    Default Skullcrafts

Anybody ever bought stuff from skullcrafts.com? I was very excited to get some of the leaf scatter he sells, but after placing an order in December I haven't gotten any correspondence and the guy hasn't returned any of my emails asking for a status update. Anybody else order from him recently? Anybody know the guy? I want to give him the benefit of the doubt, but I'm getting pretty frustrated.

I was planning on using his basing materials for the Retribution army I'm putting together. Saw some bases Kris Johnson (EXPLOSIVO!) did at Warmachine weekend using Skullcrafts stuff and wanted to try something similar.

I'm interested to know also, I was thinking about buying a kit or 2 from there but this makes me a little hesitant

Wow! You and I are in the exact same situation. Sort of.

I also ordered leaf scatter for my Ret army back in December, and still haven't got it. I wrote emails asking for updates, but received nothing.

Finally, I decided to open a dispute ticket with paypal and asked for a refund. The seller apologized profusely, citing glitches in his email that are preventing him from receiving orders. Paypal closed my ticket as resolved, but I need to keep an eye out for my refund.

I may give him another chance as I really want the leaf scatter, but if the same thing happens again, I will look elsewhere.

I think he was pretty good until about a year ago, but since he seems to have turned into a bit of a flake. I'd go for Hudson&Allen or GF9 stuff, and hold off on ordering from Skullcrafts until he gets his **** back together.

Damn, wish I knew this before I placed an order with Skullcrafts Jan 19th. My stuff would not have arrived yet anyway being in Australia but sure hope I don't get screwed around.

Products look so cool, would be a shame if this guy doesn't get this sorted. If my order has problems I'll let you know.

Skyline7, perhaps lodge a paypal ticket.

Got a couple kits about a year and a half ago. Pretty good quality, especially the leaf scatter imho. If he's gotten lazy on the supply end it's a shame.

Unfortunately, it looks like I waited too long to start a paypal dispute. It's been more than 45 days since I placed my order, and that's their cutoff for disputing a payment. I guess I'll just have to hope my stuff will show up eventually.

Glad I posted this thread. I might be out of luck, but at least it'll keep other people from making the same mistake. Ordered some leaf scatter direct from Hudson & Allen Studio today. Hopefully that will go a little better.

For what it is worth, the URL is registered to this person:

    James O'Brien
    Phone: 5036405445

The email (goblinspit@hotmail.com) matches up, so you might want to give him a call and see what's up if his email is glitching. I can give you the whole address and the like, but I don't think it should be posted here, despite it being publicly available elsewhere.

Also, his Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Skull...8557642?v=wall seems very active lately, maybe you can get hold of them there.

I had a similar experience with the guy. When I finally got through, he said he hadn't seen the notification, etc. He apologized profusely and sent a handful of freebies with the order. I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt and order again, but this time it was processed right away and I got it about a week later.

The product is good. But it seems like your mileage may vary on the service.

I'm at all 4 of these places often and I've never seen anything approximating leaf litter for our scale. Am I just looking in the wrong place?

A local artist shared his secret to making great "leaf" scatter: spray-painted oregano.

When he told me that, my jaw instantly dropped.

It's the dyed birch seed "leaves" I'm after. Haven't seen anyone but Skullcrafts and Hudson & Allen sell them, and the Hudson & Allen stuff is notoriously hard to find in stock. I use GF9 or Woodland Scenics for everything else.

I ordered some stuff from him about a year ago and had no problems. I ordered again it around this past Thanksgiving and it took awhile. After 2 weeks i emailed him and he got back a week later saying the order got lost in his email, for which he appologized and sent the stuff out quick. Im suprised he hasnt gotten this problem fixed by now.

I got good service from him when I last ordered leaf scatter, but it has been awhile since I placed an order (2 years). He's also registered on the boards but hasn't been active in awhile.

    Default Apologies

This is James from Skullcrafts (yes, the owner). First, let's get the apologies out of the way. I am truly sorry for this massive cluster. I am not only not receiving notifications from PayPal, I am not receiving emails properly either. It's like everyone who tries to email me is being put directly into junk and auto-deleted. I have been talking to both Microsoft and PayPal and they tell me that it's on my side... okay, seeing how I haven't changed any settings in years, I can't see how that's even possible. At any rate, we are looking for a fix as I type this. I took the site down just so no more orders can be processed without me knowing about it. However, that leaves (to my estimation) about 4-6 months worth of orders that I have no idea even existed. I was notified here and there from select repeat customers but anyone new who ordered seemed to get ignored by the system. So... with that being said, here's what I'm currently trying to do about this.

