Question Converting a Talon into a Buccaneer - fish net ideas needed

The title tells it all pretty much.

Turning the lance into a gaff is no big deal for sure. I leave the shield off the left arm and I want to create the net of the Buccaneer there.
Do you have any ideas what to use there? I don't want a 'real' net as it would look dumb and impossible to paint.

I'm also thinking about simply ordering Buccaneer arms from the PP bitz store, but I'm not sure it's necessary.
    Ideas / pics welcome!

A bola? Just a long wire with a pair of weights at the end? Pendrake uses a Bola and it's pretty much the exact same thing as the Buccaneer's net.

If you have chain, you cold make it out of that instead, which would probably look cooler, and you could have the spares in cool places, like wrapped around the forearm, or worn like a belt, etc.

I actually like the bola idea and it's not really hard to make either (wire+gs).
I can also make some additional ones hanging from the waist.
Thanks for the suggestion, good one!
Now I just have to decide if I want to make triple ones like this, or simple ones with a weight on each end like this.

If you did want it to look like a net, you could use wire mesh.

I've been also thinking about the trooper net, but it's just as hard to get as the original Buccaneer arm.
Actually I'm so fond of the bola idea that I already have the plan how to model it.
Also it also fits the generic merc theme better than the net, I mean a Buccaneer with net looks much more pirate while a Talon-based jack with a bola in the hand and another on the hip has a more 'inland' feel to it, as I imagine.
I'll jump on the project as soon as I can get hold of some proper wire and will post some pictures in this thread when it starts to shape up.
    Thanks guys!

I converted a Talon into a Buccaneer, and after messing around for a while I ended up just buying the Buccaneer arms off the store. I run the Buccaneer with the Devil Dogs, so having a net seems perfectly reasonable and not particularly pirate-y. My original plan had been to use some fine chain to make a net, but it was just too much of a hassle to get right.

While I was ordering those Buccaneer arms, I also ordered a set of Renegade arms and magnetized the whole lot. So now my jack can run as either a Buccaneer, Talon, or Renegade depending on what I need!

I was also thinking about an omni-light, but I already have 2 Renegades.
I don't really use any Talons and I don't see it coming either.
This one was in the Magnus battle box, and I wanted to do something with it. The Buccaneer is more likely to see some table time, as it's very good value for points (unlike the Talon...). But that's another discussion.

Buccaneer, based upon a Talon's torso. I was going for the whole assault pose thing with it. I have one or two gaps to fill and then get it undercoated. I prefer the Talon chasis/torso to the original Buccaneer, hence the swap along with one or two other tweaks. Although, I can see it being a PITA when it comes to playing games because of the massive overhang of the model over the base.

Here is a pic from a different angle.

Yep, it might be a tad uncomfortable during play, but it looks cool.

It has had a little accident since that photo was taken. The net now hinges up 90deg from where it is in that pic.

I cant decide whether to leave it alone or glue it back, mainly because it makes it easier game wise and storage wise, which is quite handy.

On the down side, if I leave it as is, it might get worse and not stay level at all, and if I paint it then the paint will eventually wear off at the joint to the hand.
