Thunderhead pulse vs bilethralls purge wording

Am I correct in saying thunder heads pulse attacks require a hit roll against models within range as the card doesn't say the attack auto hits it just says hits all models unlike the similar attack of the purgin bile thrall?

You are not correct. In both cases no roll is need.

Not really. The only reason they added the word "hit" is because of the Thunderhead having sustain attack.
