Aw, man, I really do appreciate it. But there are so many folks here more talented than I am. I've been in this hobby for, what? almost 20 years? I ought to be better than I am. I'm always very squeamish about posting my stuff here, because I've seen what other folks here have done, leaving me to wallow in self pity and shame. You guys have been very kind, though, and I really appreciate it!

    Hey Minkylord...

I mean this in the most professional way possible, but...

    I hate you.

That Skron beasty is fantastic!! I just may have to keep looking at this thread to light a fire under my brush hand...

A Skron beasty is a Tron bike combined with a tortured animal, in this case the Archidon.

Chaos isn't a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but they refuse. They cling to the realm or the gods or love. Illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is.

Skron is a local term of endearment for the Skorne after a wonderful type-o in a text message from the local Press Ganger. It's the same reason why we call them the Angry Elvis around these parts...

Would it be weird to steal this scheme and use it on a Gallant? I love the idea and execution is doable, but I has no beasties to speak of. . .

(PS I's use the blue/purple with teal highlights around the black stripes.)

Okay, yes, now you must make an entire army of Archidons painted like this, led by Morghul with webbed fingers to look like wings.

Really nicely done. Someone with lesser skills could easily make this like like crap but you have executed the idea perfectly. It's really beautiful with the subdued markings being a favourite point of mine.

    Awesome!

I shall tell Brian when he gets here how much you have enjoyed this model. Brian does great work for sure!

If you come to Lock n Load or PAX Seattle I'd really like to see this guy up close and personal. I love seeing other people's work and this is work to be proud of. Looks like you've got a good handle on airbrushing as well since the transitions are nice and smooth. And the wing designs are very nicely executed. Do you have a pro light set up for final shots?

While it will be a stretch, if I can make it out this year, I will definitely bring him along. Maybe I could learn a thing or two while I'm there.

The airbrush was certainly handy for this particular project, especially since there was a lot of flesh to work with. I originally bought it a few years ago for vehicle models from "the other firm", for pre-shading and what-not, but I've since re-discovered its virtues in painting my beasts. I cannot WAIT to get my hands on a Colossal...

I do have a home-made light box for taking photos. When I wrap this guy up, I'll break it out, and see if I can't take some zazzy pics of the final product.

Clearly the model was so well-painted that it came to life and killed its owner. That is the only sensible explanation for the lack of new pictures.

No, I have not touched ponytail wieners with my alien bird yet. But I'd be lying if I said the thought hadn't crossed my mind.

He's almost done, I just have a few more touch ups, and I'll be taking some photos this weekend. SO LET IT BE WRITTEN! SO LET BE DONE!

Whoa. I think my favorite part of this paint job so far is the beautiful blue-purple-orange gradation in the mouth area, which Mnkylord certainly didn't need to do, but man, it makes the whole thing stunning and otherworldly. The light striations and veining in the underside of the wings are very nice and subtle. It's not something you'll see on the game table, but the attention to detail makes this truly display-worthy.

So, where are those pictures? Don't leave us hanging here! If you let this be another one of those threads where you never get around to posting pictures of the finished product, I, for one, will be very disappointed!

    Sorry, guys.

I would have loved to have finished him up this past weekend, but we had the small matter of a tornado blitzing its way through the area, destroying some neighbors' homes and what-not (including my father's next door neighbors). Needless say, it was a pretty hectic affair that didn't allow much time for self indulgent super fun hobby times.

Don't worry, I'm not letting this one go!

    That's terrible!

Also, I have started on my own blatant ripoff/homage to your Archidon, which will naturally never look half as good as this, but is still probably the most exciting paint job I've ever done!
