up - what do you need to know?

Use this thread to introduce yourself to the other entrants, and get ready for month 1. I'd recommend you cover off the following few points, though:

    Intro :
    Faction(s)* :
    Theme* : (if applicable)
What I plan to paint :

    * - I'm not going to hold you to these, but they can help focus people a bit.

Please let me reserve posts two and three in this thread before replying - post two will hold the sign-up list, while post three will be my introduction.

    Good luck.

    Name: Antigonus
Intro: I've been playing Warmachine since just after Escalation came out during Mk1, initially with Cygnar before departing the Swan and working for coin instead. When Hordes came out I picked up the Trollbloods battlepack, but never really got very far with it during Mk1. Shortly after Legends came out I took a break from the game, concentrating on CCGs and World of Warcraft instead. I picked up the game again about a month before the 2010 European Team Challenge, taking my Mercs back into action. Around that time I started putting together a Thornfall Alliance force as well. I've also got some Khadorans to paint at some point, and I'm looking at a pBaldur Circle force as well.

Unfortunately, my lead mountain is still huge, so I'm using this challenge as a goad to get me to paint more, so long as Doomie doesn't abuse it too much. My first priority will be getting my 50pt eNemo Tier 4 force painted for July's 2012 ETC - at this point there are only three Stormsmiths painted, so this could get interesting...

Factions: Cygnar, Mercs, Minions, Trolls, Possibly Khador and Circle. Also have a selection of IKRPG figures to paint, in case they turn up as Mercs at some point.

Intro : Just getting back into the game after a long absence, and want to get something finished so I can play some Hordes.

Faction(s)* : Just Skorne to start, but I have a lot of Circle stuff that might make an appearance

Theme* : Finished? Does that count?

What I plan to paint : I have acquired 3 Skorne battle boxes in my time(I don't even remember how that happened), so there will be cyclopes and Titans. I have most(or maybe all) of the non-epic Warlocks(just picked up the new Domination guy a few nights ago), some foot troops, some cav, and quite a lot of war beasts.

Since I found a paint scheme I like and can knock out relatively quickly(for me), I will probably go quite quickly, but hey, anything to keep me motivated and painting is a good thing.

Sign me up...but starting in about May (explained below)

    Name: NagashTheBlack
Intro: I started playing Warmachine back during the original Prime. My buddy had gotten free battle boxes and rulebooks at a convention as part of a push to get the game going. I walked into the FLGS the next day and got the Cryx box tossed my way as I am the Undead guy in our group. We played un until Apotheosis came out and started to feel let down (we lost regular players for various reasons and competition was almost non-existent back then). So my stuff got eBayed and I regret it to this day. Now with MKII I see so much changed that I just have to start over.......as soon as I get back home. I'm currently deployed (thus my time frame for when I start to compete) and plan on hitting the ground running. I made some purchases over R&R and already have some simple starter stuff planned. It has been years since I painted anything so I gotta work the kinks out, and this is a great way to get it done. Looking forward to being involved ASAP.
Factions: Warmachine: Cryx mainly. Cygnar as an "Off" force. Hordes: Still up between Legion and Skorne for my "Main/Off" factions.
"Fear is for the enemy...Fear and Bullets."

Running head-long at a Cryx army without a plan is kinda like trying to head butt a wood chipper. Worst thing you'll do to us is get bits of you stuck in our gears.

Nagash - No problems with the late start, especially given the reason why. Hope everything remains OK until you get back.

Intro : In the past i've always had periods when i dashed out 20 or more points in a week, just to set my brushes back on standby for months soon after. Addionally pretty much any time i got close to a 50% painted army i used to change my mind about the scheme, strip everything and start it all over again. This time i definetly like the scheme, the tecnique used suits me and if you look at my sig i have only got 57 points (and 2 casters) left waiting on the shelf. 2012 will by my full paint year.
    Faction(s)* : Khador
    Theme* : finally full paint
What I plan to paint : my last unpainted jack, my last 7 unpainted units, my last 3 unpainted solo and my last 2 unpainted casters

    Khador: 145/200 (+ 8/10 casters) painted
    Mercs: 14/16 painted

Intro: I am a slow painter, and have only about 3 casters, and 60-70 points of painted Khador. I am going to participate in the European Team Challenge this summer, and want to field a fully painted army, that is somewhat different from what i have now.
    Faction : Khador

I plan to paint Kayazy, Iron Fangs, Behemoth, Spriggan, Zerkova, Old Witch & Scrapjack, Kossites, Koldun lord, Greylord Escort, Eiryss, Kell, Harlan, Alexia & the RIsen, Rorsch & Brine, Orin Midwinter, Mechaniks, Ogrun Bokur, Man-O-War Drakhun, Gorman, and a lot more..... I need all the motivation that i can get

Intro : Hello! I have been painting for about 5 months and playing the game for about 3 months. I started off with Cygnar but then moved on to Trolls when I saw their awesome sculpts. My fiance now plays my old Cygnar army (and beats me every time). I am an extreeeemely slow painter, but I think 50 pts in a year is doable!

