    Default Steamroller Thoughts/Advice

    So, I'm playing in a 35 point 2 list steamroller 2011 tournament on sunday, And, As my first tournament, I thought I best get some advice from my fine Komrades!

    I have access to;

    Casters

    pSorcha
    pButcher
    Harkevich
    Old Witch

    Units

    WGI Deathstar
    MoW Shockies
    MoW Demo Corp
    WGI Mortar
    Widowmakers
    Greylord Ternions
    Great Bears

    Solos

    Wyshnalyrr
    eEiryss
    Widowmaker Marksman
    Kovnik Joe
    Yuri
    2x Manhunter
    Aiyana and Holt
    Wardog

    'Jack

    Kodiak
    Juggernaut
    Destroyer
    Plastic 'jack kit, Magnetized
    Devestator
    2x Spriggan
    2x Berserker

    With that taken into consideration, My thoughts for 2 lists, so far, Are as follows

    List 1;

    Old Witch +3
    -Spriggan -10

    WGI Max -6
    3x Rocketeer -3
    UA -2
    Kovnik Joe -2
    Great Bears -5
    eEiryss -3
    Yuri The Axe -3
    2x Manhunter -4

    This I am fairly comfortable with, Tend to revolve around taking second turn, Running scrappy, Unseenpathing to him with the witch and popping feat, Then picking my fights as they panic to get back into position, So far, not lost a game in this manner with the list, Though I thought taking first, And popping feat on my T2 may be better,

    List 2;

    pSorcha +5
    -Destroyer - 9
    -Destroyer - 9

    Widowmakers -4
    Marksman -2
    WGI Mortar -3
    Great Bears -5
    eEiryss -3
    Wysnalyrr -2
    Yuri The Axe -3

    This one i'm less sure on, But I plan to only run it once, and only vs a Warmachine matchup, And go for simple pop feat, shoot caster until they die or I do, Possibly dropping tempest on anything blocking LoS to let the windowmakers join the fun

    Any thoughts or advice would be greatly apreciated!

    I like Yuri with pSorsha because Fog of War let's him run around wherever he wants with high DEF. I'm curious as to why you want to bring 2 demolishers with Sorsha. Not saying it's a bad idea. Just not necessarily what I would go with.

    Pretty much as a poor mans behemoth, Though i'm open to switching it to a decimator, That is very much the list i'm unsure of though, Arcing fire struck me as a good way to win quickly, and get that game out of the way and done with quickly

    It can definitely work. Especially if you move Sorsha up to get LoS on their caster and pop her feat, hitting with a bunch of Arcing fire from backfield can cause some problems for your opponent, although at that point most of my caster-kills are at the hands of Sorsha herself charging 14" around a corner. What's the POW on the Demolisher's guns?

    Destro is Pow 14 range 14, Deci is Pow 15, range 10 RoF 2 I believe, Makes me think one of each is possibly a better choice if I can get the deci LoS

    Well I would be hesitant to take 2 of the same 'Jack personally, but a lot of people would disagree with me. I haven't played with either, but I like them both on paper. The Decimator is also better in melee I believe for what it's worth. You may want to consider a Spriggan if you're already cool with spending 20 pts on 2 'jacks. With all the widowmakers and marksman and such it could be really useful to be able to get rid of stealth/camouflage depending on what kind of list you end up playing against.

    I was considering a spriggan, But it doesnt do alot to help on feat turn, Aside from the potential charge, Which can't really be relied upon, Keeping in mind that list will be used exclusively for one game, In which ill be looking purely for the assassination

    Well, Spriggan does still have arcing fire on his two grenade launchers, but if that's all you want to use it for then the Demolisher, Destroyer or Decimater are all possibly better ranged options. I like Spriggan for bulldoze+reach+mat8 on the charge, which makes it a great melee assassination 'jack. I think regardless of what your second 'jack is though, one demolisher and a mortar should be plenty of arcing fire to take out any frozen caster.

    I haven't played with the Old Witch at all, so I can't really say from experience, but for what it's worth, she's the next model I'm planning on picking up and I like her a lot. It looks like a pretty solid list. Sounds like you've had a lot of success with it so I think you would know better than I would. I'm not a big fan of WGI in general, but do you find that they work well with the old witch?

    Demolisher = 2x POW 15 Range 8 blast weapon,

    Decimator = POW15 Range 10 RoF2, no blast

    Destroyer = POW14 Range 14, blast, arcing fire

    They're also all 9pts, not 10 as you have listed
