Default Returning to PP/'Diles, got a few Q's

    Hi gang,

I've had quite a hiatus due to the simple fact that I've played a lot of Gorkamorka, Warhammer Fantasy and Puppet Wars (which, by the way, is an amazing board game).

Now, I took a peek in my cousin's copy of Domination and fell right back in love with the Gators. The Witch Doctor primarily and Maelok/Swamp Horror secondarily caught my attention. Since I am but a poor, poor student I have a few questions before I set out to somehow get some of the new miniatures. First one: Which US website is the cheapest for getting WM/H? Are we allowed to discuss that? The Indianapolis/Chicago areas in particular.

    Also, this is my collection:
    Bloody Barnabas
    Ironback Spitter
    Bull Snapper
    Gatorman Posse (3)
    Totem Hunter
    2 Croak Hunters
    Swamp Gobber Bellows Crew
    Wrong Eye & Snapjaw
    Farrow Bone Ginders Grinders (4)
    Rorsh & Brine
One Blackhide Wrastler card (I used this for Snapjaw as a stand-in for a Wrastler)

I'd like to get a Swamp Horror and a Blackhide Wrastler, and if I can ever afford it Maelok the Dreadbound as well. I feel like I should, to be more competitive, get a box of 5 Gatormen Posse... Sigh. What'd you recommend? What can I make from the above? What are some good Bloody Barnabas tactics?

    Thanks.

    Two boxes.

So I will need at least 2x 5 Gatormen Posse? Is 1x 5 and 1x 3 not enough?

Get one 5 man box and two blisters to round out the other one you already have of 3.

From the inventory that you've posted I'd start out by picking up that Wrastler. He can be quite a monster with Barnabas. That, and pick up two individual gatormen to round out your posse to 5 models.

Play at around 35 points for a bit. Proxy in some more stuff (bog trogs, for example, are something I rarely see recommended but they can work wonders sometimes. Try out a min unit when you get a chance). At any rate, this will get you playing/painting again for a minimum outlay.

When you get tired of Barnabas pick up Maelok. The lists will be similar but you'll have a very different feel with the new caster.

Well without a doubt the only thing you "need" is to up the 3 gatormen to a 5 gator posse.

That will give you a solid base to build a few combinations of 15-35pts.

For more points or more variation at those lower points I would say it's your choice between another 5 gator posse and a wrastler next depending on if you want to go more beast heavy or get more claws on the ground.

Then for mooore points/options get whichever of those 2 you didn't get in the last stage.

Of course at any stage you can branch out into the other casters or some of the new stuff like the Swamp Horror and of course the Witch Doctor you are so interested in.

So yeah long post short, pick up 2 gatormen and a Witch Doctor first and you should be in a solid position both from a general tactics/options standpoint and having the model you really want, all for not a huge hit to the wallet.

Thank you Wintersmith and Inkallim for the helpful replies.

I found a site which has a box of 3 Gatormen, I'll get that to begin with along with a Wrastler. That'll get me a spare Posse leader for converting into a Witch Doctor anyway :-) Second step (far in the future) will be Maelok and the Swamp Horror when it's released. Is this enough? Will I be competitive in any way? Not that I play in a truly competitive environment, but I'd like to know I stand a chance before I begin...

I think a good portion of that depends on how many points you generally play in your area. If you play 35 and under then you can get away with one Posse and be very competitive. At 50 two full units becomes almost a must. You can do without it but you may leave yourself low on some infantry killing power.

For online stuff I order from www.coolstuffinc.com as they show thier stock levels and reward you for being loyal. After you get the first tier of discounts they become the cheapest place on the net.

2 gator posses as Jestor says is probably be more competative at 50pts but 1 posse, a Swamp Horror and a Spitter is still a fair bit of infantry killin. While the wrastler and snapjaw mess up anything heavier with solos running about being annoying and lookin for assassination runs.
