I would love to participate in this, as an added motivation to get my models painted and to see what other people are doing. Here is my information.

Intro : I'm getting back into the game, and really want to move my focus from modeling to painting, and not have bare metal on the field anymore.

Faction(s): Blindwater Congregation, Protectorate of Menoth

Theme: Blindwater will be 'Battle in the Bayou' with a heavy swamp theme focusing on greens, browns, ect. Menoth I am going to focus on a white and red "Crusaders" theme.

What I plan to paint : My full Blindwater force, and 15pts of Menoth to hit the 50 although I will shoot to do both for 70pts worth total, focusing on the Blindwater Congregation first.

I'll play, been playing the game forever with painting inspiration coming in random spurts that very rarely resulted in painted models. It would be fun to get a whole army painted.

Factions: Khador, Trolls (if I get bored)

My khador is a white theme with red as a secondary color, Trolls are painted more or less studio scheme with blue skin and whatnot.

My plan is to paint 50 pts of khador and any troll odds and ends as I chug along.

    I'll bite here.

Intro: Just finished almost every Cryx model I have, but plan on making all-pirate (Satyxis/revenent/Blackbane/etc) lists for 2012. Also, just starting Gators
    Factions: Cryx/Gators
Theme: Cryx is a mix of silvers/golds and dark blues, with my pirates having extra highlights of reds/burgundy. Gators aren't too uniform, but I try to keep a deep blue/green color throughout for the cloth on the green gators and either light blue or orange for the brown crocs.

Hi there. I'm fairly new to the game but I've invested in a trove of models already.

Factions: Cygnar, Circle, Trollbloods, Cryx, Mercenaries, Khador, and Gatormans. I plan to complete several battleboxes so I can get a flavor of some different factions.
Theme: No theme really. Just get models painted and ready for the table.

    What I plan to paint:
I need a 35pt Circle Army for a Domination event coming up, so I'll be focusing there first. From there I'd like to get to 15pts for Trollblood, Cryx, and Khador (starting with the battle boxes but I don't have anything painted yet).

Intro - I'm active player of Warmahordes for little less than a year and I'm a big fan of it. I already took place to FPA road to 2012 and must say i completed it. Just few days ago I got more models and want to start painting them ASAP and I think this thread will be a great inspiration for me.

Factions - Circle Orboros, possibly Khador

Theme - Wasteland Orboros, green-ish with browns, rather standard painting
    Khador - mily-white Khador army

    Hi,

Intro: I just started this game in August, after looking for a place to play 40k, and finding that all the cool kids were playing Warmachine instead. Watched a game, talked to the gamers - and I was hooked. A WAY better game, with models that are approaching GW-level quality (and in some cases surpassed!) means I haven't opened my 40k box since (except to steal dice).

I've since painted 50 points of Khador, and 40 or so points of Cryx (I made a commitment to myself to play only with painted models), but found that was INSANE amounts of painting, so 50 points sounds good to me.

Faction: I plan on painting some more Khador, and then doing some Mercenaries and Cygnar. If I go crazy, there will be some Trollbloods or Thornfall alliance in there too.

Theme: Khador - Default, Red and Brown.
Mercenaries - I'm actually planning to transition these dudes into Cygnar, so probably a Dark Blue with some green in there.
Cygnar - Dark Blue, with some green in there.

    Planning On Painting -
Khador - Widowmakers , kholdun lord, black ivan, Harkevich, mortar, kommandos flame thrower (~20 pts)

Mercenaries - Greygore Boomhowler & Co., Rutger Shaw, Vanguard, Teryn Di Rossi, reinhart, Dannon Blyth and Bull, Kell Beiloch (~20 pts)

Cygnar - Constance Blaize, gun mages, jonas murdoch, gallant, centurion ( ~25 pts)

That's way over, but I'm gonna assume some stuff falls off the list, especially when I see what gets released.

Is it considered cheating to prep the models for painting (assembly and preparing the base)?
I'm changing my work schedule in early January so I was hoping to save some time by preparing as many models as possible before the challenge starts, I hope it's ok.

If it's not ok... I'm one weaponswapped Ashlynn, a Nomad and Taryn with cobblestone/ruined bases ahead of myself...

I'd like to jump into this if I can. I don't have the greatest track record with meeting deadlines (I haven't finished a model for myself in a little over a year), but I think that 50pts in a year is a goal that I can meet.