    Factions : Trolls, Gators, Cygnar

What I plan to paint : Some things I'm looking forward to painting most include the DT Blitzer, Earthborn Dire Troll, Mulg, a unit of Long Riders, a unit of Gatormen, Hammersmith, Centurion. And, though warlocks don't count, I'm committing to paint Borka and eDoomy for an escalation league at my LGS. Big year!

Intro: Hey all! Been playing warmachine off and on since escalation, more on in the last 3 years. Menoth has been my primary faction since the start, but i love mercs in my armies and have quite a large selection of them. I got into Hordes and have some Legion, my son has some Trolls... I may be coming into a decent size Ret. force so that will be my second warmachine army. I have been feeling the painting bug and this should keep me motivated to get some of my mass amount done.

Factions: Menoth, Mercs, Legion, Trolls, Ret (soon)

Theme: Menoth is close to standard with brighter whites and alot of copper as opposed to gold trim, some khaki on shoulders... Mercs are whatever strikes my fancy, but with some sash or whatever in my menoth colors to tie them in... Legion is in brown skintones with green scales on the beasts, and pale skin with green tint and earthtones with orange contrast on the clothing (going for a marsh theme with them)... Trolls are whatever my son wants them to be so, pretty random... Ret. is going to be in dark greens and coppers, with red highlights, and an underground theme (making my angry elves drow)...

Painting Planned: most likely will try to get my Knights Exemplar unit finished for menoth and see what christmas brings, as well as finish up my Kell i got based, but not painted... I want to get more of my jacks for mercs done, so will probably try to get my light jacks done and painted for them with some small conversions.

Intro - I've been playing since right before the Mk 2 conversion. I've been wargaming for about 17 years and have played a variety of genres and systems. I'm still very much a developing painter and I have a pile of lead.

Faction - Blindwater Congregation Minions. I've got around 75 points of stuff (or I will when Domination is available). I'll try to get this done.

Painting Planned - I'll probably start with the Bull Snappers & Gatormen Posse as they are good intro models for getting my technique down. I'll progress to the Warlocks from there (since they're tougher to paint). I'll save easy to paint stuff like Boneswarms and Feralgeists for times when I'm running behind.
The forums seem to have one of two responses to new models. (A) "This model is worthless, I'll never use it." or (B) "That model is over powered, it's going to break the game." A few models get both responses, which ends up being really hilarious.
But what's wrong with saying "This model is circumstantially good and it's up to me as a good player to exploit its strengths and minimize its weaknesses"?

Intro: Hello guys! I've been painting for about 2 years but started working on my khador when my club started playing WarmaHordes, and that was about half a year ago, and been
loving the models so far, i have not painted that many units of guys yet though. Got about 40 points painted if i got everything correct, and some figs just waiting to get painted, i have started to dabble in hordes to and looking at trollbloods for my second army.

    Factions:Khador,(Trollbloods)

I plan to: Beef up my Khador force with load of units like WG, Kayazy you name it and starting out with trollboods (though i have no plan except the battlebox)

Intro: I've been playing since Escalation and started off with Cygnar and Cryx. Since then I'm primarily a Merc player. I love my sell swords and several people I know come to me when looking to pick up a merc or two. Recently I've been in a slump with the game and am looking for a way to keep myself interested. That's where a box of Trollblood stuff given to me by my little brother comes in. It's just the change of pace I've
    been looking for.

Faction: Mercs (and assorted allies) and Trollbloods (and assorted minions)

Theme: My Mercs have a grey-ish scheme, similar to Cygnars Fort Falk colors. The Trolls are going to be a Pinkbloods army.
    Cephalyx pledge: cause why not.

Intro: Well I have been playing since the game first came out. Took a hiatus after escalation when I sold off all my models then came Superiority and the Drakhun and Uhlans. Needless to say I came back to Khador in a big way as well as an Amon Jack wall. Now I don't play much since the commuity is small here in Japan, but I still build and customize figs alot.

