Default Judicator - our new Colossal

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=I1N0NLykLyQ

Helped Burn Llayl, has Missile Launchers and Massive Flame Throwers.

It also looks like a walking cathedral, no shock there.

    Pretty sweet.

Default Adjudicator - our new Colossal

Just in case you don't browse the General Forum, Colossals have been confirmed and ours is called the Adjudicator.

    - it has two damage grids (as featured on the back of NQ40). The S on the damage grids refers to a system called Super System, which controls the turrets. The Adjudicator's "turret" seems to be a rocket launcher of some kind. It was also described to me as a giant Avatar with flamethrowers.

    - and here's a picture of it, thanks to Vail_Nocturne.

    - it's between 18-20pts.

    - it's FA:2.

    - all Colossals have two new power attacks. One is a Thresher attack restricted to left or right arc. The other is a Slam with no minimum distance. They all get +2" on Slam and Throw distance rolls.- the first one(s) are released at Lock & Load. First one is probably Khador. Last one is quite likely to be ours (half joking).- they are not the Colossals of history, they are something new that shares the name.- PP video on them found here - http://privateerpress.com/warmachine

    More as i get updates.

Well we get a new warjack with a gun now. It also happens to look cool here's hoping the rules on these things are solid.

The video has a brief shot of the artwork for the Judicator. Looks to have at least two chest mounted flame throwers, and rumor is rockets as well. Not sold on the name, but everything else has me pumped!

But how does it compare to the Reckoner?

I think Privateer Press jumped the shark on this. For me this is too over the top. And the logic that all 5 factions develop these things at the same time is kind of stretching. That said, they look awesome and I look forward to seeing if they are any good.

No machine of the Protectorae should be bigger than the Avatar. Just saying.

Once they stated it is a warjack and benefited from battlegroup spells. The only thing I could keep imagining was Amon, Judicator, Dervishes, with a Choir and Vassal. This image was soon followed by a squee.

Apparantly it's called Adjudicator, not Judicator.

And it's a Super System, not Superstructure.

Don't you just love it when someone elses illiteracy bites you on the arse . I'll edit the OP and title.

Anyone know how exactly i can change the thread title?

Man, I hope they make these things balanced point-wise so we don't have to get into house rules that disallow them in low point games (<50).

I am not excited about the new collosals. Seriously PP, slow down. Two books and two new unit types is a bit much.

Not just bolted to the top but in a turret so you can fire into the left front and right front arcs (I'm guessing that the the colossal can't shoot into its own back arc).

My guess is that they're in the "Superstructure" (or whatever) component, which I believe can fire in the full Front arc. It's probably equivalent to the turret on the Khadoran one, and the lightning coils on the Cygnaran one...

Weirdly, it doesn't look like a turret in that picture. It looks like they just drilled some holes in the body and stuck a some Skyhammer tubes in it. It might be that they're inaccurate enough that it doesn't really matter which way you point the weapons, they can attack either arc regardless.

You laugh, but that could be a very legit question when it's released, especially if they can't benefit from Warjack abilities (Choir, Vassal, Reclaimer, etc...).

Hmm. If it ends up having a similar focus dynamic to the Avatar I'd be sold on it instantly. d3+1 focus for each aspect (left & right) of the model? Yes, please!

I laugh because I saw this question a lot when the battle engines were still not released and everyone was concerned that they would outright replace 'jacks. Then they got released and everyone was concerned they weren't flat out better than 'jacks. Now I laugh because I can see the whole cycle coming again. It's like a train wreck and I can't look away.

It would be amusing if it is the only Colossal that can't be disrupted.

Still, the Avatar was super special, I wouldn't expect it's lack of cortex to show up again anytime soon. The Harbinger has better things to do now than hang around the jack works for days on end again.

Yeah, I figure the same. Unless the Vassals and Mechaniks working in the foundries learned the trick of it (or something similar) from the Harbringer but were unable to recreate it in a frame as small as the Avatar. Thus, they began to build a frame that could house part of Menoth's Will.

One thing I note with some excitement is that it appears the Adjudicator is equipped with two open fists. How about some 2H throws of some Battle Engines? Probably it has very high STR so you would be able to chuck them a good distance too.

I'm guessing the high STR because they're not carrying weapons, which suggests that either they're very strong and don't need them to get good P+S, or they're more shooting oriented than I expected.

I can't remember, do battle engines have a blanket rule against throws, or were they just stopped before because nothing with the same base size had open fists? Failing that, you might be able to chuck a heavy warjack a good 8-9 inches.

I still can't forget how in Apotheosis we got the only character jack that didn't have a ranged attack nor two open fists.
