Default Witchfire Trilogy Map of Corvis, now enlarged and indexed for GMs

I couldn't find the old thread where I'd posted the garishly colourized and busily indexed version of the Corvis City Map I made when I was running the Witchfire Trilogy, so I'm posting this again for posterity and in anticipation of the new players who will be checking out the IK RPG upon its re-release in Summer of 2012.

I take no credit for the original black and white map, and all locations are based on my own interpretation of the text of the Witchfire Trilogy Collected Edition. It was useful for me as a GM to have a printed version of this handy as I ran the campaign, but I have tried to leave out major spoilers which might ruin surprises for the players.

The map isn't drawn to scale, so I didn't add one to it. But you can use a few landmarks to help gauge distances. The Black River Bridge is 2800ft (about half a mile, or .85 km) and it's 1.5 miles from it to the North Bridge (2.4 km). So if your party is on foot, it's 1.5 miles from the Quad to the North Bridge, from the Quad to the Cathedral, from the Cathedral to City Hall, and from one end of the waterfront to the other. Basically, getting anywhere takes about an hour to ninety minutes to walk, depending on crowds and time of day.

I hope you find the map interesting and practical, and welcome any advice or criticism my fellow players and enthusiasts might have to share!

The directions off the map confuse me... Isn't Merywyn in Llael? Shouldn't it be east of Caspia?

See if you can find a map of the Iron Kingdoms somewhere, and you'll note that Merywyn is far to the north, and Caspia far to the south. Neither is really east or west of the other, and Corvis is right in the middle of the two along the King's Highway.

There is a compass in the bottom corner of the map, it shows you're actually looking at Corvis from the west.

That could be why. I noticed the compass, but it 'felt' wrong. I guess I thought Llael was more eastward of Corvis. I forgot that Corvis is basically on the north-east tip of Cygnar.

And looking at my Warmachine map for 607, Merywyn is actually slightly west of Caspia, so I guess I was totally wrong.

Then again they've probably only labelled the roads as where they lead rather than the actual locations of either city.

Well, I can vouch for that, since I was the one who added the labels to this particular map. The direction of the roads leaving Corvis isn't exactly north or south, and presumably the King's Highway has a few bends on either side. It's enough to know that if you leave the City of Ghosts heading north, you won't be heading to Caspia.

Yes, the old version of the map has already been very helpful in my current WFT campaign. I just still hope that the new game will include something on the level of the Five Fingers map…