Factions: Khador to paint for this season

Theme: That is easy...EXTREME! Currently planning a white scheme ala the pic of Sorscha and her Destroyer in the Khador book. with the exception being one of the gun carriages being painted up with 2 extra horses and a donkey for a budwiser beer carriage.

Painting planned: Extreme Marauder-7, Extreme Behemoth-12, Extreme Beast-11, Extreme backbreaker Kodiak-8, Extreme Black Ivan-9 or 10, 1-2 gun carriages 9-18pts. Metal 2011 Sorscha and most likely harkevich and Strakhov. Building plans= Extreme Torch and Extreme Avatar

Intro: Been playing the game since those first two little starter boxes came out and I grabbed a Khador box set and played starter box games for a few years. Then I took a hiatus from gaming for a while (college and work got in the way). Now I'm back and on a roll harder than ever.
Faction(s)*: Legion, Magnus Mercs some Cryx
Theme*: (if applicable) Purple/Red/Brown Legion, Exile Blue Mercs planned, Pirate Cryx (working with the gf on that)
What I plan to paint: Finish up Legion so that I have at least one of every Legion Unit/Caster/Beast painted. Work on Magnus and Merc jacks. Possibly some starter boxes.
    Shred the Gnar(ls)!

Intro: Been playing since Primal MK1. Have played quite a few factions over the years but have sold or traded most of them. Let's see if I can even remember them all Circle, Searforge, Khador, Trolls, Skorne, Ret, Protectorate, and most recently Cygnar for a journeyman league. I have a very fun meta in my area with a lot of great players. Over all the years I have never fielded a fully painted army and that is a big goal of mine.

Factions: Skorne, Ret, Cygnar, Protectorate, and Trolls

Theme: Desert crusade Menoth. Pink Trolls. Red Cygnar. White Skorne. Those are the only schemes I really have.

What I plan to paint: All of my Skorne. With a few breaks to venture off into other factions so I don't go crazy.

I've updated the sign-up list - assuming that all possibles end up with something showing for them, then we've got at least one person down for each faction (and non-faction) already, which is a pretty good spread.

Most popular factions so far? Khador, Mercs, Minions, Trolls (Five people looking at each of them)
Least popular so far? Cryx, Menoth, Retribution, Skorne (One person looking at each of them)

EDIT: Stuntiesrule posted while I was updating the list and making this post. I've added him to the sign-up list, but not updated these counts.

Intro: Hey everybody, I started playing after Gen Con, 2008. At the time I picked up Cryx, because they looked the coolest. After Mark 2, I decided I would jump over and start playing Mercs. Then I took a hiatus from the game until a few months ago, and I decided to get back in with a Journeyman League playing Cygnar. With a lot of new local players, I am really hoping I will get to play more.

Factions: Well, looking to paint up my Cygnar and Mercs. Maybe I will even get back into Cryx later on. Who knows.

Theme: Cygnar, pretty standard blue and white, but the gunmages, Caine, b13 with a much darker black, dark browns and blue look. Mercs: all over the place. Lots of weathered greens and browns.

Models? I know for sure that I have the Thunderhead looming over my head right off the bat. Also, a full unit of storm blades and UA. I am probably working on those this month though, so who knows where I will be by January.

I'm in. Skorne. First thing I'm painting is... A Naaresh list! Nihilators, Agonizer, Cyclopes.
Soul Slave + Razorworm = Lazorworm. End of joke.

Intro : I participated in the 2010 version, and that helped me immensely in getting my Searforge army painted. Now I've started a Thornfall Alliance army,
and I need it painted for ETC2012, so I hope this can help me motivate myself into getting it done! There aren't many months left, so I have to get started fast!
    Faction : Thornfall Alliance
Theme : Various browns and rusty metal, with red/yellow as the *popping* elements. Heavily modified War Hogs!
What I plan to paint : Of course I want to get all my stuff painted, but for starters, this is what I expect to paint:
    Lord Carver
    Sturm & Drang
    War Hog
    War Hog
    Gun Boar
    Slaughterhousers
    Slaughterhousers
    Brigands [10]
    Rorsh & Brine
    Bone Grinders [6]
    Targ
    Alten Ashley
    Saxon Orrik

And then I'm waiting impatiently for a release date for the Road Hog ... if that doesn't get released before early-to-mid may, I'm in trouble!
If there is time, I will still have a Razorback Crew and two more War Hogs to paint, but the above is what I need for the tournament, so they get bumped up in the queue.

