Thread: Metal AOE rings

    Default Metal AOE rings

Been searching for these for a while, not having much luck. You know the ones I mean 3" 4" and 5" steel or brass rings. If anyone can let me know where I can pick these up in the UK that'd make my day.

    Thanks in advance.

It is US based, maybe their shipping isn't too bad though.

My bad, seems they do not ship to the UK.

You should be able to get them locally at any craft store that sells leather working supplies such as Michael's or A.C. Moore...

alsoe check hardware stores - you may not be able to find rings exactly, but if they got pipe int he right diamiter just have them cut a few slices off it for you, then take a file and round off the sharp edges - BAM rings in any material or diameter you want! (i recommend heavy pvc plastic)

Or Pringles cans. You have those over there I am sure. The lids are 3" exactly. I searched but had no luck with UK stores carrying them.

Wargames Workshop sell metal rings in the right quanities - good for one unit of druids or one pimping cryx warcaster or whatever have you. I used to buy pretty much all my PP stuff from them and it all arrived in worthy condition.

Though I will warn you - imo metal rings are a pain in the behind. They hook onto minatures (once knocked over a dragoon with one, not pretty), balance precariously, or you have to play swap and change with them. Kinda turn your turn into a game of Loosely Surgery Themed Precision Removal Challenge. They're fine if they're the first thing to go down (like a covering fire template on a blank piece of table) but they exagerate the problems with templates when they have to sit near models.

The metal rings from Michael's are too inconsistent in circumference and diameter for this game.
I suspect they are similar to the Macrame store type.
I took a fine automotive ruler along to Michael's, looking for precise and accurate circular metal rings. The variance was so great I didn't bother to buy them, it would've seemed like cheating...

I tried soldering some fine steel wire into the correct circumference. Gotta work on that soldering technique!!