Intro: I've been wargaming for close to 20 years now. Started with GW (2nd edition 40K, 4th or 5th edition fantasy), ended up working for them for a little bit. I picked up Warmachine right around the time it debuted, but never really had a group that played until the coming of 5th edition 40K when my entire gaming group pretty much dropped GW cold. Been playing as much as I can since then but being stationed overseas has left me with less opportunities to play than I'd like. I suffer from severe faction ADD, and am currently in the process of taking a hard look at what I own and what I don't see myself playing. Space right now is at a premium so I'm having to sell off what I won't be using.

Factions: Cryx, Khador, Gators, and a possible foray into Circle

Theme: For Khador I'm contemplating a 5th Border Legion scheme, Gators are Halloween themed, Cryx I'm thinking oxidized bronze/copper but I'm not sure what other colors. If I do get into Circle I think I'm going with an autumn scheme...but I may have to think on it a little more

    Painting Planned:

    35pt eButcher
    35pt Barnabus
50pt Mortenebra (this is what I'll be focusing on for now, in the hopes of getting it done in time for Lock and Load)

Just a question, are we going to be allowed to carry over excess points from the month before into the next? Say I painted a Wrastler in January that is 9 pts, would that 4pts over be carried over and say allow me to paint a 3pt Snapper and use points from the left-over balance? Just trying to have a game plan put together for this and how to apporach it is all.

Intro : I've been playing a little over a month now, I have cryx and khador as my two factions. I am not a great painter and really just want to get a table top quality. I am very tired of fielding unpainted models and this seems like the motivation I need to keep me painting.

I plan to paint all of my Khador which include:

    Old Witch + Scrapjack
    Behemoth
    Destroyer
    widowmakers
    widowmaker marksman
    eEiryss
    aiyana and holt
    winterguard
    2 mortar crew
    kovnik joe
    kodiak
    berserker
    magnetized plastic jack kit
    IFP w/ standard bearer
    Wardog
    eVlad
    eSorscha
    pSorscha
    Spriggan
    2 full demo corps units
    Kayazy assassins
    Kayazy underboss
    Kayazy eliminators

Theme: stealth black with blue accents. Arctic Tundra type basing

Painting Planned so far: my 35 pt. Old witch list finished by the end of january.

stormshaft - No, preparing models ahead of time is fine, as is completing models that are already WIP. I know I've got the Thunderhead, eNemo and six Stormguard that are varying degrees of WIP which I aim to finish in Q1 - alongside pBaldur, a Woldwatcher and a unit of Steelhead Riflemen...

Trevor Drake - For ease of book-keeping, I'm going to say no here. 'Tis a lot easier for me to say "player X has posted 6 points in the Month Y Completed thread, therefore they're fine. Player A has only posted 2 points in said thread, so they're using one of their "Get out of painting free" cards. This was partially covered in the second question in the original post, too.

    -----------

We're up to a total of 40 people signed up so far, which is a great start - I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm looking forwards to seeing what people get up to next year!
    Painted: Mercs: 194pts, 5 casters | Cygnar: 102pts, 5 casters | Minions: 52pts, 2 casters | Trolls: 25pts, 1 caster | Circle: 30pts, 1 caster - Latest: Sentry Stone, 6 Stormguard

Intro: I am just getting into Hordes and Warmachine. I have loved the look of the models since Warmachine was first released. I am a procrastinator and I hope this challenge will help me get some painting done with the help of monthly deadlines.

Faction: I have a good many Legion of Everblight models collected already so that is what I'll start with. I'll probably also start adding some Trollkin and Khador if I keep my momentum going.

Theme: I will be doing a Thagrosh themed force, both the Prophet and the Messiah lists.

What I'll be painting: I'm starting this whole project from scratch so I'll start with some Blighted Ogrun, Thagrosh the Prophet and some war beasts of various types including Typhon. I'll add to that core force as my interest takes me.

    Name: Woldwrath
Intro: I've been playing Warmahordes since late escalation timeframe. I origionally purchased some stuff for an Old Witch army, then traded them and some cash for a bunch of Menoth, and never got to use either. When Hordes hit, I bought a Trollblood box and played them for years. I faction flopped all over every single faction at least twice outside of Cygnar and Retribution. I have a huge problem keeping focused on one faction and this time around getting back into the game I took a look hard consideration of what to play and it came down to Retribution, being the one army that I actually like every last option it has, across the board. Unfortuneately, they are drastically different playstyle wise from anything I am used to so it will be an uphill battle to relearn the game.

    Factions: Retribution of Scyrah

Pewter Mountain: Rahn, Chimera, 10 Invictors, Magister, 2 Assassins, and more incoming (Heavy Myrmadon, Invictor UA, Battle Mages, stuff to round out my 35) & (Plenty of Malifaux and Helldorado to catch up on...)