    Hey-ho, let's go!

intro: when tales of warmahordes started in 2010, i was too fast and too stupid to post my progress. as i am preparing for my final exams and just writing my final thesis, it'd be great to get back on the train and do it more properly.

    faction: khador / cygnar

theme: khador with an alternate scheme (green, red, black), cygnar with my standard blue and blue

    what i plan to paint:

khador: sorscha, harkevich, juggernaut, destroyer, black ivan, behemoth, widowmakers, mow shock troopers, greylord ternion, mow kovnik, mow drakhun, wardog, widowmaker marksman, mechaniks (+ua), great bears, yuri, 2x manhunter (83 points + 2 casters)
cygnar: storm strider, storm tower, 3x storm smiths, avenger, 2x minuteman (33 points)

that's roughly 120 points, we'll see how that turns out, i have painted around 130 this year...
Chaos isn't a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail and never get to try again. The fall breaks them.
And some are given a chance to climb, they cling to the realm or the gods or love. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is.

Intro : Hey guys. I'm new to warmachine, but have had the old khador battlebox for over a year. I have completely sworn off GW and other companies to focus 100% on PP - due to money, time, etc etc. as Warmachine can be quite small to quite large (which is ideal as I am a self-published author and parent). I can't promise to see 5 points each and every month, but I am challenging myself to this!

Faction(s)* :Protectorate of Menoth and Khador (Fire and Ice)

Theme* : (if applicable) Menoth - standard white armour, purple cloth - all NMM. Khador - winterised reds and whites.

What I plan to paint : I plan on painting the contents of the new two player battlebox (PoM portion) and a covenant of menoth for sure. As I learn the game and units better, I will be adding on the fly. Chances are there will certainly be a unit of Bastions thrown in there, Knights errant and Choir. Ideally I would like to see my Khador battlebox get their proper repaint, but with the amount of time needed, they will be on the back burner. I also plan on starting work on scenery for a scenario table that will pit both forces against each other at a Menite archeological dig site in/around the Khador borders and it will be nice and wintery.
    Protectorate of Menoth; 25pts inbound
    Khador; Battlebox ready

Intro: I dabbled in Mark I using troll bloods. We had a couple super duper A-holes in our community doing the majority of the teaching and that element, coupled with my wargaming maturity still being in a games workshop developmentally disabled stage, led me to quickly quit the game and sell my few unpainted models off. Then 8th edition fantasy came out and really signed the death warrant for my already fading love for GW's super cruddy unbalanced games. I was confronted with my friend's beautifully painted Skorne force around this time, and got roped in to a demo game. That was essentially all she wrote. I picked up a box of used Skorne models and now this is really the only game I play.

    Faction: Skorne

Theme: I'm not a big fan of the studio Skorne scheme. I painted a lot of test models and eventually settled on a metallic green armor that I'm really happy with.

    What I plan to paint:
That's hard to say. I'd like to do primarily models that see a lot of play for any of my casters. That means I'll likely start with my pain givers since my agonizer and gladiator are already done. My second goal would be to have a fully painted 50 pt list for pMorghoul so I can play in the hardcore tournament at Lock and Load this summer. I'm not positive exactly what i want to run with him, but I'll likely paint either a unit of Nihilators or some Gators and a taskmaster. That's as far forward as I can think right now.

Intro : Just coming out of my first year in table top gaming. In that time I've played 4 factions, but currently play Trolls and Bacon Brigade. I'm always busy with school, but I need something to encourage me to paint. Hopefully, I can keep up with it...but my dropout may happen :P
    Faction(s) :Trollblood and Minions
Theme* : Each troll is painted a certain way to match their respective kriel. Units have a mix of a few different kriels, as shown by changes in skin tones and different color sashes. Piggies are dirty as hell, rusty, and mounted on bases with scraps strewn about.
What I plan to paint : Here's the plan at this point:

    January: Minimum Longriders
February: Full Champs(I may finish them on my own before hand, and the leader is done so its technically 8 points)

The rest depends on what I get/decide to paint!

    I'm IN!!!!

Intro: Just started playing a few months back (think Sept) dont play often since im over in South Korea and very few ppl play here, got my gf into it, though she is more of a painter than a player, going back to the great white north in march and going to get into playing hard when i do!