#1. I will honor ALL existing orders that have not been processed since November of last year. I will have to manually go back through PayPal and look for each one individually, but any order that says it's not been completed will get completed.

#2. Any order that PayPal will not honor, I WILL. That means if you didn't get your order and you can't make a claim against me through PayPal, I will honor it none the less. I will either send you the original order or I will send you a personal payment through PayPal. Either way, I am not about to steal from my customers.

#3. Contrary to any rumors that may be floating around, Skullcrafts is still here. Sure, we may be experiencing some heavy glitches right now but I promise you that ALL of that will be fixed before too long. I will not activate the website untill all the bugs are worked out and we put more safeguards in place.

#4. How do you get in contact with me? The only email I have right now is the goblinspit one that a previous poster listed. If I do NOT receive an email from you or YOU don't receive an email from me, PLEASE go through PayPal and contact me through there. Until this is fixed, they are my only options right now.

#5. I promise each any every one of you that I will make all of this right by you. You WILL have a refund or your products. It may take some time for me to go through all of this, but please be aware that I am fixing this RIGHT NOW. My sincerest apologies.

    Hey James,
You should look into using 1shoppingcart.com - this requires a merchant account though.

Or just do a quick google search for "PayPal competitors" and you'll find a number of better alternatives.
www.noca.com is making some waves with those of us who hate PayPal and their BS when running a small online biz.

As for email, perhaps give gmail a try.
Microsoft is like our Washington leaders, useless and will always blame you for the problems they cause(d).

The whole website is down. So are you basically out of business now and just honouring your last orders?

I took the website down so I wouldn't get any more orders. I need to fix that part before I can put it back up live again. No, not out of business, just frustrated and working hard for a fix. It's going to take time, just as honoring all the orders I missed is going to take time. Believe me when I tell you that I am probably more frustrated than my customers who didn't receive the products. Not to mention embarrassed and ashamed. I really really really don't like it when my customers are unhappy. I know this all directly affects my integrity both personally and professionally, so yeah I'm going to have to work extra extra hard at fixing this ASAP. Skullcrafts will return... hopefully stronger than before.

Arkblade: I closed a dispute claim with you recently on Paypal after you contacted me (Dylan Kosick), can you please keep me updated with how the order is going? Email me or inform me on here when the order has been dispatched.

I would suggest switching email service providers immediately. If Hotmail is eating all your customer's emails, then switch to something that causes less hassle. I've always liked gMail. I don't know if you can change the email address associated with your Paypal account, but if so, do it. It's good to hear that you'll be honoring all those lost orders, as well. I've never ordered from Skullcrafts, but I've looked over the site now and again and thought about it.

Still waiting for my purchases from this guy and have had no communication from him since I closed my pay pay dispute ticket with him (so he could send the purchases...). Far as I can tell this guy is full of it and I completely disbelieve how "hard" he is working to resolve all these issues with other customers as well as me. I would advise people to open a pay pal dispute ticket and get a refund; its not worth the hassle and time to try and get the leaf scatter. This sucks.

I had bought some stuff last fall, around Sept or Oct, got my items in about 2 weeks. Sucks to hear you guys are having such rough luck. All I did was call after about 3-4 days just to make sure he got the order (I just like doing that where ever I buy from), said he had an issue with PayPal not notifying him via email (if you pay using that option, that is), he got it taken care of, mailed my stuff within 48 hours.

Exactly, you don't get a response from the emails you send to the goblinspit address. So you left in the dark wondering *** is the status with your order. Considering how long this problem has been going on apparently I don't think this guy makes much of an effort with his business or with this issue.

I have never seen the skull craft product so I do not know how good it looks, but if you are looking for scaled "natural" looking foliage there is a trick that I used for years in the military modeling side of things......

Step 1- get a large handful of real colored leafs, if you are making a spring-time base, get shades of green, if it is a fall base then get oranges and browns...size is not so importation at this point.
Step 2- peel leafs from the stems so that all you have is the "leaf" part
Step 3- put your leafs and a bit of water in a blender, set the blender to "chop" and pulse the blender a few times, careful because if it is too long you just end up with soup, to short and the leafs are too big.
Step 4- pour your leaf soup mix out onto an old towel, wrap the towel around the leafs and press as much water out as you can, do not push to hard you do not want damage the fragile leaves at this point.
Step 5- get some parchment paper from the grocer, lay it down on a cookie sheet and spread your leaf emulsification out on the paper. Put in the oven at about 200 degrees from about 2 to 3 hours.
Step 6- enjoy the new basing material!!

    Ashton