Theme: No theme force intended but my list is:

    Rahn
    *Phoenix
    *Chimera
    10 Invictors
    *UA
    6 Battle Mages
    2 Assassins
    Magister

From here, we will see where I go to 50. Probably either a battle engine or Discordia + more solo goodness.

Been playing Warmachine since Apothesis... Khador mainly, but I also have Cryx, Legion, Skorne, and Mercs.
    Faction(s)* :
Oh dang, I already did this didn't I?
    Theme* :
    Black & Tans!
What I plan to paint :
Well... my main goal is going to be to work on some Khador stuff. If I am able to land an airbrush I'll start on the cryx too (lock and load here I come!). That is a big iff though. No definite models planned yet, but I'll keep ya all posted. I may work in some Mercs here and there too... just to mix it up a bit ya know?

Intro : I have been playing table top games for the best part of 17 years. It used to be primarily 40k however, after finishing uni and Bristol finally having it own FLGS me and my friends have been expanding into more diverse and enjoyable games. I picked up Warmachine a few months ago and I have really got the bug for it so I am desperate to get a painted force on the table.

    Faction:Khador
Theme: Steering away from the traditional all red as having had to paint 3000pts worth of blood angels in a 2 month window I am sick of it lol. Going more a more camo(Ish) green style. Like my other models - HERE

What I plan to paint : Everything. I currently have 35pts worth of models that I am painting through at the moment but I plan to purchase about 100pts worth of other models over Christmas and the new year. Current plan is to paint every Khador model I own. At the present consists of this:
    pButcher - Painted
    pSorscha
    Wardog - Painted
    Juggernaught - Painted
    Marauder - Painted
    Kodiak
    Yuri - Painted
    Marksman
    Mechaniks
    Great Bears
    Manhunter
    Assassins
    Assassin Underboss

Intro : I'm brand new to Warmachine, but have painted minis for my extensive board game collection. I also used to paint GW stuff as a child (1980s).

    Faction(s) : Mercenaries, specifically Searforge / Rhulic.

Theme : Snow and rock bases, dark grey clothes, pale grey armour, glowing runes, tarnished copper.

What I plan to paint : The 50pt army I foolishly bought to use at my new weekly wargames club!

    Gorten Grundback
    Driller
    Blaster x2
    Gunner x2

    Thor Steinhammer
    Basher
    Avalancher

    Brun Cragback and Lug

Intro: YogSothothery, I got into PP why back when the original Witchfire the longest night adventure dropped and had an on again off again relationship with PP over the years. Never got into MK1 when it first came out but wasn't into wargaming back then. skip a few years and a collage education and I'm back. this time i'm really interested in wargaming and I would like to give it ago. I have yet to play a game but a few of my friends just bought a battlebox so hopefully we will start playing soon. My personal goal is to get some of the local gamers in to this as well. my gamer community is dominated my magic players and 40k players i'm hoping I can break the 40k hold.

Faction: Legion. so far I only have 35 pts but I'm hoping this will also push me into getting up to 50pts.

Theme: I have no idea yet. I still need to buy paint.

what I plan to paint: All of what I have.

Intro: Been playing off and on now since Apotheosis, getting distracted as life gets in the way. Mostly want to work on my trollbloods as they are my favorite army of all the many miniature games that I play... I already have 50 or so points painted but they are a pretty brick type force and I want some new pretty toys to play with. My trolls take me awhile to paint so I may work on some of the Cygnar and Rhul that I have to make up points in a pinch as they are more "battlefield" standard.

    Factions: Trolls, Cygnar, Rhul

Theme: I've based my troll scheme on the first test Ally McVey did which is how I wish the studio trolls had been done... My results so far are here... http://privateerpressforums.com/show...rry-to-games))

Cygnar is also pretty standard with a bit more beige... http://privateerpressforums.com/show...(Lots-of-Pics)

Mercs are grey and tan, trying to be more military but don't have any finished...

What I plan to paint: Trolls! Every Buffalo in the army to start, plus Borka...

Intro: Hey Guys, so I actually started playing when Prime Mark 1 was originally released and my poison of choice was Cryx for several years. For the first several years of this game I focused very heavily on the competitive aspect, often going to major events at Gencon and Privateer weekend. My love for the game and desire to help build a strong local community led me to becoming a pressganger back when Biggie had just taken charge. However, life changes. I finished residency and began working a fulltime practice and having 4 great children with a wonderful wife. This inevitably led to me having less and less time though to dedicate to my hobby. Just as Mark II came out, a buddy/fellow PG Stunami came up with the idea of Fight Club, a chance to adopt and explore new factions. I felt like Trolls were the hardest faction to play, at that time, and took up their cause and have never looked back. I enjoy their unique combination of old world views, modern technology, brute strength, and hilarity. With my waning ability to actually play hordes I have begun dedicating more time to the hobby aspect. This thread is a great way to keep myself motivated as I work towards preparing for Privateer Weekend's Hardcore event and the P3 competition at Gencon.