Factions: Circle, Gators and either Ret or Searforge (cant decide, love the Ret models but i struggle to paint htem, and i really like Searforge)

Theme: My gators are getting a zombie-ish effect done to them, my circle living stuff is a deep blue/electric blue combo and no idea what will happen with my ret/stunties

Plan: Recently got my a real painting spree (painted a blackhide wrastler, old man turtle, Snapjaw and Wrong Eye and finishing up my Calaban) so hopefully it will be my two gatorman units and solo then some either ret/stunties

Intro: Recently converted from WFB, have already painted a few Cryx models and have more on the way. Am also planning on starting Trollbloods as well, because they look awesome but have not yet brought any models for them. I also plan on being able to use them as a Ogre army in that other system.

    Factions: Cryx, Trollbloods

Theme: Cryx: Metallic Green and brass. Trollbloods: not sure yet.

What I plan to Paint: Cryx: Venethrax, Slaughterborn and Bloodgorgers, McThralls, Seether, WW Siren. For Trolls, I haven't planned much past the Warpack yet.

Intro: I'm new to Warmachine. With less than 20 games under my belt, I've nevertheless decided this game rocks and I want to own an army that can compete for Best General and Best Painted.

    Factions: Khador

Theme: Traditional, only replace Khador Red with deep Forest Green

Plan: I want each of my minis to look as good as my skill allows. If this means taking forever to paint a full army, so be it. I plan to start with the Battlebox and expand from there.

Intro: I started playing in august 2011. I was growing tired of Warhammer, and as luck would have it I walked into the club one day and saw some guys play a game with some big robots that looked cool, so I had them demo the game for me and was hooked. I picked up Retribution of Scyrah since I had browsed PPs webpage about a year ago and found the cyber-elves to my liking. I am now also about to start Skorne, since I wanted a Hordes army to try out the fury system, and I figured the melee beatdown style of Skorne was about as different to Retribution as it'd get in Hordes.

Faction(s): Retribution of Scyrah and Skorne.

What I plan to paint: I've got a bunch of unpainted Retribution models that needs to get painted, and I'm really looking forward to the Vyre 'jacks, which I'll get at least 3 of. I'm also having big hopes for the next Warmachine expansion and will most likely pick up most of the Retribution stuff from there when it is released.
Right now I've ordered some Skorne stuff that I plan on painting first though, to get a playable force painted for them.

Intro: Fairly new to the game still, 6-7 months of collecting and a little less playing. Old GW-player who wanted to try something new, never played in a tournament or anything like that. I've got Menoth (~100p) and Skorne (~35p) at the moment.
Faction(s): Ashlynn d'Elyse Viva la Résistance, pure tier 4 theme list. I really want to try out a completely new army for this "competition" so I'm aiming at 50p Merc's, but there might sneak in a few Menite or Skorne models somewhere as well.
Theme: I might try pink or white/light green, not sure yet.
What I plan to paint: Lots of Gun Mages, a whole bunch of solo's, two Vanguards, one Mariner, a Mule and one Nomad.

(Might I add that this is a great idea, "forcing" yourself to paint up that army you really want, you don't want to chicken out from the challenge do you?)

Intro: Started playing this year sometime and use both Khador and Mercs... Albeit of the silver variety on pretty black ground

Faction(s): Khador and Mercs (mostly Shae tier, but I will be expanding soon into nearly every other caster)

Theme: Khador - black and gold, Shae - Piraty

What I plan to paint: Every model I have and will acquire this year, bar the Iron Fangs... Which is about 150-200 pts of Khador (I haven't counted) and around 100 pts of mercs. I have a monumental task ahead.

Intro: I started playing back around September when my FLGS started up a Journeyman league, but with the craziness of school this semester plus starting roller derby, I'm still finishing up the battlebox (rather, I've finished Kaelyssa). I'm a super slow painter, because I'm all kinds of perfection-y about my painting, so I need something to hold me accountable for finishing.

Faction(s): Retribution, plus the Mercs/Minions that go along with it

    Theme: Pink!

What I plan to paint : Ossyan, Sentinels + UA, Stormfall Archers, Mage Hunter Strike Force + Commander, Destors, Arcanists x 2, Mage Hunter Assassins x 2 or 3, AltEiryss, plus whatever else I end up getting this year - so, a lot.

intro: well with one young kid and a second on the way i dont get much hobby time. thus i'm hoping this will help me to get in some painting this year.

