I finally finished painting something. I'm not a very good painter and I'm an equally bad photographer. (It doesn't help I took these with my phone either)but I'm pretty happy with how these came out.

So as I was painting these, my 3 and 6 year old daughters told me they wanted to paint too, my 6 year old has already painted a vayl and epic lylth. So I was out of models of her own to let her paint.
So what model of his own does any self-respecting ret player let his daughter paint? (Knowing that its not exactly going to match the scheme of the rest of the army)
The gorgon of course!
(No, I'm not making this up that my kids paint models)
She's in the zone
She informed me that the feat are red because she wanted them to be like Dorothy's Ruby slippers in the wizard of Oz.
The only thing I did was base it for her.

Dude, seeing your daughter in the zone is so amazingly cute (yes, I'll hand over one of my 5 man cards)! My daughter is almost three and my son should be arriving in a couple of weeks, and I can only hope that they'll be able to find a creative outlet such as this early on.
As for your painting, I like the metallic armor. It's knightly in a futuristic but not sci-fi way, if that makes any sense. Is that little symbol on the back of the officer's base letting you know that he's the leader?
My older one is 6 and the younger one is 3. The 3 year old, she just kinda slops paint on, lets it dry and paints over it with a new color. She still has fun though. I let her paint cheapie reaper models I buy for like 3 bucks. But yea, watching my 6 year old get all into it is really cute.
Your correct about the symbol. On his shoulder the same symbol appears to let you know his rank, the unit attachment has a symbol too on his shoulder to let you know his rank,. I did my best to duplicate them on the back edges of the base so when I play them I can hopefully pick out the Leader model at a glance for keeping them in formation.
I chose the metallic colors because I pretty much hate white. I liked the studio scheme overall except for all of the white. So I'm replacing the white with that metallic color.

+1 nerd parent points for you.
Wish I had parents that did nerdy stuff that they would encourage me to do too. At our local game store on Friday nights they have a painting clinic, and there are several kids from ages 6-10 who come over, and with a little instruction produce really nice looking miniatures.
You're painted Ret guys look great. Love the color scheme and the gravel basing looks great.
Thank you.
I still feel like a kid at heart, so I pretty much ask my kids if they want to do anything that I feel like doing that would be fun to me and they are usually all for it.
We play video games on the PC and on the wii together a lot.
Rolling dice has also been a great way to teach math. lol

I too dislike the studio paint scheme, I really like your take on ret. A+ for getting your kids involved, how awesome is that?
Thank you, I don't totally hate the studio scheme, like I like the mage hunter strike force and the Mage hunter assassins and ghost snipers. But I don't like the little bit of white on them, and I don't like all of the white on the dawnguard, houseguard and the jacks. the metal color replacing all of this white I like a lot though. I'm going to do a caster or two and the mage hunter strike force next.

I like it. Seeing a couple metallic Retribution schemes lately almost makes me consider repainting mine in a metallic - it does make the armor look a lot more ... armory, which I really like. But then I would never be allowed to buy new stuff, I'm far enough behind on painting as it is!![]()
My Retribution - 60 models, 127/149 points painted. Retribution Achievements
Telryn, aka Goncalvo Serrano - From Khador With Love
These are the first things I totally finished after more than a year of playing. I have like one raptor finished, one jack half finished, like some of this nad that smattered all over. I decided I'm going to focus on the ret units and get them all done because units are sucha paint and ret has so many, next up is the mhsf.
And yea, the armor is supposed to be armor and the white just doesn't do it for me.

Not to denigrate Murk or anyone else who prefers metallics, but I think the white armor is a major part of the Iosian mystique.
Human: "So...this armor never rusts and is lighter than steel?"
Elf (As nonchalantly as possible): "Yeah...it's pretty good. Just a secret given to us by our gods at the dawn of time. We've got a few things like that."
It adds to the otherworldliness of the elves and I like it. I loathe painting it, but oh well. I never understood the violent hatred of the scheme.
Murk's silver metal does look good though.
ugg I just now noticed in the picture there is gravel stuck on his leg. lol