    Factions: Trollbloods

Theme: Trolls, trolls, and more trolls. These will be done in the classic colors but with my own twists.

Painting Planned: Finish Mulg redo, P Doomshaper redo, Epic Grissel, RoK, EBDT, Mauler, Warwagon, Champions, Sons of Bragg, and what ever else catches my fancy.

Intro: Hey Guys ... Been playing since MK I ... gave up around the time of the trials ... jumped back in on MK II ... now been on and off due to a work roster that is 4 weeks on and 1 week off ... and I have to fly into work. Means I am rather limited in what I can bring ... This seems like the best idea to FINALLY get a fully painted 35pt army plus extras painted up so count me in.

Factions: For this challenge I want a fully painted Tier 4 Kraye army at 35pts ... a fully painted Tier 4 Everblight army ... and possibly finishing my Tier4 Ashlynn Army ... need to set my sights high at this stage ...

Theme: Kraye will be a relatively standard scheme with a slight twist here or there ... My Everblight is going to be along the lines of Cloudfangs Orange Blight ... (If you havent seen it, search for it ... you wont be disappointed) Ashlynns list is a fairly standard purple Llael scheme ...

Painting Planned : Start with Kraye, some jacks ... and see what takes my fancy ...

Intro : I've been playing since MK I Prime days, started out with Cygnar. The swan never really fit me, and for a long time I only had one opponent who stomped me regularly with Khador. I played on and off for a while, then picked up the Protectorate and found them a much better fit! I've since branched off into Mercs and am stoked to get a strong Morrowan Merc army up and running.

On the Hordes side I started with Legion, but they never really fit me either. I've since picked up a bunch of Pigs who are sitting around in boxes and started Trolls for the local Journeyman and they are a much better fit! I'll be painting up Pigs and Trolls for this for sure.

Faction(s)* : Trolls, Protectorate, Mercs and Minions.

What I plan to paint : Lots of Trolls, lots of Protectorate. Mercs and Minions will be added as I need a change of pace.

    Name: Nemlock

Intro: I've pained odd models here and there for at least 20 years. Sadly the final tally of finished models is absymally small. Tons of WIP stuff. I've been playing WarmaHordes just under a year now. Started with Cryx, moved onto Legion, in the process of painting Blindwater for my local PG, and add Retribution to the list when their new jacks are released because "ooo shiny". I've got a bunch of WIP Cryx, painted Scythean Angelius Saeryn, should finish a full posse of Gators by next week.

Factions: Cryx, Legion, Blindwater, and eventually Retribution.

What I plan to paint: roughly 40 points of crocs including Maelok which is scaring me silly, 2 Carnivean Chasis, hopefully a Legion caster or 2, and undoubtedly a Vyre chasis Myrmidon. Good thing I'm aiming low eh?

Having recently bought the first model for a Skorne army with all good intentions of buying and painting a 'beast / unit at a time etc, this could be good motivation to ensure that this time next year I've got a sizable playable force (like many, I'm terrible for buying minis and never getting them painted)

I've played since the heady days of Prime and the original battleboxes when that's all there was, but got out of it for a few years (regretted it!), so getting my collection back up can only be a good thing

I'll confess I'm not one to frequent the Painting Forums much, but hopefully by subscribing to this thread I'll keep abreast of the new threads etc!

Here's to getting 2012 off to a start with paintbrush in hand!

Early painting list will probably be... Bronzeback and eMorg in Month 1, max Paingiver Beast Handlers (6 models for 3pts, already thinking ewww!), an Agonizer and a Cyclops Brute in Month 2 and see where it goes from there Granted, I'm starting off planning 10pts a month, mainly to enthuse me to get our painting evenings going again between me and my mates.

Would it not be a good idea, when this starts, to split it up into factions, so people can get an easy overveiw of what to look at instead of many many different pages with many different factions.

Ok, I'd like to at least try this......

Intro : I've been playing for a year now. Started with Khador but couldn't get on with them and then bought a job lot of Circle which I really enjoy playing. Would be really nice to get some paint on them so they look better on the table and would mean that I could, in theory, attennd a tournament!
    Faction(s)* : Circle
Theme* : none really, lets see where the paint takes me...
What I plan to paint : Well I've got a test 35 point eKaya list and I'll need a backup list for that (got Grayle, Moshar, Kromac, pBaldur and pKreugar to choose from). Even with possible duplication two 35 point lists should get me about 50 points done.