    Factions: Trolls, circle, khador, cryx

    theme: fully painted

plan to paint: 20 man o wars and 7 khador jacks are first up i hope. a handful of circle and cryx and the last few units/beasts to finish my largeish troll collection. and i still have to base ALL my trolls.
Exactly, Trolls are Voltron, they only do crazy powerful stuff when you put all of the pieces together.

Intro : I have been playing Warmachine/Hordes for about 2 years now. I have not always had a ton of time to play, paint, or assemble models, but I made some changes in my scheadule to make that happen in the past 4 months. With that change came some encouragement to get my PG status and help PG_Mellchia at my FLGS. So after the push to get my required assembly and painting done I am now left with a ton of Khador to paint as well as the extra battle boxes I have picked up to be able to demo any Warmachine faction.
Faction(s)* : Khador, some Mercs who work with Khador, possibly Skorne
Theme* : (if applicable) Tan/ Black Khador with red+bronze accents
What I plan to paint :
Warcasters: OW&SJ, Harkevich, Sorcha, Zerkova, Vlad2
Warjacks: Juggernaught, Destroyerx2, Marauder, Kodiakx2, Spriggan
Units: WGIDS, WGRC, Doom Reavers+GLE, Ternians, IFP+O&SB, Kossite Woodsmen, Great Bears, Kayazy Assassins +UB, Widowmakers
Solos: Kovnik Joe, Kuldun Lord, Manhunter, Manhuntress, Yuri, Widomaker Marksman, Wardog, MoW Drakun, Wishnylar, Kell Bailoch, Harlan Versh, Gorman, Reinholdt, Eiryss1

Plus I have a second Cygnar, Cryx, and Khador Battlebox to paint as well as a Menoth Battlebox to buy and paint.

And who knows what I will do for Skorne, just love the archidon model

Intro: I have been a gamer on and alot off for 15 years. Finally grown tired of GW and their shenanigans, and have decided PP is the way to go. I am a terrible painter so i am hoping that this will push me to get things painted and improve my skills. I love khador and am hoping i can do the fantastic minis justice.

    Faction: Khador
    .
Plan to Paint: A zerker, 2 heavy jacks, widowmakers, wardog, widowmaker solo, A WGDS,kovnik joe, a butcher and maybe karchev(or i might leave him till the end, i love karchev i don't want my bodgy painting skills to ruin the Jack god) and maybe some shocktroopers. First up will be the widowmakers. ON the plus side i will also learn how to use my camera.

    Intro-
I've been war gaming for a long time and have been playing Warmachine/Hoardes since MKI. I love the game and play whenever I can but between working two jobs and a D4/D3 paintball team time to paint is a huge luxury. There's a Journeyman league starting in a week or so at my flgs and thought joining up here would be an extra kick in the *** to paint!

    Faction-
Cygnar w/ a sprinkle of mercs and possibly cryx

    Theme-
The models i will ne painting will be a mix of two of my main lists; eCaine and eHaley in the army painter olive deal with khaki parts.

    What I plan to paint-
eHaley, eCaine, eStryker, rowdy, Stormclad, thorn, stormblades+ua+wa's, atgm+ua, junior,Strangeways, eEiryss, rupert, rienholt(sp), and anything else pertaining to my two lists.

Intro : Im kinda new to Warmahordes but not to wargaming. im a speed painter, due to my issue of being one eyed i have a depth perception problem that makes it extremly hard to do nice detaile work on my modells so i focus at Tabletop ready+.

Faction(s)* : Circle of orboros + a new army i will do for this challange. pbl Khador.

Theme* : not decided.. if Khador i go Black gray color theme

What I plan to paint : here i dont know yet either. but again im leaning on Khador

Intro: I'm thinking of switching from Circle to Cygnar for tournament play - especially for 2012s ETC in Salzburg. The overall goal, however, is to paint more points than I buy in 2012

    Faction(s)*: Cygnar

Theme*: not blue. I'm thinking of using a darker olive green as my base color.

What I plan to paint: I'd love to be able to field a fully painted T4 Stormbringers list - so I'll start with that.

Intro: I'm new to Warmachine and tabletop gaming in general, with Warmachine being my first ever. I've only been at for about 3ish months at this point, so hoping to get my skills up and my toy soldiers painted!

Faction (s): Khador and Menoth. Possibly some Legion towards the end of the year. Maybe.

Themes: Predominately white for Khador (already started) and predominately black for Menoth.

What I plan to paint: The rest of my Khador and starting on my eKreoss T3 theme force.