PS. My painting sucks so don't expect any masterpieces! lol.

    Name: Ragged

Intro: I've been on the forums for a while as GreyMan, but pc issues have resulted in me taking on a new identity. I've been painting and playing with mini's since the late 80's and I think I'm finally getting good at it.

Factions: Cryx, Cygnar, Khador, and now Blindwater

What I plan to paint: Gators, gators, gators! Calaban, Barnabas, Maelok, Blackhide Wrastler, Ironback Spitter, Bull Snapper, Gatorman Posse x2, Croak Hunter, Witchdoctor, Totem Hunter, Wrong Eye & Snapjaw

    Name Asa

Intro: I have been playing for almost 2 years now, have become a press ganger and have 5 (really 5? yup 5!) factions. I have a bunch painted but need to press onward!

Factions, in order of play: Menoth 73 models 39% painted,
    Skorne 68 models 80% painted,
    Blindwater 24 models 50% painted,
    Legion 25 models 96% painted,
    Cygnar 23 models 21% painted

Theme: Menoth- Pretty close to studio, except I made them all brown skinned, think Moors
Skorne-Actual Skorne are studio, except with blue skin (ala psycho Smurfs), Cyclopses have Green Armor, Titans have Blue.
Legion-Beasts are Red and Black, Nyss are light purple skin with light blue hair (it looks pretty cool)
Blindwater-Muddy Gators!! Using gloss varnish and dirt makes cool mud effects.
    Cygnar- Greens and Golds

Painting Planned: Ideally get caught up, although I am getting pushed farther back once my next PG order shows.
I want to get my Feora2 list up and running, my Maelok list up (once Swamp Horror is available) and maybe dabble in Cryx one day.

Intro: I've been playing Warmachine off and on (mostly off) since the very beginning. I've been playing Cryx, but now I'm looking to start Legion. While I don't have a problem with getting stuff painted, I do have troubles with pacing and getting things finished. Hopefully this will motivate me to see things through to the end.

Faction: Legion. Maybe some residual Cryx. Maybe some Circle.

Theme: Studio scheme, more or less.

What I plan to paint: Hmm, let's start with the battlebox and see where things go from there.

As long as you're getting your figures painted - and you're satisfied with them - then that is the main thing. Also, if you want to ask people how they achieve certain effects or do certain techniques while the WIP threads are up, I'm sure people will be willing to pass on tips.

That isn't my intent at the minute. As noted in the initial post, each month will see a WIP thread and a Completed Models thread posted - the WIP thread should go up on the 1st of the month, and I'm aiming for the Completed thread to go up on the last Monday of the month (NB - Be aware that I'm in the UK, so your perception of time/date may vary). There will also be a stickied Directory thread with links to each month's thread, plus the sign-up thread, as well as a record of how many "Get Out of Painting Free" cards people have left.

Having said that, the idea of a gallery of completed works, broken down by faction (and contract/pact, in the case of Mercs and Minions) is an interesting one, and one I'll probably do a survey of in the Month 1 Completion thread.

    ---------

I bought and assembled the Woldwatcher I need for my Month 1 target - wheels are starting to turn, rust is falling off the old creative braincells once more...
    Painted: Mercs: 194pts, 5 casters | Cygnar: 102pts, 5 casters | Minions: 52pts, 2 casters | Trolls: 25pts, 1 caster | Circle: 30pts, 1 caster - Latest: Sentry Stone, 6 Stormguard

Then I would also like to sign up for this,
    name: Polle

Intro, have played warhammer for many yrs, but 8th killed it for me, and started Warmachine, it's all what people said it was, way back, and wished I had started it earlier, but thems the breaks.

    Faction: Menoth

Theme: Will be a dark armor and a contrasting maybe red, to brighten things up

What I plan to paint, would be over the yr, i want to at least have 2 50 point armies to play with.

    Cheers

Intro : Chris_Cryx here, been into Privateer Press since it launced in the UK ten years ago (!), have a nice collection of Gators and Cryx stuff - have quite a few mercs who ally with my Cryx on a regular basis too.

Faction(s)* : Cryx, Gators but will be doing Trollbloods for this project

Theme* : (if applicable) None springs to mind, purple tartan is a must!

What I plan to paint : Still to be decided upon really - I need to decide on caster first, thinking of pHoarluk, eHoarluk, Grim Angus or even Captain Gunnbjorn

edit : In the cold light of day, I realised I would much rather get my Cryx collection fully painted than mess around with a new faction for Hordes, when I already have a nice Gator collection.
